Grew up in upstate NY, (Rochester area), returned there to school (RIT) after a tour with The U.S. Marine Corps, followed by a 25 yr. marketing career with Eastman Kodak with sales territories in New England, Detroit, and Dallas, and corporate in Rochester. Retirement career with American / American Eagle as a flight attendant based in Dallas. Now divide my retirement time between San Diego, Dallas, and Reno.

San Diego is truly 'America's finest city' and S.D.'s newly revitalized East Village is a great and growing downtown neighborhood close to all that is happening downtown yet quietly removed enough to be relatively undisturbed and private. This 5th floor condo, 1/2 block from S.D.'s new downtown main library, three blocks from Petco Park, three blocks from the Gaslamp, and on the trolley lines is ideally located for city walk-ability and a trolley ride to the rest of the Greater San Diego Area.

Sitting on the balcony, looking south to San Diego Bay and the Coronado Bay Bridge is an enjoyable way to relax at the end of the day and take advantage of San Diego's great climate, be it Winter or Summer.

Excellent downtown condo

This condo is is very well located in the trendy East Village neighborhood just a short walk to dozens of good restaurants and bars. The property was spotlessly clean, exceptionally well equipped and accurately presented in the listing. The owner, Jim, is particularly helpful and accommodating. Just as important, he conducts the business end of managing his property in a professional, reliable and punctual manner.

Besides being well located for walking, the condo is very handy to the light rail trolley system which runs through the city and to freeways, including I-5. With the windows open there is the usual background noise of any urban environment, but nothing out of the ordinary. Closing the windows brings quiet. Construction on the new library on the next block is completed and resulted in a beautiful facility. Petco Park is less than 5 minutes walk - an excellent stadium to watch a Padres baseball game.

A full size Albertson's grocery store is conveniently just a couple of short blocks away. With this, the trolley system and the walkability of the downtown area, there is really no need for a car. A highly recommended property for a San Diego visit.

Jim's condo was great. Exactly as depicted online. He was very personable. He took the time to meet us at the trolley stop and show us the condo as well as a book with maps and coupons for local places. Would definitely stay at one of his properties in the future!

Owner's Response: It's a special pleasure when guests come with no intention of having a car. Enjoying the condo and getting around San Diego walking and on the trolley has special appeal. Often when guests come by car they leave it parked in the underground garage and rarely use it.. The condo is located right at the "Park and Market" trolley stop in East Village. .

Fantastic stay!

Wonderful stay! The home and homeowner was very accommodating. Jim was a fantastic host and very welcoming. Gave me a layout of the neighborhood and had plenty of recommendations in terms of activities and places to eat/drinks.

Good size apartment with fully stocked bathroom. Plus washer/dryer and a good kitchen if you don't want to spend all your money on the delicious restaurants nearby. Note: you do have to pay extra for wifi but by no means would this prevent me from staying again. My only regret is not booking this soon enough for a 2014 stay!

Owner's Response: I certainly appreciate the kind words. The plan is to provide a well furnished and well stocked condo so that guests only need to bring themselves and their personal items. In my brief personal welcoming orientation I try to help my guests get comfortable with the condo, the local surroundings, and what San Diego has to offer.

I recently upgraded the internet WiFi system to provide a full and unrestricted 100Mbps synchronous internet service which is included. This should be welcomed by the heavier internet user.

Having guests wanting to return is the best reward.

Great Condo

We stayed for the month of March 2014. The condo is beautiful, well maintained and welcoming. The owner Jim was very helpful and gave us a lot of useful information about the locale, the town and the tourists sights to head to. Best part was the great location, a few blocks from the Gaslamp quarter with all its bars, restaurants and shopping.
I would strongly recommend this condo to anyone.

I have to give kudos to Jim Plant (the owner) of this lovely condo! Besides the cleanliness of this beautiful unit there was EVERYTHING that his guests could ever want or need provided. Lots of towels, linens, dishes, etc, and he even provided coffee and some condiments!
The secure underground parking and great view from the balcony were
also real pluses! Jim also had all kinds of brochures, guide books and
maps listing every conceivable activity in the area.
The trolley is right outside the front door and the condo is close to
Petco Park for those baseball fans. We tried several different restaurants
in the Gaslamp Quarter, but the BEST dinner we had was at a fairly
new French restaurant in the Hillcrest neighborhood: "Au Revoir" has
divine food and impeccable service. The lavender fries and poached
pears with chocolate sauce were amazing!
There aren't better accommodations in San Diego for the price. Thanks
again Jim for your great customer service!

Owner's Response: My continuing mission is to provide a quality stay at good value and it is very rewarding to have it appreciated. I try and keep a current activities list for downtown and for the Greater San Diego Area and send them to guests prior to their arrival. I also maintain a preferred restaurant list that guests are invited to contribute to and "Au Revoir" will deffinitely be added.
