Eastham House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths + outdoor shower (Sleeps 6-9)

A unique place, our 'Nauset Teepee' promises you a memorable family holiday in a clean, quiet setting that is distinctively Cape Cod.

The floorplan offers a first floor bedroom with a king size bed and full bath, large common room with walls of windows bringing the beautiful woodsy outdoors right inside. The open kitchen area has a standard stove, large refrigerator, dishwasher and sink with plenty of counter space for preparing meals. There is also an outdoor gas grille and picnic table. Up the spiral stairs to the second floor, you'll discover two large bedrooms, one with a set of twin beds, the other, a queen. Both bedrooms have high ceilings, tall windows and wonderful views of the private grounds.

The totally naturalized setting of this special house will appeal to those who seek comfort in the beauty of the woods. The trees here teem with birdlife and this secluded sandy lane provides a pleasant stroll or jog past other country homes. Just minutes away by bike or car are the bay and ocean beaches.

Campground Beach is a short walk from the house....a perfect place to view the glorious Cape Cod Sunsets. During low tide the kids will love tidepooling there while adults relax nearby. During the high tide the surf is a beauty to behold. Also close by are miles and miles of the famed National Seashore Ocean Beaches..Coast Guard and Nauset Light ( Watch for seals often seen in the Atlantic!) Fresh water ponds with lifeguards just blocks away as well as the BIKE TRAIL and walking trails. There is canoeing, golf, Willy's gym , ATM's, thrift shopping, Movies (even a Drive-In!!), shopping, art galleries, restaurants, crabbing, clamming, fishing, gas stations, liquor stores, coffehouses, music, theatre, grocery stores, library, churchs, temple, fish fry, ice-cream and donuts.. fun, fun, fun. A short distance away are many special destinations like the Audubon Society ( 1000+ acres of land including hiking trails) on the saltwater, and whale watching , and seal tours ,yoga on the beach, bookstores, freshest lobster and locally caught fish, songbirds and SEA Air!

About Jeanne Fleming Mino

Although we grew up in the 'City' and now live in the Hudson Valley farm country, we LOVE the beach. In our early days of marriage, pre-kids, we'd go to the antique shops on the weekends and one time we found an antique CRAB door knocker. We joked that we'd build a beach house for it someday. When the opportunity came to buy this house we did and gave the CRAB a home :) Our children feel that Cape Cod is just as much home as where we live most of the time. They are well versed in fishing, crabbing, boating, whales, turtles and TIDES...a world very different from the pastures here in NY state. Because it is our second home, you will not feel like it is a rental. We take pride in making it feel like home. As a matter of fact, our House was featured on HGTV's National Open House in August 2007. We can't imagine life without our Cape Cod Teepee.

Jeanne Fleming Mino purchased this house in 2003

Why Jeanne Fleming Mino chose Eastham

North Eastham is convenient to so much of what the Cape has to offer. It is one of the narrowest towns on the Cape..making it a short walk to the bay ( 10 min) and a short drive to the ocean( 6 min) There is a large fresh water swimming pond, with lifeguards, within walking distance of the house as well. Eastham is home to the famed National Seashore Beach- Coast Guard Beach- and a five minute drive to the Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary. Close by are all the places mentioned in the description and it is also the first town on the Cape that my husband and I visited together. After months of searching, we found this unique house in a rare, beautiful setting. We like its less manicured, woodsy feel.

What makes this house unique

Our property is private...We sit on a 'Cape Cod acre.' It is quiet and woodsy located down a sandy/grassy lane. ( No Rt. 6 traffice noise) There are other homes nearby but you have the sense of privacy without feeling isolated. I love to garden so there are plantings all over and the deck and upstairs balcony offer nice venues to enjoy the outdoors in comfort. The house has an open loft like main floor. The ceilings are high and the glass 'walls of windows' allow one to bring the outdoors, indoors. The bay is a short walk (1 mile)) away and the bike trail, restaurants, etc are easy to access. I love to cook also so the kitchen has lobster pots, bread maker, etc...everything the cook needs to prepare meals if you choose. Children are always welcome and they enjoy the spiral staircase as much as the safe play area all around the house. The kids will be safe so parents can relax.

The backyard is a large open area and there is a private hot/cold shower room there with a lovely beachy garden for dining and BBQ.

Check out our guestbook for more on what visitors have to say about their Nauset Teepee experience!

hidden gem

What a magical place! Located in the woods but not far from any amenity, this "Storybook" house is divine. Roomy, filled with light and lovingly appointed, its a homerun.

Owner's Response: So true. The "magic" of the place has inspired many an artist, especially poets, writers and some painters, to come and visit, again and again in the different seasons. We are always willing to open the house to "off season" guests as well as our "summer folks". Thanks for sharing that!

Lovely Vacation Rental

  • 5 of 5
We loved the open spaces on the first floor, the well-equipped kitchen, the big dining table we (eight of us) could gather around, the outdoor shower, the quiet, and the proximity to bay, ocean, and pond beaches. The kids loved the games, puzzles, and backyard for playing catch. The beds were comfortable (though the futon on the second floor really wasn't adequate for sleeping).

The owners were very helpful in answering questions. We had been to Wellfleet, but know almost nothing about Eastham, so we appreciated their information. We like the bay beaches better in Eastham.

We had one mishap, a burst hot water heater, and the owners had it replaced the same day, so we were very pleased at their quick response. You need to be careful with the spiral staircase, particularly young children, but the owners made sure to caution us about that. We kept our young ones downstairs.

Do try the Chocolate Cafe, Nauset Ice Cream, the National Park beaches, and First Encounter Beach, where we saw a magnificent sunset. Swimming in Great Pond at Wiley Park was wonderful, and the parking lot was never full.

I would recommend this property to a friend or relative.

Owner's Response: Thank you for being patient with the hot water heater! Our local guy and his swift response, priceless. That's why we stick with our local businesses and the good relationships we've made over the years with all of them. I am glad you enjoyed your stay, although I think my instructions on the upstairs futon were not adequate? It is a fold out wooden frame that becomes a single bed. The futon is about 6 inches thick..perfect for a child/teen to sleep on.. making it 3 single beds in that room. We loved your suggestions..Chocolate Sparrow..oh yeah..perfect for fresh made lemonade near the bike path in Orleans. We also like to get our ice cream cones at Nauset and then head for the Bay sunset or to Wiley Park ...a great place for a freshwater swim, kayak, to throw your line in (with a permit over 16 if someone checks :)or a read on the bench while the little ones play in the playground there. We hope to see you back enjoying our Eastham bay beaches again soon!

lovely, woodsy retreat

  • 5 of 5
It was easy to forget we were a short distance from traffic on Rte 6, and crowded beaches/parking lots in this house nestled in the woods. Loved the outdoor shower, well-equipped kitchen, large dining room table, front porch for morning coffee and chats, etc.

Owner's Response: Yes. It is so nice to go home to a serene place after a day "out" on the Cape, wherever your plans take you. We also enjoy the front porch for morning coffee and chats, as well as evening cocktails. And then on to the backyard for lounges, fire, dinner and dessert . Glad you enjoyed the house and hope to have you back!

Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5
The house is warm, private, inviting, well equipped and a great location to explore Cape Cod. The house is large enough for a big family and additional guests. Everything you need is there; a fully equipped kitchen, lots of space to hang out, play games, have a family meal and laundry facilities. The owner made herself available for questions, but there weren't too many because everything was organized, set-up and self-explanatory. Everything was clean. The location is perfect to explore the beaches, see amazing sunsets, eat at wonderful restaurants, bike, hike, and shop! I can't wait to go back and want to make this a regular vacation.
I found a spectacular beach on Longnook Road right off route 6 East (very private), the PB Boulangerie right off route 6 - incredible pastries and wonderful sandwiches.

Owner's Response: It is so satisfying to hear that our guests enjoyed themselves at the house and on the Cape -and you were there off season! Nice. Always plenty to do. We'll have to check out the Boulangerie and Longnook....as we are always learning from our guests as well. And yes! "your" May week is ready and waiting for your return in 2014. :)

Off the beaten path

  • 5 of 5
There were seven of us for the weekend and our stay was great! Plenty of room in and out including deck and patio and open floor plan. The bedrooms offer ample space and the large windows allow plenty of light. The main living space includes entertainment center, comfortable seating and terrific vertical space. The house is tucked away in the trees off a dirt road but a short bicycle ride are both sides of the cape, nearby lakes and shopping. You can ride your bicycle to the east beach to watch the sunrise grab a few lobsters and ears of corn, enjoy outside dining then take a dip on the west beach and watch a great sunset.

Owner's Response: East to ocean, west to bay and VERTICAL SPACE inside. I love your description of the spatial interior of the house. There is much to be said for HIGH ceilings, open and airy and light filled- especially on vacation! Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for leaving your comments and we hope to have you visit again in the near future.
