Oxford Estate Rental Photos and Description

Bonfield Manor is located at the entrance of Oxford, a half mile walk or bike ride to restaurants, shops and the Riverview Ave beach. The waterfront property offers a 12 acre park like setting, fabulous views and access to Boone Creek and the Choptank at its confluence into the Chesapeake Bay. Bonfield Manor and its plantation buildings were established in 1771-73. The original Georgian manor burnt down in 1927 and was replaced by an elegant lodge built on the original mount (and colonial basement kitchen). With two master bedroom suites on the ground floor, Bonfield Manor is prized to welcome either 1-4 people or large families/groups up to 12 people. The 12 acre property with its shaded outdoor patio, swimming pool, large dock and extensive grounds provides both privacy, time to relax and an extensive playground for young and old. Fishing, crabbing, canoeing and swimming are at your finger tips as are games, TV, WI-Fi, piano and books for in-door entertainment. Oxford is at your footsteps, St Michaels a ferry trip away and Easton a 15 minutes drive.

Great house in great location

  • of 5
The house and grounds were lovely, and the town of Oxford was very charming as well. The caretaker was available to help with all questions, and the house was well-stocked. I highly recommend this rental.

Perfect Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5
Outstanding. That sums it up. My family rented the home for four days for a birthday celebration and the house was perfect. We had five kids under 6 and they had a blast in the pool, yard and swimming on the dock. The house itself was spotless and well-cared for. It also had every amenity you could ask for (bikes, canoes, kayaks, croquet, etc.). Location is also wonderful, close to Easton for anything you need, and in Oxford, for a quiet, almost sleepy town setting. Just a wonderful home and location for a family holiday. Highly recommended for all.

Perfect family vacation. Hated to leave

  • 5 of 5
We had an excellent family vacation, non-stop windsurfing, stand-up paddle board jousting, fishing, swimming, crabbing, and several long dinners around the huge dining room table. The furniture throughout the house is museum caliber antique, way above what you might expect in a rental property. Oxford is such a relaxed and laid back town. The ice cream at the Scottish Creamery (behind Schooners) is well worth the calories. We had a great casual dinner for 10 on the waterfront at Schooners. My wife and I had an excellent dinner for 2 at Latitude 38. The owners of Bonfield Manor bent over backwards to make sure everything was clean, and well maintained. It was particularly helpful to have the care-taker living in the apartment on the grounds. We only needed him twice (to turn on an outdoor light and to turn on the ice maker), but it was comforting to know he was there to help. Everything was as nice or better than described on the website. We would happily go back for another week.

Charming Bonfield Manor

  • 5 of 5
We were recent guests at Bonfield Manor and thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful property. My husband and I were looking forward to engaging in some pre-Christmas activities on the Eastern Shore, in particular Oxford’s Christmas on the Creek weekend and wanted a central location for our stay.

The house delivers all the charm one would expect viewing the photos and more. Given the season we were greeted with fall foliage across the property’s many tress and regular waterfowl flights. When not exploring the area, we spent our time on the enclosed back porch overlooking the bay being warmed by the late afternoon sun or sitting in front of the roaring fireplace stocked with firewood. The house is large enough to accommodate our children and grandchildren with no issue and has modern amenities that ensure a comfortable stay no matter the length.

Our week visit was a much needed escape and given the house’s size and location, a great value. We are already looking forward to coming back soon!

Beautiful, peaceful retreat - an absolute gem

  • 5 of 5
My family and I just returned from a weekend at Bonfield Manor and we are already dreaming about our next visit. If you are looking for a place of peace, tranquility, nature and total privacy, look no further. The house itself is spacious and carefully appointed with beautiful furniture and a modern kitchen. The grounds are breathtaking - beautiful big lawns extending down to the water, a small pier and a pool. The toughest decision is to decide which of the clusters of Adirondack chairs have the best views! Oxford is a 5-10 minute bicycle ride away but we didn't want to leave the estate and BBQ'd in the garden instead of dining out as originally planned. This was our best vrbo stay so far and we highly recommend it to others.

Oxford founded in 1694 is located at the mouth of the Tred Avon River as one of Maryland's oldest town and important shipping center during Colonial Days. Today, it is a picturesque town that Yachting Magazine called 'one of the world's best waterfront towns'. Visitors enjoy the historic Robert Morris Inn, the Bellevue Ferry to St Michaels, attractive restaurants, several bustling marinas, and an active yacht club and museum. Whether walking or taking a bike ride, the well-kept houses and gardens along tree-lined streets offer a wonderful backdrop for a relaxing week-end or vacation. The historical towns of St Michaels and Easton are just 15 minutes away by car and offer further attractions and entertainment.
