BEACHFRONT 5 BEDROOM BEACH SHACK.

Anna Maria House Rental Photos and Description

Villa, 5 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 10-12)

Experience the Florida west coast in a whole new way. Welcome to paradise! Bean Point Beach Cottage, a private home on the north tip, actually Bean Point which is the MOST northern tip, of Anna Maria. Opportunities abound for recreation, rest and exploration. Watch for dolphins; throw a fishing line in, collect shells, take a bike ride or curl up on one of the comfy couches and watch the sunset from one of the finest beach front homes you'll ever wiggle your toes into. Ever. If you like, you can tiptoe down to the sand for a dip under the stars. Up a spiral staircase; both master bedrooms feature king size beds and share a master bath. Twin beds furnish a guest room, bunk beds in a fourth bedroom plus a full and twin in the fifth bedroom. Flat screen TVs in both masters and the great room just off from the kitchen. A huge dining room table seats 10 for celebratory dinners! We love the recreation room with another flat screen, a fuss ball table, billiard table and a tiki bar. Can you say family fun? Life is good as you watch the afternoon slip into evening and enjoy the sun setting like a tangerine into the bright blue waves. You will want to come back again and again! Actually you won't want to leave. If you are booking online your rates will be changed manually by the rental agent after you have posted your reservation. Please refer to the main page where the unit photos are posted for the holiday pricing.

The previous review written is very factual according to our stay, we experienced the same things they did except the roaches were not a problem. Our family cooked every night and the oven vents the hot air into the kitchen so it was miserable cooking. The freezer worked but the frig never kept things cold. The furniture is dirty so we put sheets over the furniture. The walkway leading to the beach had a broken board so we called the realty company and they had it replaced. The landing on the outside stair case needs to be addressed. We had a problem opening the sliding glass door so my husband got the hose and cleaned out the track so we could get in and out. The only kitchen light burned out so we replaced the bulb AND put the glass cover back on that was laying on a kitchen shelf when we arrived. Having property at the beach requires constant upkeep and hopefully the owners will address these concerns. We had a cancer patient and a one year old with us and one of the big pluses is the location, it was exceptional for them and we were grateful for that.

This place is a dump! (avoid it & Sato real estate)

While the pictures on VRBO paint the picture of a quaint, tranquil beachfront rental, in reality, the place is a dump, a hazard, and a vacation wrecker.

Why?

Cochroaches- Oh, yeah roaches! Imagine you have babies who sleep in pack-n-plays. Now you walk into their rooms at 7am and find cochroaches on the side of the pack-n-play. We called Sato, and they promptly had someone come out and spray. This helped a bit, but we continued to have roaches for the next few days. (house needs to be fumigated.)

The house itself- This house is your typical Florida add on nightmare. It's clear that 2-3 different add-on projects have left the house feeling dis-jointed. The yellow & black construction tape at various threasholds w/in the house signal clear issues as floor elevations on the first floor change 3 different levels, depending which room you walk into. Might sound like I'm picky...but try getting up in the middle of the night for a crying baby where you're walking on the lower floor of the house, yet you throw your back out b/c of going off a 2-3" ledge when walking from the main room, into a bedroom or dining room.

AC- Given the additions to this house, there were multiple AC units to contend with. In August, it's 95 degrees outside and 85 degrees in the house. Upstairs bedrooms are cold, yet the 10+ fans in the house are telling of the fact that the downstairs main room and kitchen don't have proper AC control. In fact, don't bother cooking here, b/c the kitchen gets insanely hot.

Fridge- Doesn't keep the food warm at all. So we called Sato and they amazing replaced it w/in a few hours. Sadly, the "new" fridge was really an old fridge (but "new" b/c it came from other property, I guess.) Well, the new fridge also fails to keep food cold and we never got the freezer to even make ice.

Furnishings- Hardly new, stained, and dirty.

The people renting the property didn't really believe me on the roaches, so we brought them a cup full when we turned in the keys. Oddly, they were repulsed and disgusted. Wow, that's how I felt staying in the place!

Avoid this place and Sato.

Owner's Response: It is unfortunate that you did not enjoy your stay at the Beach Shack. Our office and the owner try their best to make sure everyone enjoys their stay on Anna Maria Island. This is an older Florida beach home that has a great location right on the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay. This home has been consistently rented since the beginning of the year and we have not had any incidents similar to the ones you are describing. There are also many renters that have returned to this home repeatedly. When we hear instances like this we hope to make sure they do not happen again.

You seem to be upset with the management company yet you state in your review that Sato responded quickly to all of your concerns. You also point out that the owner’s had plenty of fans around the home to keep the house cool in the event that the air condition is not adequate for some of the hotter Florida days. The owner’s also provide as many amenities as possible to make your stay enjoyable and are always open to suggestions or requests.

We apologize that there were circumstances out of our control that didn’t allow you to fully enjoy your stay. We hope to see you again on the Island soon.

Great Family Vacation

  • 4 of 5
We very much enjoyed our time at this home, and the location is fantastic. Its a private, low traffic area, and the beach access is top notch. The beaches are public, but there were very few people in this particular area. The water is calm and clear, you can put your lounge chair right in the water and not get plowed with waves. Our 2 year old could play in the water and float around with us in his life jacket without us worrying. We fished right off the beach and caught several nice fish, which we filleted and grilled on the deck. Be careful walking in the water though, there are some shells in there that can be sharp! Gorgeous sunsets, the best we have ever seen. We rented a Kayak from Beach Bums and took it right off the beach every day, which was great. Blue Herons walk on the beach, and there is one that lives in a big nest in the neighbor's tree!

The house itself is nice, and very sufficient for our needs, as we spent most of our time outside anyway. Its not fancy, but sufficient. The A/C was fine. Unless you like the house REALLY cool, you should not have a problem.

Anna Maria Island was great. Not busy, not touristy. Several nice restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream and so on. The Sandbar restaurant was excellent, as was Two Scoops and Ginnie and Janes. If you have kids, there is a nice playground just up the street, just past the Rod and Reel Pier. Overall, we had a very nice time and would not hesitate to vacation here again.

Birthday vacation

  • 2 of 5
This property has excellent views and access to a beautiful beach, but consider it is on the inlet from the Gulf to the bay, and not ocean front. That's ok, though, the beach is great. The house itself, however, is a severe disappointment. The furnishings are stained and dirty, there was a large water stain above the living area and the entire interior is faded and in need of work. A/C is great in game room and upstairs bedrooms, but almost non-existent in living and kitchen areas. The refrigerator is old and will not keep fresh foods at proper temperatures. But most disturbing of all was the blatant false advertisement, by the realty company, of an outdoor bar, which was the deciding factor for our group in choosing this property. There is no outside bar, and when questioned, the agent simply said the city had made the owner remove it. So why is it still in the virtual tour? I would not recommend this property or the agency managing it to anyone.

Owner's Response: Dear Guest,

We are very sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the property.

Just to clarify a few things, the furniture in the home is no more than one year old. The sofas and rugs were just professionally cleaned right before your arrival on September 6, 2012. You're right. There is a stain on the ceiling. There was an A/C leak. There was no time to replace the drywall before you came. It's going to be replaced as soon as we have a gap between bookings. Sometimes things are out of our hands and we do the best we can. This is an older beach home with new interior furnishings. This was explained to you prior to booking. That is why we call it the Bean Point Beach Shack. It's nothing fancy. Just a bright happy place to spend time with family right on the beach. You have your choice of the gulf to the left or the bay to your right. The best of both worlds. To address the A/C. This was just replaced. It's a new unit. Living in Florida I understand the homes can get a little warm in the afternoons. Especially when you have children in and out all day. A/C tends to escape. I always suggest to keep the blinds drawn during the hottest part of the day. It helps. I do not know how old the fridge is but we have not had any complaints until now. Last but not least, the outside bar. The city told us it have it removed. It was not listed in the main photos or amenities but it was in the virtual tour which was overlooked. It has now since been removed. There was no blatant false advertising on purpose. There was one photo mixed in with another 30. It was simply overlooked. No one was trying to be deceitful.
We hope to hear from you in the future. We would love to help you find something more suitable for your family.

I want to go back!!!

  • 5 of 5
The house is located on the northern end of the island, on the beach, about a mile off the trolley route. After we picked up the keys, we parked our car and left it in the driveway for our entire stay--no need to drive anywhere. We did end up renting bikes which was perfect. The location of the house on the beach is amazing. The beaches on Anna Maria are public, so you can step out your back door, kick off your shoes, walk to the water, turn left and go....a long ways. Also to the left is a very neat sandbar that is easy to walk/swim out to. Go right and you can walk in about five minutes to the Rod and Reel pier for some tasty grouper and a red stripe beer. The sunset from "your" beach is not to be forgotten. We saw countless forms of wildlife--tiny lizards, manta rays, dolphins, fish, crabs, birds, birds, birds. The house itself is very comfortable and contains everything you need for a beach stay. The kitchen is well-stocked with plates and pots and pans. The house was clean. There are plenty of bath towels and beach towels and chairs. The pool table and foosball table in the bar area are a nice touch. Having access to WIFI was great so we could post pictures on FB and make our friends and families jealous. There are several flat screen TVs, too, but we didn't turn them on. No need to! The "finishes" in the kitchen and bathrooms are a bit dated--old cabinets, countertops, tiles; however, the place felt nice and comfy--like a favorite broken-in pair of jeans. Everyone we worked with at the real estate agency was kind and extremely helpful and welcoming. As long as you aren't expecting furnishings similar to the Ritz Hotel you will love your stay at the Bean Point Beach Shack.
