COUNTRY HOUSE WITH MOUNTAIN VIEW - MINUTES FROM MONTPELIER, VERMONT'S CAPITAL

Montpelier House Rental Photos and Description

Cedar 3 story A-frame, 4 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms on 70 pristine acres. Sleeps 8.

Our beautiful cedar ski chalet, where we lived for over 10 years, is privately nestled among evergreen tress and yet only 6 miles from Montpelier. The cultural center of Central Vermont, Montpelier is home to many great restaurants, theaters, live music venues, and numerous other cultural events. Our large open kitchen and cathedral ceiling are great for evening meals while listening to music. The spacious living room has a magnificent view of sunsets over Hunger and Worcester mountains, with hiking trails nearby. The sound of a brook running through the backyard lulls us to sleep. On cold nights, radiant floor heat keeps our feet toasty. Outside lies a fire pit for evening bonfires. One mile from the house is the Wrightsville reservoir, a large lake suitable for canoe, kayaking, swimming, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and ice skating. Most ski areas are one hour or less away (Bolton, Stowe, Mad River, Sugarbush). Cross-country skiing area is a five mile drive away. Burlington and Lake Champlain are 1 hour away. Nearby are Goddard College, Norwich University, and New England Culinary Institute which operates two restaurants in town. We have accommodations for groups up to 8; contact us for details. Only Verizon phones work here.

I am a semi retired chocolatier. My partner Jackie is a retired reading specialist. Having moved into town, we are renting our country house. It would make a perfect Vermont getaway.

Allan and Jackie purchased this house in 1997

70 arces of conserved land mostly wooded with lots of wildlife. The house is quiet and peaceful, the woods are a refuge and the city is a stone's throw away.

3 floors give each room in the house some privacy and yet the open living room and kitchen provide a place to gather.

Fantastic retreat!

It's a truly magical spot, perfect for kids. Ample room inside with plenty of space to run around outside yet also feel you are nestled in a VT meadow. Outdoor fire pit was a real plus -- great for stargazing and evening smores. And location could not be better.

Simply Amazing

  • 5 of 5
This is a beautiful home. We were very satisfied with everything about this property. The drive back and forth to Sugarbush was simple and the proximity to Montpelier is a plus. The owner was very quick to respond to any questions we had and was very accommodating.

Great country setting with lots of room for eight.

  • 4 of 5
We arrived to find a welcoming selection of homemade sweets, a clean and sunny contemporary home and directions on how to make everything work. Any questions were happily answered by the owner. Lots of woods to explore out back and small slopes for young sled riders. Only two small problems: too hot in the upstairs bedroom (cannot regulate the heat), and a toilet handle was loose... neither one affected our enjoyment of this home.

My Home Away from Home!

  • 5 of 5
I will definitely be back, this vacation home is in a perfect location for my family and I to spend time with my son who currently attends Norwich University. It was an easy commute back and forth to the University and allowed us to relax and catch up on all that has been going on. The property and house is beautiful and Allan is very accommodating, answering any questions you may have. The house is fully functional and allowed us to make home cooked dinners for everyone to enjoy - much better than having to stay in a hotel and worry about where everyone wants to go for dinner!

Thank you!
