Reviewer Comments:

We thought the cabin was lovely. Very cozy and rustic. The aspect on the water is gorgeous and the long boardwalk out to the dock is a great safety feature for parents with small children. The dock, however, could use some work as it is very rickety and unstable. Our stay would have been 5 star except for three things: the cabin could be better equipped for emergency power outages as we struggled to find candles and matches during a storm. There were no flashlights or generators or even emergency protocols and we were without power and running water for 16 hours. Three trees were also down on the property making it a concern for future guest's safety. There is also a persistent beeping - like a smoke alarm - that we were unable to locate and disable. And our stay was dampened by the presence of a mouse that got into our food and left droppings everywhere. Otherwise we thought it was a very charming cabin and exactly what we were after.

Manager responded on 12/8/2014:

Thank you so much for staying at Loons Landing. We appreciate your feedback and have done our best to correct these items. We have added flashlights for emergencies. The house previously had been stocked with these items but they have a way of disappearing. The downed trees have been removed. The beeping was smoke alarms and the batteries have been replaced. Living in the north especially in the woods brings little creatures inside from time to time. We do our best to keep them out and will remove them if we know they have come inside. We do appreciate your business and hope you will visit again. Loons Landing is a lovely cabin and setting we we will continue to care for this property so future visits will be enjoyed by all.

Reviewer Comments:

We really enjoyed this property. The cabin was nicely decorated and very comfortable. The lake was beautiful and the weather was perfect. It was nice to have the rowboat for fishing. Bellaire was close by and a nice little town. Good restaurants and shops. Traverse City was not far away and easy to get to. Charlevoix was also close by and was not someplace we had been to before. The Apple Fest was very nice and the Friske Orchard and Farm Market should not be missed.

There were a couple of small maintenance issue with the cabin, four burnt out lights with no replacement bulbs available, smoke detector battery was low with no replacement battery available ( so had to listen to the beeping last night there) and the dining room light fixture stopped working. Could not find the breaker box to see if that was the issue.

Overall a great stay, would recommend to others.

Reviewer Comments:

First impression upon arrival, cabin was decorated very cute and homey however once we got through the doors I found it not very clean. There were finger prints and smudges on all the glass doors & front windows. The floors turned our socks black, The window sills were dirty with dust & dead insects which were a bother b/c you had to open the windows as there was no air conditioning which was okay. Small kitchen, counters were very cluttered so time was spent putting things in cabinets so I could have room to prepare food. Extra blankets in closet were smelly and had to be washed before use. Went to pull vacuum out to use and it was jammed full of ick so I refused to use it. Deck facing water was very dirty, I had to sweep chairs and windows down before use but felt cleaning personnel could have done it between rentals. I did not feel like I could relax but the need to clean. Cabin said accommodations for 7 however the couch did not fold out and was small. Dock for boat was very wobbly and unsteady to walk on & swimming conditions were not good as it was muck up to your knees. I would only recommend if you didn't have kids that wanted to swim or if you wanted a fall or winter get away. Certain property management were attentive to my concerns & dissatisfaction, listening, trying to make things better, however others were not. They did not have professional people skills and were very short and impatient giving me the impression I was bothering them & their time.
