Amazing Experience

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I recently stayed here and we couldn't be happier with our choice. The apartment is clean, centrally located and unique. The owner was awesome; not only was he there to great us when we arrived early in the morning, but he also gave us a ton of recommendations for local restaurants and activities outside of Reykjavik. The apartment gets a ton of natural light and is the kitchen is fully stocked with all the appliances/utensils one could need to prepare meals (which we did daily). Also, beds are really comfortable. Can't recommend this spot highly enough.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5
I booked this apartment for 2 couples for a week in July. I was keen to find an apartment that had a tub, shower, washing machine, because my husband was running the Laugavegur Ultra Marathon. This apartment is in the PERFECT location - tucked away down a quiet side street, but steps away from the main streets (Laugavegur and Skólavörðustígur). A short 5 min walk to the Harpa, the habor and the Sun Voyager. 25 minutes walk to the Central Bus Station (BSI) and about 5-10 minutes Hlemmer, a smaller bus station.
The apartment was very clean and sweet, and had everything we needed - towels, sheets, cooking utensils, spices, foil, toilet rolls, hair dryer, black out blinds, guide books and maps, pots and pans, great oven, dishwasher.... There was endless supplies of hot water from a powerful shower. The hot water smells of sulphur (eggy) but that is normal for Iceland. The beds were extremely comfy and smelled fresh and clean. We all commented on how lovely the beds were. There is one downstairs toilet/sink, and an upstairs toilet/sink/bath/shower/laundry room that is accessed through the upper bedroom. The apartment is very pretty and decorated nicely. It feels very cool with bright colors, art on the walls and lots of books -- hipsters will love it. Non hipsters will love it too, because it is like home and feels very safe and secure.
There is a cafe downstairs (Grái Kötturinn) that serves coffee, eggs, pancakes etc. It smelled good and was always busy. We did not go there as we cooked brekkie everyday in the apartment to save on Kronur.
The apartment does seem pricey - Iceland is expensive in general - but when you arrive you will be so glad you spent the money. Do not hesitate to book it before someone else does!

Other things to note:
Burkni was very kind, helpful and interesting. Thank you so much, Burkni!!
There are 3 cute cats that live in the apartment downstairs - added bonus!
Friday and Saturdy nights will be quite noisy until around 6am as there are bars around. Don't let this deter you from this great apartment, but be prepared for some drunken singing in the streets.
Take a FlyBus to and from the airport.
Bring rain gear - It rains a lot.
Bring a camera - Iceland is breathtaking.

Three senior Canadian couples stayed in and loved this apartment

  • 5 of 5
The listing description, photos and previous reviews tell it as it is. Very clean, comfortable, excellent appliances, spacious rooms and interesting art decor.
As in other reviews, Burkni was on hand to meet us and explain features, even though our flight had been delayed 7 hours until 01:00 AM arrival. Location can't be beat! There was some noise from weekend revelers, but that is to be expected - it is Reykjavik!
Thanks Burkni, we loved your house and we hope to return!

Super Apartment and the heart of the city

  • 5 of 5
Burkni was very easy to deal with...answered emails promptly (not real common in Iceland!), was there to meet use even though we arrived very early on a Sunday morning. VERY, VERY clean. Great artwork, in walking distance to the main drag, Hapra, the harbor area, all the great places to eat. Very well furnished, nice kitchen with induction cooktop, oven, nice plates, pots, pans, flatware etc. D/W worked well. Super comfy beds with down covers. Provided towels, soap, d/w soap. Only grip we had was would be lack of a clothes dryer. We went swimming almost every day and came home with wet suits and towels...they really never fully dried by hanging them up. A 220 hair dryer was much apprectaied by my wife.

Great home in an excellent location

  • 5 of 5
Do not have too much to add that hasn't already been mentioned in previous reviews, but the place was perfect. The location really couldn't have been any better for us - close to the best restaurants, bars, and shopping Reykjavik has to offer. Burkni was there when we arrived and was very helpful in helping to acclimate us to the home and city. Would definitely recommend this home to anyone looking to visit Reykjavik!

Great Location

  • 5 of 5
The apartment is a short walk via a cut thru the back to the two main shopping streets: Laugavegur and Skolavordustigur. The Hallgrimskirkja church is a walkable distance as well. There are many restraurants that one can walk to within minutes. Out the front of the apartment and to the left is the harbor. There is also an office where one can take many excursions a short walk away, 5min. The apartment was bright and clean. The apartment seemed familiar as the photos posted were very accurate. It has a lot of space to spread out and relax. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen has a large table to gather around. The stairway to the third floor was opened but looked as though a child proof gate could be installed when neeeded. The kitchen had lots of cookware, plates and glasses. Across the street is the Culture House and you can see the harbor and Harpa from the apartment window. We would stay at this apartment again. We perfer not to rent a car on vacation and this was not a problem staying at this apartment. The owner, Burkni is very pleasant and welcoming. He was waiting at the apartment when we arrived to show us around the apartment and how to use some of the appliances. We had a wonderful time and look forward to returning.
