We warmly welcome you to come experience our mountain home that pleasantly balances nature and refinement. Neslted in the center of the Lutsen Ski Resort area at Caribou Highlands our beautiful mountain get-away is well-appointed, relaxing, and memorable, with a common-sense price tag. Book with us and avoid the risk of the front desk booking you in a place that is less than gratifying.
Imagine yourself arriving in your reserved parking space, bypassing front office check-in and being welcomed by our 2nd and 3rd floor professionally renovated and decorated home where the creature comforts are matched by a carefully retained sense of place. We have room for six with a queen-size bed, a twin bunk upstairs and a couch-hideaway bed downstairs. Rare for a single studio home, we have two full bathrooms allowing family and friends to spread out when preparing for the day’s events.
You will find over $20,000 of recent improvements including new wood paneling, cedar log furniture and stair railing, cabinet doors and countertops, river stone hearth, appliances, flat-screen TV, lighting, carpet, rugs, linens, tile, art, fresh paint and more. These enhancements transformed our place into a modern and distinctive North Woods retreat.
Our highly sought-after second and third floor location comes with a private deck where you will discover strikingly beautiful, miles-long, unobstructed views of Eagle, Ullr, and Mystery Mountains. The wild Poplar River meanders in the valley beneath you, and the landmark Poplar River Falls crashes like a distant exclamation point of the Sawtooth Mountain range. Fall season offers a spectacular vista of color that will make you smile during the season of change. During the winter, enjoy the sights and sounds of the skiers swishing by as you overlook multiple ski runs, while relaxing from your bird’s-eye view.
Our home is centrally located within the Lutsen Mountain Ski Resort complex and is within walking distance of several great restaurants and bars like Moguls, Poplar River Pub, or Papa Charlie’s – (check the local listings link for live bands that play throughout the year.) For that special occasion where fine dining and water views are unmatched along the North Shore, visit the romantic and historic Lutsen Resort Dining Room located where the Poplar River spills into Lake Superior, just a 3-minute drive from our home.
Regardless of what season brings you here, the location is full of new experiences and majestic views. In the winter, our ski-in, ski-out locale gives you immediate access to the slopes as you utilize your private ski equipment locker and hopping on Bridge Run or Moose Access ski runs. For those colorful fall days, hiking and mountain biking trails abound for miles. For three seasons of the year, you can take advantage of on-site tennis or kayaking, canoeing, and golf nearby. And don’t forget what we are internationally famous for – fishing! For summertime fun, our pools (one is indoors and heated) are located “a hop, skip, and a jump” away. It is alongside the children’s playground and BBQ pits where you can grill your favorite summertime feast or catch of the day. When finishing the day’s activities, our on-site Superior Waters Wellness Center can massage you back to a relaxing state of mind and body; or if you feel a bit more sociable, lie back and enjoy the indoor hot tub. If solitude is your preference, return to your place and unwind by enjoying your favorite beverage by the fire.
Your vacation may not be complete without a trip to Grand Marais, a short twenty minute drive up the scenic North Shore Highway. It is considered one of the most picturesque waterside towns in the country. There you can explore the enchanting namesake harbor, art galleries, fishing tackle, variety stores, a marina, and old favorites like Sven and Ole’s Pizza and the Blue Water Café. For the bit more adventuresome foodie, visit My Sister’s Place (for their famous burgers) or Dockside Fish Market both having aired on the Travel Channel’s acclaimed “Bizarre Foods” show hosted by Andrew Zimmern. Grand Marais holds festivities year round for local and vacationers alike.
We want you to enjoy our home as much as we do, and we hope that your stay here will be filled with fond memories. Come back in a different season to see this beautiful mountain home in another light, and treat yourself to this fun and affordable refinement again and again!
