This festival's most dramatic effect is the Pageant of the Masters where live models pose in the midst of life-size backgrounds to recreate famous works of art. Other events include: The Sawdust Festival which features painters, sculptors and craftsmen in an outdoor setting of flowers, running brooks, trees, fountains and waterfalls; and, the Art-A-Fair featuring artist exhibitors, children's art activities, workshops and artist demonstrations.
Main Beach Park, Heisler Park, Crescent Bay and Aliso Beach are just a few of the many parks in Laguna from which to enjoy its beauty and tranquility. Walking trails, gardens, a marine refuge with tide pools, children's play equipment, picnic benches and barbecues are available 365 days a year.
For the sports-minded there are sand volleyball, basketball and tennis courts, bicycle paths and surfing. Divers will appreciate Divers Cove, one of several off-shore diving spots in Laguna Beach. Those who dive here claim this is one of the best places in all of Southern California to see the beautiful coastal-shelf environment.
Other close-by activities include ocean-front golfing at Monarch Beach Golf Links, boating and watersports from Dana Point or Newport Beach Harbors, and surfing at world-famous Trestles Beach in San Clemente. Amusements such as Del Mar Racetrack, Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Universal Studios, Sea World, and the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park are all within short driving distance of Laguna Beach.
