About Heather Pitschka

Steve and I (Heather) have lived in Duluth for the past 17 and 12 years respectively. We call it home now and have a tough time seeing ourselves living elsewhere. Lake Superior has a draw and we've been mesmerized since moving here. We both love the water and spend a significant amount of our free time surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. Both of us have caught a muskie out of our canoe a stone's throw away from our house on Minnesota Point. We've also been able to surf every month of the year! Although I'd recommend a wet suit Fall/Winter/Spring. We love this area and always look forward to coming home when we've gone on vacation

Why Heather Pitschka chose Duluth

Actually the vacation home is Steve's first home. He spent much of his free time repairing/refinishing. It is furnished with antiques handed down in our family that Steve refinished. We were unable to part with it when we moved to our new home less than a mile away so we turned it into a vacation rental home in 2010.

What makes this cottage unique

You'll have direct access to the largest freshwater lake in the WORLD (Lake Baikal in Russia is largest by volume, Lake Superior is largest by surface area)!

You are less than one mile away for the farthest inland port in the world.

You are less than one mile away from one of the largest lift bridges in the United States. There you can view Ocean and Great Lake ships from less than 100 feet as they enter and leave the port.

Minnesota Point is surrounded by water and the Aerial Lift Bridge is the only point of access by land. You are essentially on a island!

Even though you are less than one mile away from downtown Duluth you'll feel safe in your neighborhood. Steve lived in this house for several years and feels that it is safe (never locked his doors) with great neighbors (no turnover for at least 10 years). It is a great relaxing environment which we hope the claw foot tub and sauna promote.

If you want shopping, coffee, antiques they are less than 1 mile down the road over the Aerial Lift Bridge. You can also make the walk on sandy beach.

Girls Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Loved this property! This was our group's first trip up to Duluth. The house is a quick 5 minute drive from Canal Park and would definitely be walkable in the summer. House was spotless when we arrived and decorated beautifully. Loved the fireplace and sauna. Beach would be awesome if we had come during the warmer months! (Literally in the backyard) We had 6 girls in our mid twenties & accommodations were very comfortable. Heather was very helpful during our time planning our trip. Recommend for anyone looking for a cute, clean, Duluth vacation rental in a great location.

great place for a weekend escape

  • 5 of 5

we stayed with a group of 6 friends, all in our late 20's. House had plenty of room for all of us and some great entertainment in the basement (sauna, ping pong, foos ball). Great location, great house, friendly and responsive owners. Would definitely recommend.

Cozy older home with great updates

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful long weekend at this vacation rental. The owners have set up the house wonderfully. It's decorated warmly and is extremely welcoming. Great area for eating together and playing games, comfortable living space and bedrooms. Towels, bedding kitchen necessities were all nice quality and the ping pong and foosball tables were fun to play on a cold weekend. Convenient location to many of Duluth's attractions. Heather was great to work with setting up the stay.

Fantastic Home, Location, and Owners

  • 5 of 5

If travel plans take you to Duluth, you'll want to stay at Beach House 3. It's within walking distance to all Canal Park attractions, located on the beach, clean as a whistle, and designed to make the stay comfortable and relaxing. Everything needed to operate on vacation is supplied (and then some!). The owners truly care about their renters and will go out of their way to ensure things are done right. Their availability and willingness to communicate will ensure an enjoyable stay for sure. We also loved the fact the house has been modernized but not at the expensive of its historic character. You'll appreciate that!

Charming!

  • 5 of 5

You can't go wrong with the location: just over the dunes to the beach, just down the street from Canal Park. The house is adorable, with fun gathering spaces (board games! ping pong! sauna!) and plenty of bedrooms. Heather and Steve offer top notch customer service and answered our questions quickly - even offered to stop by when we couldn't find something. Wow! We'll definitely be back!
