About The Owner

I'm an adjunct professor at two different universities, teaching online classes in public relations and writing. I love what I do, and I love it that I can teach from here in Yachats or just about anywhere that has high-speed Internet! I bring my dog, Bear, here to the cottage and get a big kick out of how much he enjoys running on the beach and playing in the river and the tidal pools. My grandsons enjoy this place, too - but they enjoy the dune buggies down in Florence even more!

Why The Owner chose Yachats

I had been coming to Yachats on and off for a good 30 years, always day-dreaming about having a summer place here. There is no Wal-Mart for 25 miles either north or south; this is a tiny village full of wonderful people and incredible shops and restaurants. It takes a little effort to get here, and that's one of the things that makes Yachats special; it's a bit off the beaten track and it's possible to slow down here - well, slow down, eat well, and enjoy great company, great scenery, and great peace.

What makes this cottage unique

I love to relax on the deck on a sunny afternoon with a glass of wine and maybe with a good friend for company. I love to go to sleep with the sound of the tide, and I love to hear the ocean the first thing when I wake up in the morning. I love walking down to the beach from here with my dog and watching him run through the tidal pools. Recommendations: visit the kitchen shop down by the grocery story. Eat at the Adobe. Go to the Fireside gift shop. Visit Shirley's. Go see Haceta Head Lighthouse and see why the keeper's house is said to be haunted. Shop at Nye Beach in Newport; stroll along the Old Town boardwalk in Florence.
