Private but not isolated on nearly three acres -- just 1.5 miles to Alley's General Store and West Tisbury Library. About three miles to Lucy Vincent beach and the Chilmark Store. No smoking. We had a GREAT Family Vacation!

We've been to Martha's Vineyard a few times, but this was the first time we stayed in Chilmark... and what a WONDERFUL stay it was! We were so impressed by the history and beauty of Tavange and felt like we were in on a secret that only a few people shared. The house was spacious and warm all at the same time. My husband and I took our three kids plus our daughter's best friend and were later joined for a couple of days by my neice and nephew. There was MORE than enough space for all of us without ever feeling crowded.

I searched for a LONG time to find a home that not only could accomodate us humans but a home that was pet-friendly too. Some may know, but not many on the island rent their homes to dog-owners. Our sincere thanks to Ava, Naomi, and Tamara because it was truly special for us to be able to take our dog, Lola. The kids loved exploring the grounds with her and she felt perfectly at home.

One of the best perks in renting Tavange was access to Lucy Vincent's Beach! It is truly a gem - one of the lovliest beaches I've ever been to! We went every day and never felt like we were competing with anyone else for prime beach space since it's only accessible to the town residents. The other perk was access to ferry tickets. We all know how tough it is in prime season to get ferry tickets and we were grateful to make use of them with our rental.

My husband and I rented this property with our families during our recent wedding on the Vineyard. When we made the booking, we had no idea that it was a historic property on 3 acres..we just needed someplace big enough to accommodate our party and we wanted to stay up island.

We were pleasantly surprised that the house and grounds were so extraordinary. The house was built in the 1840s and one of the previous owners had planted the property with different tree species from around the world. Everyone was so happy with the deck and overall peaceful atmosphere. The property really is delightful and romantic. It was the perfect place to stay during our wedding!

Our wonderful stay at Tavanage

My family rented this wonderful house on Middle Road for the first time this summer. We've rented countless houses on the Vineyard, in a variety of locations, and always wanted to get as close to Menemsha as possible. This year we tried something new, and were thrilled that we did. This is a wonderful house that felt like home right away. Plenty of room for everyone to spread out, cook together comfortably, lounge together comfortably, grill and hang out on the deck, and a very unusually landscaped yard to explore. There is history to this house that you feel around every corner - and yet it's NOT falling apart, it's in great shape and was well cleaned and maintained when we arrived. The Middle Road location turns out to be a strategic plus - easy to get up to Chilmark/Menemsha/Aquinnah, as well as easy to scoot down to Vineyard Haven and beyond. A small cocktail hour with guests was easy as well, with the get together on the deck. A wonderful place we hope to return to!

Had a Great tim Here at The Tavanage house

Tavanage is a great place to stay, it's was unbelievably Tranquil, The house is set on this beautiful property surrounded by lots of trees. It has a beautiful meadow lined with bamboo. It's nice to see the different trees. I love it

The house has many bedrooms that can accommodate large amounts of people at one time, without anything becoming to hectic. I went with a large group of friends and we all slept comfortable, we each had our own bedrooms Each bedroom was really nice and spacious.Lots of space to put our clothing, so we didn't have to be living out of our suite cases during our vacation. I really felt at home when I opened the door. The kitchen was a huge plus to me, since I love to cook. It was fully stocked with cooking utensils, pots, pans, and baking dishes etc. It's large in size, and very easy to maneuver around when more than one person is in the kitchen. I loved how clean the house was, everything was neatly stacked, labeled, and put away. Tavanage also has a deck, which was a huge plus for me, I was able to sit outside anytime of day and enjoy the view of the woods and meadow. My friends and I would have dinner outside some nights and even have breakfast outside in the morning. It's a great place location wise, it's very easy to get to Lucy Vincent beach, which is not too far from Middle road. It's a great beach for boogie boarding and getting splashed with some waves.

My friends and I were able to watch some of our favorite shows and movies on the Roku .which means you can stream movies from Netflix, Hulu, HBO, and many others. It was a great bonus to be able to watch the Roku. I highly recommend the outdoor shower, it's private, and really cool to take a shower in nature. I loved it, so did my friends. This was an overall great stay. I loved every bit of it. I would defiantly come here again in the future and recommend this property to anyone who is trying to visit the Vineyard.
