Miles of amazing beach at your doorstep...this is why you come to Mexico; for the beaches, and not just a 'view' of it.
Only minutes from Cabo, enjoy the most spectacular beach in Baja. Over four miles of private beach shared with only a dozen private homes. This is what a beach vacation should be... THE BEACH is a vacation home for families. Although we are only minutes from Cabo San Lucas, we are light-years apart. The closest hotel is 12 miles away, there are no beach vendors constantly bothering you, and the nearest bar is 10 miles away. Here, families can safely hike the beautiful desert mountains, arroyo waterfalls and caves are a peaceful stroll away, and the beach is simply spectacular with miles of secluded white sand and natural rock formations. And then there’s the hammocks—There is nothing quite like a siesta in one of your hammocks, the constant sound of the Pacific surf and the steady breezes rock you to sleep as palms sway.
Our weather is perfect! Being on the Pacific, we are 75-80 during the day, and low-sixties at night. And that’s ten months a year. Even when it’s 100 degrees in Cabo in June and July, we’re still in the low 80’s.
The home itself sits on 1.6 acres of the most amazing and beautiful property in Baja. We have 200 feet of beachfront, and the home sits atop a 30’ granite bluff. Steps lead to the beach, where we have a small grotto for nighttime campfires, and then four miles of perfect white-sand beach dotted with granite and limestone rock formations. To our east are the Sierra de la Laguna mountains, rising to almost 6,000 feet. Sunrise over the mountains, sunset over the Pacific.
Whale Season at THE BEACH is simply amazing! From November thru February thousands of Gray Whales migrate from Alaska to the Sea of Cortez, passing closer to us than anywhere else on the Pacific coast. Typically we'll spot 30 or 40 a day, right from our own back yard, and often within 50 yards of the beach. Breeching and spy-hopping is common, and a sight you'll never forget.
To meet your needs, our American property manager / concierge lives in the casita at the entrance to the property, just outside the gates. You’ll always have total privacy, but they are always close by when needed. Daily maid service is included.
Very few large vacation homes here are actually on the beach, so if you're coming to Cabo for the beach, check them out. Beachfront and Oceanfront don't necessarily mean you can walk down a few steps and be on the beach as you can here.
Chef services are available for $385 pp for the entire week including breakfast and dinner meals. See our website cabobeachome.com for more details.

Susan and Jim Smith purchased the land in 1998, then were transfered to Paris for two years. While living in Paris, Jim traveled between Paris and Cabo to supervise construction of their beach home. In 2002 the final phase of the home was completed and we lived here part-time, splitting time between here and Dallas. What started out as a 1,200 sq ft vacation home ended up near 8,000 sq ft with 8 bedrooms, two living rooms and a 120' patio overlooking the Pacific. We now spend about 3/4 of our time here at the beach, and the rest of the time in Dallas with our children and 5 grandchildren.

Why did we build THE BEACH? Four miles of private beach. Migrating whales literally in our back yard. Incredible fishing. Nearby Todos Santos, which is much more quaint and enjoyable than Cabo. Nearby arroyo waterfalls. Perfect weather: our weather is so different than down in Cabo because we are on the Pacific. August and September are hot, but the rest of the year it's 75 during the day and low 60's at night. And it never rains, with about 360 days of pure sunshine. Spend a day here, and you'll understand why this is paradise.
THE BEACH! The close proximaty to water sports and activities. And the privacy.
Our family enjoyed a fabulous Holiday reunion at "Cocina Pacifica" - an amazing ocean front villa! Owners Jim and Susan were great and easy to deal with - for example notwithstanding we had rental cars Susan arranged to meet us at the airport and take most of our luggage which freed us to get supplies before heading to the villa. They were available to help when we needed anything yet were pretty much invisible during our stay and their care taking couple were great! Interestingly, their property showed no signs of the devastating hurricane Oddie which struck in September.
We loved the setting being so close to a vibrant living ocean with the whales, dolphins and flying manta's entertaining us while being surrounded by a totally opposite but equally appealing arid landscape. We rarely saw anyone on the beach and enjoyed the privacy of our gang playing on the beach, boogie boarding and fishing.
The Villa really exceeded our expectations - from a completely equipped kitchen that easily handled the feeding of our family - complimented with fun patio "Firepit" tables to enjoy meal times around, to the clean, comfortable, separate suites which easily accommodated all 15 of us providing lots of space. The younger ones enjoyed playing in the pool while others could relax in the numerous comfortable lounges and hammocks. The large ocean front patio was a great setting for exercise classes, games and just watch the ocean action - no crowds to worry about - just us!
If you're looking for a first class, private setting for a family vacation and retreat you won't do better than "Cocina Pacifica". Collectively, "we didn't want to leave"!!!
Thanks Jim and Susan!
We just finished spending a week at Cocina Pacifica to celebrate my dad's 80th birthday. We went with our extended family from ages 80 -11. Everyone had a wonderful time. Our top reasons why we loved Cocina Pacifica:
1) The View and Whales - we have been to Kaikoura, New Zealand and the the coasts off of Boston to see whales. At Cocina, you can enjoy a cup of coffee and sit out on your own front porch and view both California Grays and Humpbacks. Whale watching became a favorite pastime for both young and old.
2) The location - we are actually a family that would not have liked to stay in congested Cabo. Finding a place close enough to drive into Cabo if we wanted to but was tucked away on our own beach was ideal. The house has a pool and hot tub, plenty of space in the front to exercise if you want (our kids played street soccer) and the beach right down a flight of stairs was perfect for sunbathing and throwing the football around. The surf at this beach can be a little bit too rough for swimming unless you are really strong. The house is also fairly close to Todos Santos (25 min. drive), a more authentic place to visit than Cabo, if you are looking for some culture.
3) Cerritos Beach - just 10 minutes from the house, is the best surfing and boogie boarding beach we have been on in a long time. Everyone boogie boarded and surfed including my father who is 80 and has never boogie boarded in his life. The water is a great temperature and the waves just keep coming. There are also vendors (not too many to annoy you) who will rent you beach umbrellas and surf boards. The house has boogie boards and beach chairs. There are really cheap, delicious, and safe tacos stands at the entrance to this beach off HWY 19.
4) Family time - the house is solar run and we loved the owner's environmentally conscious way of operating the home. Our children (ages 11- 21) became more thoughtful about how we use energy and how often they feel the "need" to connect on the internet. It allowed everyone, including our social media active teens, to take a break from being connected constantly. (House has fine internet connection but not all 17 people can be active on it at the same time)
5) Under the Stars - the stars at night are crystal clear and you can even make out some planets. The house has wonderful hammocks to enjoy the view at night.
6) The great pantry - we all gained about 5 pounds this past week
7) Owners - Jim and Susan, really helpful and generous!
You want someplace "special" when you're celebrating 45 years of marriage and the first birthday of a grandson. We found just that at Cocina Pacifica. The property is near enough to Cabo to make arrival easy--we had 12 adults and a baby arriving from 4 different locations, with one couple driving down Baja and the others flying in. The hacienda is magnificent--planned so well that the oceanfront patio is fantastic (sat there watching whales for hours, moved to poolside patio on other side of home when wind came up), cooked in well-stocked inside kitchen and prepped meats on patio BBQ. Each couple had their own bedroom with private bath. Owner most accommodating for referrals for dining out, masseuse who comes to property, airport transport, errands if needed. The Portuguese water dog, Sofia, is equally a treat, eager to visit. Well furnished, with plenty of towels. Quality décor. We surfed locally and fished directly in front of home. NO crowds around--just blissful solitude and beauty. Plenty of lounges on both patios to offer spots to all be together or not! Short drive to Todos Santos for shopping and a lovely lunch. Absolutely reasonable for quality, including maid and gardener service. 5 stars aren't enough--we're going back! Wifi included along with fishing poles and boogie boards; they missed nothing...
If you are interested in solitude, brilliant sunshine and panoramic ocean views, this is the place for you. We just returned from a fabulous Xmas vacation with 3 families (12 people total-6 adults and 6 kids age range 9-16). We would go back to Cocina Pacifica tomorrow. The accommodations were first rate and we spent almost of our time on the beachfront patio overlooking the ocean. 20-25 steps below the patio was the private beach area which was very inviting and very accessible. You could walk 2+ miles in either direction and not encounter another soul. Depending on time of year, the surf at the beach area can be a rough but we were happy to sit on the beach and watch the whales passing (that also is dependent on season). For extended swimming, we drove ten miles north to Cerritos beach and for souvenir shopping we went to Todos Santos which is 25 miles north. The highways are in good shape and travel was not an issue. If you want to do anything more than sit on the Cocina Pacifica beach reading, fishing or whale watching, a rental car is recommended. The owner is extremely knowledgeable of the area and so helpful. He can point you to great excursions and help you plan them based on your needs- we already discussed our next visit with him. He is also willing to accompany on some of these excursions as we spent a fun afternoon golfing with him.
We are fairly self-sufficient and setting up our beach chairs (there are plenty to choose from), mixing our own margaritas, and cooking our meals is perfectly acceptable; if you seek the same, then this is the spot. The pictures on the website are wonderful but don't fully capture Cocina Pacifica-the sun streaming through in the morning and the sounds of the waves crashing just cannot be captured in a photo- we tried! Overall, I give our vacation a 10 out of 10 and the only drawback is that Sofia the dog can't come home with you.
Let me begin by saying, my children have asked to return again for Spring break in 4 weeks, and my youngest son cried when we left for the airport to come home. This place is a fantastic private get away for the family, but close to so many fun activities that you can decide just how busy you want each day to be. The owners took time to make sure we got to do our favorite things, scheduling outings to go horseback riding, directing us the best boogie-board beaches, scheduling our deep sea fishing excursion, and helping find great restaurants. They cooked our deep sea catch for dinner one night too! We made our own breakfast each day in the gourmet kitchen, saving time and money. And every morning we went for long walks on the beach. The sunrises, sunsets and night time stars are just breathtaking!
Although we were picked up by the property owners at the airport (which was a great help on arrival) we wanted to drive around a lot and see things. So we rented a car and drove to and from Cabo and up to Todos Santos with no trouble at all. The area felt very safe and friendly. There is a Costco on your way to this property so you can stock up on familiar groceries for your stay. No one had the slightest stomach upset on this trip.
This is an excellent place to come with the family if you choose or a group of friends. The view is amazing from the beautiful rushing sounds of the ocean, to the breathe taking sunsets, and the amazing starrey lit sky at night. For my first time coming to Cabo this place left an imprint for the rest of my life. The host and owner Jim is an awesome guy who has the flavor of cabo to feed you food that just makes you want to never stop eating and the inside scoop on the best spots to see on a budget. Staying here you get the best of the both worlds you can drive 30 mins or so to get to Cabo or the very special town of Todo Santos and the privacy of having your own beach. I would stay again at Jim's place and hope whoever reads this try it out because you will love it I promise.
