We met at the University of Arizona in our home town of Tucson. Bruce has earned his MBA and is a VP of a major international BPO corporation. Deb has earned both a bachelors and masters degree in architecture and works project to project - one of which was remodeling and refurbishing of this great modern cabin!
Debra purchased this cabin in 2010
Although Deb is a fourth generation Arizonan and we both love the stark beauty of the desert; four of our five children were born in Pennsylvania and we bought this home, in part, to honor our relocation agreement with them for snow outings and regular visits to the mountains. We love the diversity of Arizona. In just a few hours we can choose the warmth of the desert or the cool of the mountains!
We love the quiet beauty of the forest. For us, visiting the cabin, is like hitting the 'reset' button when our hectic lifestyles gets a little overwhelming.
As a family we enjoy going for long walks together. Deb's preferred routes are the quiet dirt roads through the forest. There are so many wildflowers in the summer, and you can usually catch glimpses of deer and elk, and the small forest creatures along the way don't seem to mind if you stop and watch them, especially at dawn and dusk. Bruce prefers walks along the nearby Mogollon Air Park runway. Obviously, it isn't too busy if people are walking along it, and the majority of the residents (particularly the retired folk) leave their hangers open and love to discuss their amazing aircraft and equally amazing lives. We've see everything from vintage aircraft to the most advanced personal jets, and been enthralled by all their adventures.
The youngest members of the family love to visit the local parks and playgrounds, as well as the Byson ranch petting zoo. The library is always one of our first stops too. They have an amazing array of entertaining visitors that come for children and adults alike. The library is a hub of community activity as well, and you can always learn about upcoming local events there too. They have a great computer room, if you decide to leave your's behind.
Of course, the older children love to ski! The White Mountain ski resorts offer some of the finest skiing in the Western United States.
Deb's least favorite thing to do is shop, but even she is impressed with the clever offerings available from antiques to handcrafts. For all the things you forgot to pack - the Dollar General and Family Dollar stores are more like an updated version of my Grandfather's old General Store than 'dollar' stores. You can get groceries, toiletries, clothes, toys, books, dvds, household good - everything.
The owners are extremely easy to work with, the cabin is beautiful, and the location couldn't be any better. The house if fully stocked with all of the bedding, towels, kitchen utensils, plates, pots, pans, cofffee maker, BBQ, etc.
We had a party of 4 adults and 4 children aged 10 months to 6 years. There are pleanty of games and DVDs for the kiddos, and a nice little area behind the home for kids to run around and play. There is a master with a nice king sized bed, a second bedroom with a queen, a third bedroom with two twins (can be made into a bunk bed and extra mattresses under the bed), and a loft with two twins. The views are amazing from the loft and the porch. There are plenty of OHV trails and hiking trails near if you want to go exploring, or you can just relax on the porch and take it all in.
Great place and location. Close enough to anything that you might want. If you want to get away and relax in peace and quiet, this is the place. Cabin was wonderful and the view was fantastic. Love sitting on the deck at night watching the lightning and listening to the thunder. The owners were great. Would recommend this cabin to anybody
We enjoyed the cabin. Exactly as described. The view was amazing. The only thing that may have been better was if there was television. The owner did provide netflix as an option. The porch was enclosed so next time I will bring my dog.
The home was exactly as pictured and exceeded our expectations. The owners have taken great care to ensure you enjoy your stay. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the basics as well as tools and gadgets we have in our kitchen at home which make cooking easy.
The owners were very responsive to returning emails and a pleasure to deal with.
This cabin is really a gem and is everything it presents itself to be. It is far enough away from other cabins that you definitely have privacy. The deck is such an ideal place to sit and drink coffee, watch birds or critters or gaze at the stars. It is so peaceful, it was nice just to enjoy the quiet. There is small, private airport just a few blocks from the cabin so we got to see some small planes take off and land. Again, you could barely hear them.
The cabin itself is very nicely decorated and updated. Both bathrooms have double sinks. There are 3 1/2 bedrooms-Queen downstairs, another with twin beds, up in the loft has another set of twins beds and the Master has a King. There is also a walk-in closet upstairs with a washer and dryer. The kitchen is well stocked with all the essentials to cook. There is a coffee maker, toaster oven and microwave, not to mention the huge refrigerator. There is a nice dining room table that fits 8 easily and looks out over the back deck area. There is even an AC unit for those times when you need it. Not all cabins have AC, so that was nice. The cabin also has Netflix, which was also a nice touch.
The town of Overgaard and Heber both have some great places to dine, if you aren't in the mood to cook. This is a great cabin and the only regret I have is that we didn't stay longer! We will definitely be back!
The owners were easy to deal with, very straight forward and answered all questions. They have a lovely cabin and I'm glad they rent it out. I saw of few of the other cabins I had thought about renting while I was there and was very, very glad I chose this one.
Will go back again, hopefully sooner rather than later!
This Cabin is exactly like advertised! Owner was always prompt, efficient and helpful during the booking of the cabin as well as during our stay! This cabin is clean, quiet, with a gorgeous view! The cabin's beds are comfortable and everything was in working order. This Cabin is in a great location! The area also has great places to dine near by if you don't feel like cooking! We ate the Red Onion and June's cafe! Both dining experiences great! Friendly Staff with good food! The area also has two small markets and a dollar general near by for supplies. We enjoyed the quiet fresh air while hiking! The star gazing on the beautiful huge deck was amazing!
