Ticonderoga Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description
Farmhouse, 3 Bedrooms + Sleeping Porch, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 7)
Welcome to Hilltop Lodge! Located in Heart Bay on the northern end of Lake George (just beyond the famous Rogers Rock), Hilltop Lodge is worlds away from the busy southern end of Lake George.
Built in the 1880's on a hill overlooking the lake, Hilltop Lodge was the original Cook family homestead. While the hand pump and out-house are long gone, replaced of course by modern amenities, the property still retains the feel of a bygone era. Hilltop Lodge is the most private of our properties. From the Adirondack chairs on the spacious front porch, you can overlook Lake George, and from the back of the house, you can enjoy long views of a meadow and the surrounding mountains, while watching the horses and deer graze.
A stay at Hilltop Lodge offers a beautiful, comfortable, and safe spot where you and your family can enjoy a vacation in a natural, lakeside environment. Take your kids for a boat ride (You'll have a private dock for your boat), or go water-skiing and swimming. You can kayak or canoe, go fishing or take a walk up our 300 acre nature preserve to see spectacular views of Lake George.
You can golf at the nearby Ticonderoga Country Club or play tennis at the free public courts. You might consider a drive to the Adirondack High Peaks region, and it's only a short ferry ride to Vermont where you can enjoy excellent shopping, antiquing and unparalleled scenic drives. After a full day of activities, there's that fantastic front porch to come back to, where you can settle with a good book and a glass of wine, and enjoy the lovely views of one of America's most beautiful lakes.
Hilltop Lodge comes fully equipped with all the amenities to make your stay comfortable. The main floor has a large kitchen, a full bathroom, a separate dining room and a living room with a working fireplace. In addition to the spacious porch which graces the front of the house, Hilltop Lodge has a screened sleeping porch with two twins beds, where you can experience the feel of sleeping outdoors without any discomfort. Laundry facilities are conveniently located on the main floor. The second floor of Hilltop Lodge has a smaller bathroom, one bedroom with a queen-size bed, one bedroom with a double bed, and a third bedroom with a single.

About The Owner
Samuel Cook was a forge master in the Revolutionary War. After the war ended, he settled his family in the Ticonderoga area, and the Cooks have lived here ever since. Mountains and islands still carry the Cook name, and The Lake George Land Conservancy's Cook Mountain Preserve (open to the public) is less than a mile from this rental property.
The Cook family retains almost 300 acres of its original Colonial era property, and we feel a deep responsibility to preserve and maintain the beauty and environmental integrity of our inheritance.
We are pleased to be able to share our special property with others who come for the rest and renewal that a vacation at Lake George can provide. Many of our guests have been coming here for years, and two families are fourth generation returnees! We are a family with deep roots and a deep love for Lake George and the Adirondacks. Our children grew up here, learned to swim and water ski here, and in turn developed an appreciation for nature and our precious planet. We hope you and your family might feel the same.

Why The Owner chose Ticonderoga
Our ancestor made a wise and far-sighted choice when he came to the shores of Lake George in the 1700's. the Cook family still resides on these shores, and we invite you to share in the special beauty and history of our family property.
What makes this farmhouse unique
Yesterday a pair of great blue herons flew by in search of dinner for their young. Today, two loons were calling across the bay. Tomorrow, who knows what magic you might encounter?
A short hike up Cook mountain to Rogers Rock will afford you breathtaking views. From the top, you can see 2/3rds of the length of Lake George, and in the distance, the Green mountains of Vermont. To the West, you can see into the Pharoah Lakes Wilderness area. This location is a nature lovers dream. You can visit nearby Fort Ticonderoga, and if you come the last week of June or in early September, you can see hundreds of French and Indian War-- or Revolutionary War, re-enactors encamped on the fort's grounds. You could take a moonlight swim or an early morning paddle, then water ski all day if you wish! You could use the property for a writer's retreat or a family reunion, a wedding or a honeymoon site. Dream it, then do it!
