Wilson Pond Camps - May 2012 Fishing Trip
Submitted: June 2, 2012

I want to share with you my experiences during our week long May 2012 vacation at Wilson Pond Camps in north central Maine on the banks of Lower Wilson Pond. My two adult sons and I flew up there from the southern US to go trout fishing and experience some cooler weather in the deep woods of Maine. All of our expectations for the trip were met. The cottage overlooking the lake was very clean and beautiful. We caught thirty beautiful trout (brook, Togue and Landlocked Salmon) with the help of our excellent guide Chris Young. We hiked the awesome Gulf Hagas gorge. We saw a pair of bald eagles up close in their nest. We kayaked. We rented a nice fishing boat. We saw Moose. And we had nice driving tours of the Maine countryside.
The only downside to our trip were the biting black flies which happened to be at their peak. We were able to dealwith those menaces with head nets and 40% DEET bug spray.
I highly recommend Wilson Pond Camps (www.wilsonpondcamps.com), and the services of fishing guide Chris Young if you want to get away from the city life for awhile, relax and experience the best of Maine.
Kind regards,
Mike C. from Houston Texas
