Bad Freienwalde is located about 50 kilometres east of Berlin and 10 kilometres from the border of Poland. Coming from Berlin you reach a low mountain range with deciduous forests, lakes and the charming contrast of the Oderbruch's plain scenery. In the small town of Bad Freienwalde the oldest health resort of Brandenburg is located. Directly adjoined to the backyard are magnificent old woods - recommended for walking-tours on the footsteps of the famous German poet Theodor Fontane. In the Oderbruch countryside, that stretches till the border of Poland, you experience a plain landscape, homeland of a rich population of birds. Easy to reach by car are the 'Parstein-lake' (motorboats are prohibited) in the biosphere reserve Schorfheide / Chorin with a famous old monastery and possibilities to bathe and for water sports. Public swimming pool, ski-jump and shopping possibilities can be reached easy by foot in 8 minutes.
