During the Winter months I shut down the bottom floor so the rental unit only has one bedroom and bathroom during the Winter. So in the Winter this rental is perfect for one person or a couple. Also during the Winter I would like to rent for a 3 day minimum.
During the Spring, Summer, Fall this is perfect for one to four persons. This rental unit is right downtown Lake Placid with a yard that leads out to an Adirondack Lean-to and Dock right on Mirror Lake - which is private and just for you the renters!!!!! Its a cool rental unit with lots of old school features including original windows, hardwood floors, exposed brick and I beams, clawfoot tube, antique Iron Beds and with an emphasis on being fresh and clean(I have a video of the whole property I can email to you as I am not a professional camera person and did not want to have it on youtube as a link on vrbo) .
On the shores of beautiful Mirror Lake and located in the middle of the Olympic Village of Lake Placid, this 2 bedroom 3 full size beds (the downstairs bedroom has 2 beds not fully seperated by a wall but a common area), 2 bath unit (the whole unit is on two levels and you have to go thru the porch and down the outside stairs to the second bedroom) provides it all - swimming, pristine mountain lake, views of the lake and high peaks including Whiteface Mountain, excellent fishing, wildlife w/ frequent visits by Loons, beautiful sunrises and convenient to walk to all the restaurants, shops and local attractions.

We stayed in this apartment for 5 days. 2 adults and 2 teenagers. It was perfect! The location is ideal - right in the middle of town with everything just outside your front door - shops, restaurants, Olympic venues. Despite the proximity to everything, the place is quiet. By far, the best thing about this apartment is that it is lakefront. You have your own dock in the backyard. We watched the sunrise every morning over the lake and mountains. It was amazing. You can swim, rent paddle boards & kayaks and hike. The owner, Willie, is great too. A great experience! We would rent here again!
Excellent location! Centrally located. (although parking does not come with the unit) Having 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, full kitchen, and living area made the stay more than comfortable. The Lean-to by the dock was a perfect place to nap or have a late light glass of wine and enjoy the sights on the lake. The unit was very clean and included most things you needed for a comfortable stay. You could also sit on the dock and watch the swim portion of the Triathlon!
The owner was very nice and accommodating. The description by the owner and the pictures on-line were representative of the unit.
The only area of suggested improvement would be the noisy beds. A bit of a challenge for light sleepers.
Our family of four stayed here for a week in August, and we loved it. We are always looking for the 'perfect' vacation rental that is affordable too. This was just right for our family. The rental was roomy enough for two adults and two teenagers. The property is amazingly private for being right in town. We walked to dinner most nights. While not luxurious, the rental is very comfortable and had everything we needed. The kitchen is small but manageable -- we cooked in comfortably a couple of nights and augmented our meals from the ample options a short walk from the front door.
The owner was very accessible and helpful. He is very knowledgeable about the area and had good suggestions. We're planning a return trip.
I stayed with two friends at this apartment this summer. The overall experience was good but it is worth noting some of the aspects that could be improved as well. First the positives - The location is excellent, right in the middle of town. You emerge from your door, right next to the owner's antique shop and you are next to the Olympic arena and in the midst of shops and restaurants. It is hard to imagine anything more convenient, to the town at least. The apartment has one bedroom up in the middle level and two bedrooms down on the lowest one. There is a living room and a small kitchen as well. The main bathroom is on the middle level but there is a small one below as well. While not fancy, there was plenty of space and it was comfortable. The best feature of the property, however, is the little dock out back on Mirror Lake. We spent a lot of time out there swimming and soaking in the fantastic atmosphere. It was awesome. There is a lean-to out there should need to get out of the sun, but we never used it.
All that said, there were a few things that took away from the experience. Worth noting are the beds. The beds are new, according to the owner, and of good quality. However, they are very noisy and I woke myself up rolling over each night. I told this to the owner and he said he would fix it. If I were to rent again, I would make sure of that. Also, the beds are short. Plenty wide but they are short and I found I had to sleep diagonally. I'm 6'2" and if you are any taller than that, it could be an issue. There is no parking there, so you need to park on the street or in the municipal parking lot. It isn't far but it isn't right outside either. The overall decor is a hodgepodge which is probably in keeping with the owners business. It doesn't look that well put together and so you won't be wowed when you walk in. I'm not sure that's important, though, since the great location made us want to be outside all the time.
In the end, I gave this 4 stars. The location and value overwhelmed, for me, the negatives in a big way. We had a great time on the trip and, if the beds were fixed, would certainly rent again.
We stayed at property and had a great time! The location in the middle of town made walking to restaurants and shops convenient. We also had access to mirror lake w/ private dock perfect for relaxing and taking in the beauty of the Adirondacks. Nice property with great location!
