Welcome to our beautiful home! This vintage house in historic St. Petersburg is not a typical rental property. This is our home that we have worked tirelessly to modernize and restore to the tropical oasis you see. For now, our careers are taking us to Corvallis, Oregon for a few years to complete graduate school. Please come and enjoy our home – the way we have – while we’re gone!

Features include two newly designed and custom- built bathrooms, the main with Italian travertine and cedar, and the guest bathroom with Indian slate tile. The kitchen was remodeled in spring 2010 with new fridge, stove, tile, and paint. Two main furnished bedrooms include new paint and window treatments. Front and rear living areas are “Florida tropical” themed with new paint and lighting. The bonus room is a versatile space, with a workstation, hi-speed internet access, extra sleeping space, and room for indoor games and play time on those (rare!) rainy days.

Recycling and composting stations are available for the eco-minded traveler.

The highlight of the house is the outside living space. The spacious patio area, which includes a private hot tub surrounded by tropical foliage, is the idyllic way to relax. This area makes for perfect dining al fresco.

Our home is located minutes from beautiful downtown, waterfront, and the historic St. Petersburg Pier. A wide variety of restaurants and bars are nearby with outside seating and waterfront views. Daytime activities such as shopping, movies, and museums are all available downtown. Local beach access at North Shore Park is a perfect swim spot for children or leisurely stroll for couples. Coffee Pot Bayou Park is a great place to take kids, launch a boat, and watch wildlife. St Petersburg Beach, with sugary sand and turquoise-blue water, is just fifteen minutes away. Restaurants, bars, and a coffee shop are all within walking distance from our home.

About Joe Piacenza

We bought this house after meeting during graduate school at the University of South Florida. Susie is a marine biologist, and if she could, would spend every day in or near the water. Joe is a mechanical engineer, with a penchant for vintage car restoration. Despite our disparate career interests, we both have loved working on this house since the day we moved in. This house has been our retreat from workaday stress and the starting point for many day trips.

Our favorite activity is riding our bikes from the house, along Coffee Pot Bayou, and into the downtown area. Here, we’ll stop for dinner or meet friends for drinks. We also love to bring a picnic dinner out to Pass-a-Grille Beach, swim in the warm tranquil water, and watch the sunset.

This is not a typical rental. This property was purchased as our home and we have treated it as such. We wanted something close to the water with easy access to the beach, shopping, and entertainment.

What makes this house unique

Renting a house is very practical if you are traveling with a large family. With laundry facilities, new appliances, two bathrooms, private hot tub, and sleeping for 8, it makes for a comfortable stay that is much more affordable than a hotel suite. In addition, it is a short walk to several restaurants and coffee shops such as Starbucks, Applebees, Red Mesa (authentic Mexican), PDQ, and World of Beer. In addition, a free day Rod and Reel rental from the Pier Bait Shop is included with your reservation.

Wonderful Stay at Casa Verde

My husband, 15 month old and I needed a quick getaway and Casa Verde was the answer! A hotel room did not allow the space a toddler needs. Casa Verde is budget friendly, in a great location and the hot tub is a great way to end the day. Joe and his Dad were prompt to answer any questions we had. We were so pleased with our choice to stay here we did not read the posting on the fridge. Everything you need to know about wi-if, the hot tub and etc. is located on the fridge. We are looking forward to visiting Casa Verde again. The Taco Bus and Fray's Doughnuts are to die for! Again you cannot beat the location. Casa Verde is close to everything!

Great Home for Visit Home

The house was clean and set up for housekeeping from the very first. I felt that any problems would be addressed by the owners without a problem; I just didn't have any! There was plenty of room for our family of six, and the two bathrooms came in handy with the three teenagers! My youngest loved the large backyard with the lizards and tropical plants. And we all enjoyed evenings in the hot tub. I'm from the area so I was very happy to be able to rent something so close to my parents. The neighborhood is in a quiet location but still very central to downtown and the beaches. I liked walking to Starbucks and to the several restaurants nearby. It was the perfect cute Florida home and I would definitely recommend the home to friends and family. .

We wanted a house that was as close as possible to our daughter's wedding at the Womens' Club in the historic NE area of downtown St. Pete. The location could not have been better.
It was perfect for our needs.From the listing photos I was able to determine that there would be ample room for our wedding preparations. The bonus room proved to be a great area for the hair and
make up, roomy with ample natural light.The property was clean,well maintained and tastefully renovated, we loved the VW memorabilia.
The garden is private and tastefully landscaped. We really enjoyed relaxing on the porch.
We will be recommending this to our friends and relatives and if we are in need of staying in
St Pete area again we will certainly plan on staying here. Joe is great to work with and was very helpful in answering our questions.

Casa Verde

We absolutely loved Casa Verde. It was the perfect location near everything. Our favorite part was the backyard with grill and patio and hot tub. We made some very special memories and it was so relaxing to cook at home and then enjoy the patio with lots of conversation and a bottle of wine to share. The home was spacious and well kept and the owners were extremely accommodating. We loved the new updated shower and the decor was bright and cheery. We have already recommended this to others and we will definitely return again. Thank you for a most enjoyable stay.

Spot On!

Our crew of four chose Casa Verde as our land base for a national regatta. Perfect accommodations on all fronts. Clean, spacious, optimum layout, two bathrooms were prized.

But most importantly was Joe and his fathers welcoming personal handling of our booking and stay.

We will be back, assuming we qualify...
