I was born and raised in Florence and am a teacher of Italian. I am proud of my home town and love to share my knowledge with visitors. I hope those who come to stay at my apartment will always remember their trip to this city and that staying here will be part of this memory.
The Owner purchased this apartment in 2004
Antonio was a wonderful host. He met us later than intended because we missed our train from Rome, gave us a map with the major highlights, made sure we had what we needed and left us alone (our preference).
The place was exactly what we wanted. Comfortable for two and easily walkable to all major attractions. Santa Croce is just on the corner, and the square does get crowded and loud on the weekends. I would recommend staying out to enjoy the nightlife with everyone else on Saturday, because the room can get loud.
We also highly recommend Pino's (aka Salumeria Verdi) a short walk away on Via Giuseppe Verdi for delicious 3.50 euro panini's. We ate there every day of our stay after discovering it.
If/when we make it back to Florence we will be staying here again.
If you are looking for a place to stay in Florence, this is it. We had a wonderful 4 days here, it was hands down our favorite of the accommodations we had on our 2 weeks in Italy! You can tell Antonio really cares that his guests have a comfortable stay; he has the place nicely decorated and stocked with all the essentials so you truly feel like you have a "home" while you are there. The bed is comfortable, the towels are large and soft, and having a washing machine meant we could pack light. And the shower had great hot water pressure, not always the case on the top floor in Italy!
On top of that, the location is fantastic. Close and convenient to everything, but still very quiet. (Only exception is Saturday night, when Piazza Santa Croce is apparently the popular place to hang for all the local young people. But this was not actually very bad and Antonio had let us know in advance it might be the case).
It was so wonderful to get a slow start some mornings, sit and relax on the couch in the sun-room and listen to the church bells. Our only complaint was we didn't want to leave after just four days! It's almost tempting not to post this review, so the secret doesn't get out and we can be sure it will be available next time we want to visit. :) Thanks again Antonio!
I have just returned home after spending an enjoyable week with my sister in this clean, charming, well maintained apartment, close to the Piazza Santa Croce. This location is in easy walking distance of the Uffizi, the Duomo and other attractions of Florence. The apartment definitely lived up to my expectations. There was even a hairdryer! A variety of pictures, plants and ornaments made the place feel like home, and I would have loved to have stayed longer.
The bed was comfortable. There was plenty of hot water, and even a clothes line, accessible from the sunroom. We didn't do much cooking, but there seemed to be an adequate selection of pots and pans and utensils and a coffee maker. We had a quick breakfast, before heading out for a busy day of sightseeing. Lunch was our main meal of the day, and there are many excellent restaurants, close to Santa Croce. One we particularly liked was Francesco Vini on the Piazza de' Peruzzi. In the evenings, we bought food and wine from the nearby supermarket and enjoyed it in the sunroom. An afternoon treat was a visit to Grom or Vivoli for gelato.
Antonio was very helpful. He took the time to explain how things in the apartment worked, and had sparkling wine, water and snacks for us. He also arranged an early morning taxi to take us to the airport.
I would definitely recommend this apartment to family or friends. My only concern was the number of steps to the 3rd floor, but as the week wore on the climb became easier.
Antonio met us on time and helped carry our luggage up the stairs where a bottle of champagne and snacks waited. The apartment is perfect if you want to feel you are a part of Florence living. While it is small, it was clean and well maintained and only steps from Santa Croce (which is an excellent landmark if you get lost). The train station is a fifteen minute walk away. Take a taxi as the sidewalks are narrow and the rough paving stone roads make dragging luggage a challenge. The taxi cost us 13 Euro. All in all we loved our stay at the apartment and would not hestitate to recommend it to anyone. One word of warning, there are 66 narrow steps up to the apartment.(yes we counted them) If you are physically challenged this may not be a choice for you. Again, we loved our time there!
We had a wonderful stay in Antonio's apartment. It is right next to Santa Croce church, in an ideal location in the heart of Florence. It is no more than a 15 minute walk to almost anywhere in the city. Wonderful restaurants, shops and museums in very short walking distance. The apartment itself is on the top floor of a building, was clean, had a beautiful sun room and a comfortable bed. May not be ideal to cook big dinners in, as the kitchen is very small, but the sunroom is perfect for having a glass of wine or bringing back lunch-a wonderful experience that you wouldn't have in a hotel. Antonio is a pleasure to deal with, and left us a snack and champagne at our arrival. Would highly recommend this apartment-you can't stay better in Florence!
We spent 3 days here in Antonio's appartment and loved it all! The location is right beside the Santa Croce church and square and thus provided a perfect venue from which to explore Florence. Walking distance from the train staion and an easy stroll to The Duomo plus many museums and great restaurants. Florence proved to be our favourity city of our 3 week adventure through France/Italy with the many sites to take in ensuring we were never bored. Clean, safe and culturally rich. Antonio was a charming host and made sure on our arrival that we were familiar with all details necessary. The suite is cozy, clean and quite relaxing after putting many Kilometers behind us discovering Florence.
And yes, the Gelato is quite incredible and since the weather was so hot during our day became part of our daily routine.
