My boyfriend and I came to visit Maine for the 1st time and this was his 1st time at a cottage like this. We were both in love with the location, it was exactly how described but better in person. The cottage and location were very clean, organized and peaceful. Martine was so warm, friendly and welcoming. We had our own bbq on the property and Martine was kind enough to lend us lighter fluid because we forgot ours, which saved our bbq dinner from not happening :) we made use of their canoe rental which was so much fun, we enjoyed the beautiful scenery along the pond and had our own private space to relax. The other campers were so friendly as well. Everything inside the cabin was perfect we had all that we needed and will definitely look into coming back, there are so many hikes and recreational activities to explore there in the area and we want to return. The town nearby has all you need also including yummy pizza and friendly locals :) If you are looking for the perfect getaway, this is the place to stay whether you are a couple looking for a romantic time or a family wanting to have some fun :)
I want to share with you my experiences during our week long May 2012 vacation at Wilson Pond Camps in north central Maine on the banks of Lower Wilson Pond. My two adult sons and I flew up there from the southern US to go trout fishing and experience some cooler weather in the deep woods of Maine. All of our expectations for the trip were met. The cottage overlooking the lake was very clean and beautiful. We caught thirty beautiful trout (brook, Togue and Landlocked Salmon) with the help of our excellent guide Chris Young. We hiked the awesome Gulf Hagas gorge. We saw a pair of bald eagles up close in their nest. We kayaked. We rented a nice fishing boat. We saw Moose. And we had nice driving tours of the Maine countryside.
The only downside to our trip were the biting black flies which happened to be at their peak. We were able to dealwith those menaces with head nets and 40% DEET bug spray.
I highly recommend Wilson Pond Camps (www.wilsonpondcamps.com), and the services of fishing guide Chris Young if you want to get away from the city life for awhile, relax and experience the best of Maine.

We found an very nice and clean cottage for our one week stay.
The location on the shore of the Wilson Pond is incredibly beautiful.
Perfect for fishing, relaxing and hiking.
During our stay, we explored the calm waters of Lower and Upper Wilson Pond - eye to eye with Loons and nesting Bald Eagles. Martin catched some delicious Lake Trouts, White Perches and an Pumpkinseed.
For excursions ask Martine and Bob for the information package - they have a lot of brochures, maps and recommendations.
The owners are very friendly and always there for the guests.
We had an excellent vacation.

If you are looking for a spotlessly clean cottage located in one of the most beautiful areas in Maine, this is it!! We always enjoy our quiet, relaxing time in this slice of heaven. And, there are plenty of outdoor activites to enjoy in the area. We've been vacationing at Wilson Pond Camps for over 10 years. The warm and friendly welcome from owners, Bob & Martine Young, each time we arrive makes us feel as though we're coming home.
For the past 14 years, we have enjoyed the serenity and refreshing at Wilson Pond Camps. Bob & Martine are the quintessential hosts, who make you feel as if you are their best friends, while providing an atmosphere of rest and the adventure of hunting, fishing and siteseeing in the area. Their son, Chris, provides guided tours that are breathtaking and rewarding. We highly recommend a visit and stay with this gifted family.
Quiet luxury in the north woods! IMMACULATE doesn't even describe the property and the cabins. I grew up staying in hotels and this was fabulous. These are not camps, these are beautiful, charming lodge/cabins, fully equipped kitchens, baths, private outdoor areas with grills, private docks (most cabins I think) and an incredible view. I prefer staying here on Wilson Pond than on Moosehead in Greenville for the quiet and privacy. And Greenville is less than 5 minutes away.
Other Activities: steamboat cruiseship, seaplane rides, guided moose and wildlife safaris
