Overview

Black Hawk Cabin Rental Photos and Description

3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, sleeps 11

Our cabin is conveniently located just off the Peak to Peak Highway, Route 119, midway between the fun, gambling town of Black Hawk and the town of Nederland, gateway to the Indian Peaks wilderness, in the quiet mountain neighborhood of Meadowlake Mountain Acres. Located on almost two acres, Aspen Meadows has a geological rock formation at the rear of the property, where, after an easy hike up the pathway, you are treated to an almost 360 degree view of the surrounding mountain peaks, including the Continental Divide.

Cabin Features: Aspen Meadows' open floor plan is bright and cheery with large windows and easy communication between the living room, dining room and kitchen. A den/sunroom off the living room is another gathering place and can be closed off to serve as an additional bedroom with the comfy sofa that folds out to a full-size bed for one or two extra guests. A wood burning fireplace in the living room and a wood stove in the dining room will keep your family warm and cozy, (wood is provided). The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to whip up delicious meals, including staples and spices. (Nederland's B&F Supermarket is minutes away for convenient stocking up.)

The master bedroom has a comfy queen-size bed, an en-suite bathroom and french doors which open onto a private deck. The second bedroom also has a queen size bed and the kids' bedroom is equipped with a bunk bed and two twin beds. There is a folding twin bed stored in the kids' room closet for extra bedding.

More Good Stuff: In addition, there is a full bathroom near the kitchen and a washer and dryer for your use. On the main deck in the front of the cabin, there is a gas grill, along with plenty of seating, and the crisp, delicious mountain air abounds! Our cabin has a flat screen TV, a DVD/VHS player, an extensive movie library, an IPod dock, an additional TV with a built in DVD/VHS player and plenty of books and board games to enjoy while on vacation. Kick back, relax and enjoy the peace!

Pets are welcome at Aspen Meadows with an additional fee and security deposit. Although the streets leading up to the easily accessed and flat driveway of the cabin are quickly plowed after snowfall by the county, 4WD is still recommended throughout the Winter.

So Many Things to Do!: The property is one mile from the entrance of Golden Gate Canyon State Park and within easy driving distance to fabulous hiking, biking, fishing, sight-seeing, skiing, gambling in the mining town of Black Hawk, and so much more. Vacationers are within walking distance to the Gilpin County Library with free computers and internet access, and three miles down the highway is the first class Gilpin Community Center. Our Center offers an indoor track, lap & activity pools, basketball & volleyball courts, dance & fitness studio, cardio equipment, weight room, hiking trail, art studio, teen room with pool, ping pong and air hockey tables, meeting rooms, lounge, free WI-FI, seasonal events and more, all available to visitors for a small fee!

Picturesque cabin and location, ideal for a winder get-away

  • 5 of 5

Originally from Europe I spent a lot of time hiking in the Alps the the Pyrenees, I was excited to spend some time in the Rockies this winter and go for some good walks with family. The cabin was a dream location, felt quite isolated in the Rockies but really only a few minutes off a main road for easy finding and access. Several fantastic hikes, with a range of capability right on the doorstep, literally! The location could not have been better. With a quick teaser at the back of the cabin, there is a nice little view point to see some breathtaking views, day and night time.

The cabin itself was phenomenal - it has a homely touch, you can tell people own and use the cabin when not rented. But this is exactly what I like about it. There was enough personal touch to make it cosy and welcoming, but not so much that it felt like we were invading somebody elses home - this cabin is set up perfectly for people to come and use it. Ample firewood was ready to go, inside the fires were stocked and ready to light as soon as we walked in. The kitchen has a great feel to it, people leaving behind non-perishables and spices for communal use, some excellent quality kitchenware for cooking up some comfort foods, and a great open-plan and central location, so when you are cooking you can still be involved with people elsewhere in the cabin. The living room was beautifully laid out, plenty of seating around the fire, a TV with every channel you could want, many games available to entertain without the TV, and books-galore, several local hiking guides that came in very useful.

I can't speak highly enough of this cabin, I have stayed in some middle-of-the-row places, and given the price and the size of the cabin I was fully expecting this to be average. I can't praise this place enough, the interaction with the owner, the place, the location, it was all just perfect. If you are after a romantic getaway, or after a large group getaway, or anything in between, then this cabin is perfect. I know when I return to the Rockies I will be after booking this exact place again! Thank you :)

A wonderful getaway

  • 4 of 5

My wife and 13 year old Labrador enjoyed our stay at this quaint and rustic cottage. Everything we needed was there, and I particularly enjoyed having a coffee grinder! There was a lot more room than we needed, and the cabin would be perfect for a large family. Next time we will bring some of our nieces and nephews. Internet was not working, but I wanted some time off the grid and the office did just fine without me.

The location was perfect for us, close enough to Black Hawk for the gambling and close to Nederland where we found some wonderful dining. Everywhere is a great view and very quiet. It isn't a bad drive to Estes Park either, and the Peak to Peak highway is a drive everyone should take at least once.

Tips on the rock pile in back; wait at least two full days to climb it if you are flatlanders like us! The view is definitely worth the hike, but it is pretty vertical back there!

Thanks Viveca for making this property available to us. We will be returning.

Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently had an elopement wedding at this lovely cabin. It's incredible! From the sunny game room, super cozy living room with fireplace, welcoming dining room, completely stocked kitchen (LOVE that vanilla cinnamon tea!) complete with pie plates to bake my quiches in, the three bedrooms that our MOH and BM loved, the laundry closet (though never used, but fully appreciated), the back porch with swing, front porch with fantastic grill and bountiful seating, and that outcropping! AMAZING VIEWS! We hung out up there multiple times per day. There are a couple ways to get up which is great for people with varying physical abilities/ages. Viveca and Greg were so exceptionally sweet and had a bottle of champagne waiting for us when we arrived. We enjoyed it with our wedding cake! Seriously, this place is amazing. Stay here. It's far enough away from 119 that it definitely feels secluded even though it's in a small (but very quiet) community. We recommend this cabin 100%.

Absolutely Wonderful and Amazing

  • 5 of 5

I searched long and hard for a cabin that would be suitable for our family gathering over 4th of July weekend and this cabin was outstanding, homey, comfortable and just perfect. There was plenty of room and beds for everyone and the home is loaded with charm. My 81 year old mother was with us and finding a place with no stairs was a priority. The 3rd bedroom with the 4 beds (1 set of bunk beds and 2 twins) is wonderful for all of the kids. Having rented many cabins before, I found this cabin to be exceptional. Viveca and Gregg go to great lengths to make sure that the cabin is completely stocked with everything....and I do mean EVERYTHING you might need during your stay. They were very easy to work with and the communication was great. I cannot say enough about this fabulous home. My family already wants to book it for Thanksgiving. TIP: Walk to the Shell station just south of the cabin. It's a 2 mile trip with the last mile being all up hill. It's a great workout!

Wedding Party lodging

  • 4 of 5

Our wedding party used the house for our accommodations the week of our wedding. The house was a great fit for our needs. We didn't really get a chance to use the porch or property. It seemed as though the side yard was used by the owner or other for storing their vehicles and other items. Though from the street this was a little disconcerting it did not distract from the inside which was very warm and comforting.

The beds were all very comfortable. The only problem is there are only two bathrooms and one is a master bath for 8 people. Can be a little tricky.

Owner's Response: Our cabin does have two full baths as advertised and one is in the master bedroom, but is accessible to the rest of the cabin. We are glad our cozy cabin met your needs, and congratulations to the bride and groom!
