ARTISTIC CRAFTSMAN STYLE HOME

Sausalito House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Den, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

One-of-a-kind historic craftsman home located one block from the heart of Sausalito in one of the best weather neighborhoods. We are a 1-5 minute walk to the best restaurants, cafes, shopping, movie theatre, yoga and pilates studios, Sausalito Art Festival, ferryboat to San Francisco and the historic downtown shopping district of Sausalito. You can enjoy views of San Francisco Bay while you enjoy meals on our front porch, take advantage of a private reading deck in the rear garden or just relax in the comfortable and beautifully furnished rooms inside...

On the top floor, the master bedroom has a comfy queen bed, walk-in closet and windows overlooking our back deck with private garden. The second bedroom has a beautiful antique double bed with windows that offer views of the Bay. The third bedroom has two children's twin beds and bean bag chairs that our grandchildren enjoy when they visit. There is a full bath with shower upstairs.

Downstairs, the kitchen is bright, elegant and large with a marble counter for casual meals, modern appliances, artistic touches and french doors that open to our rear deck with a gas barbeque and private garden oasis. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you'll need for family meals and entertaining. There is a whimsical full bath with clawfoot tub downstairs. There is a formal diningroom with arts & crafts furnishings and a very comfortable livingroom...both of these rooms have large windows that provide charming views of the bay and the surrounding neighborhood. The den is where we watch TV, read books or listen to music from our book and CD libraries. The den is furnished with a leather sofa that converts to a double bed and a wonderful window seat that looks out to a beautiful maple tree in the front yard. Our front porch is perfect for outdoor breakfasts or dinners with views of the Bay and the surrounding hills of Sausalito. The house can sleep 4 adults and 2 children comfortably.

This is a wonderful home for couples or families who want to relax in a great environment and be well located to enjoy the many amenities while visiting the Bay Area.

Beautiful home!

  • 5 of 5
This property was more than we could have ever asked for. The homeowner was so fabulous and made sure to make the property feel like home. The scenic views are a plus and within walking distance is a movie theater, deli, grocery store and fun local bars.

We hope to have a reason to visit the area again soon!

Great place for making memories!

  • 5 of 5
This is such a special home! It was absolutely perfect for our family. We enjoyed the comfort and cleanliness of the home. The kitchen was well equipped (in fact better than my kitchen at home), and the French doors that open to the back patio made cooking a joy. The location couldn't be beat, as it provided a quiet place to rest up for the next days adventure. We visited San Francisco, Muir Woods, several beaches, Golden Gate Park, Point Bonita Lighthouse, and the Marin Headlands- just to name a few. Susan, the owner, gave us a couple of wonderful suggestions. We visited Fort Baker and had an amazing meal at the Farley Bar. She also directed us to a fantastic beach for small children, where we rented kayaks and paddled up to harbor seals as they sunned on the docks! We will certainly choose to stay here again when in the bay area!

One Month Stay by New Hampshire Family

  • 5 of 5
We had an exceptional visit to 500 Truney Street. Normally we stay in San Francisco when business brings us to the city, but this was a longer stay and we desired quiet and more home-like environment. 500 Turney Street met these expectations completely. The house is a beautiful turn-of-the-century craftsman with tremendous character and history tied to Sausalito. It is well apportioned and tastefully decorated to reflect the owner's love of art and literature. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is fully stocked...we hosted a multi-course dinner for 10 business associates and found everything we needed to prepare a memorable meal and execute a successful event. The house is located in Sausalito's banana belt and we had sunny weather on 30 of 31 days--extraordinary! The fog did come in on most nights, but burned off by mid-morning. I now find that I miss the relaxing drone of distant fog horns that marked the fog's advance. The house is a 10 minute walk to the ferry to SF (we used it each day). A small market, movie theater, and numerous restaurants are within a 2 to 5 minute walk. The listing was completely acurate in all respects, and we were very pleased with the property when we arrived. The photos accurately reflect the appearance and amenities of 500 Turney and the house was clean and well-maintained, with clear directions for all functions (such as trash) and equipment (such as grill, TV and stereo). Additionally, one of us is an avid biker and the close proximity to the trails of the Marin Headlands was a highly attractive feature of this property (note that the house is 2 blocks from one of the best bike shops in the bay area--"A Bicycle Odyssey" on Bridgeway). Finally, we had our dogs with us, and we appreciated the dog-friendly environment. The owner was extremely helpful and friendly, and took time to show us around Sausalito and provide "insider" guidance on where to eat and what to do. This was greatly appreciated and added much to our stay. Our friendship with the owner is one of the great take-aways from this trip. We will definitely seek to stay at 500 Turney again on future trips to the Bay Area and heartily recommend this property to anyone seeking a beautiful rental away from the bustle of the city. 500 Turney is truly a home away from home.

Wonderful Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5
The home at 500 Turney is perfectly located in Sausalito. It is an easy five-minute walk to restaurants, the shopping district, and the ferry to San Francisco, yet it is far enough up the hill to be removed from the noise and bustle of Brideway. This home is more like a home than a rental. The house and belongings are filled with charm and history of the owners. Although I brought novels to read, I spent the week reading books in the home about the area and history of this part of California. We have stayed in many VRBO rentals across the country, and there is no house that compares to all the extras provided by this one, including fresh fruit, flowers, and scented bath soaps. The kitchen is fully stocked (including a drawer of spices) such that you would never have to eat out if you didn’t want to. The best part is the owner, Susan, lives in the apartment below the house and is extremely friendly and helpful should you have any questions. I can’t wait to return to Sausalito and stay again at 500 Turney!
