Montreux Apartment Rental Photos and Description
Apartment, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)
This is a family apartment in the newly-built (2009, we are the original owners) Le National de Montreux complex at the eastern end of Montreux. It's a 5-minute walk from the downtown shopping area, 10-15 minutes' walk from the conference and music festival centers, the ferry port (where scheduled Lake Steamers offer transport around Lac Léman) and the central train station. The apartment looks out over Lac Léman (Lake Geneva) and a fabulous view of les Dents du Midi and the Alps. The view literally takes your breath away with a changing panorama, which includes fishing boats, the Lac Léman ferry and sail boats that pass by the window. The sunsets from the terrace are magnificent.
Minimum rental period is six days.
Le National de Montreux are 77 luxury apartments built on the site of the famous Belle Epoque Hôtel National. (For more information on the history of the hotel, now renovated as large apartments as the centerpiece of the project surrounded by four new ultra-modern apartment buildings (including a Webcam) see the 'nationalmontreux' web site.)) Our apartment is on the third floor (street level) and ground floor (garden level). We have one of the largest terraces (patio) in the development, and one of the most fabulous views. Everything was built to the highest specification and the development maintains a 5-star rating as an Apartment-Hotel.
There is an open plan living room-dining room-kitchen, which means that the lake and mountain view can be enjoyed throughout.
There are 3 bedrooms, the master en-suite has a queen-size (UK king-size) bed, the second bedroom a double bed (1.37 m × 1.91 m, 54 x 75 in.) and the third bedroom two single ('trundle') beds. These could be placed together to form a US king-size bed.
Also seen from the terrace is the perfect concentric medieval Château de Chillon, written about by the poet Lord Byron in his poem 'The Prisoner of Chillon'. If you visit it you will see Byron's name carved into the dungeon wall. Compagnie Générale de Navigation sur le Lac Léman steamers pass the terrace on their way from Vevey and Montreux ports to the Chateau, Villeneuve, Bouveret and Saint-Gingolph; one of its classic steamers is shown in the photo.
Our apartment has every amenity the visitor could want:
The en suite bathroom has a jacuzzi as well as shower. There is a swimming pool, fitness center, sauna, steam bath and outside jacuzzi-hot tub one flight down in the same building.
The apartment has a dishwasher, washer, separate dryer and various small appliances. There are 3 TVs with Swiss cable TV and UK satellite TV, high-speed broadband.
There are a bakery, a cheese shop/delicatessen and a wine shop all within a 5-minute walk, and shopping mall with supermarkets less than 10 minutes' walk. The train station is 10 minutes' walk, or 3 minutes by car with discounted car parking for rail passengers.

About Andy & Grace
We live in London and Montreux, alternating between the two and we have rental apartments in both cities and also at Marina Port-Valais, Switzerland.
Andy & Grace purchased this apartment in 2009
Why Andy & Grace chose Montreux
Montreux has long been a premier resort town for Swiss and non-Swiss, with a fabulous climate and unmatched scenery. It is close to cultural and sporting facilities and has direct air, rail and road links to Europe and the world. Highly rated on TripAdvisor.
Montreux has always been a cosmopolitan town, and in the 19th and early 20th Century, German-speaking Swiss would come here to language schools and finishing schools to perfect their French. Today, in addition to private boarding schools there are several hotel schools with students from all over the world.
What makes this apartment unique
Montreux is a friendly town, and whether or not you speak French you will find it easy to communicate.
There is a local bus to Vevey for department stores and shops; an outlet mall in Rennaz is a few minutes away by car. Trains and postal buses connect Montreux to every part of Switzerland and Liechtenstein; even without a car you will find it easy to get around.
The indoor pool, gym & spa are great for relaxing after a day of touring or shopping. Or you may relax with a drink on one of the two sun loungers on the terrace watching the sun set behind the Alps and the sailboats and lake steamers go by.
Golf, boating, horse riding, skiing and other seasonal sports facilities are minutes away. The MySwitzerland and Montreux tourism web sites provide schedules of concerts, festivals and happenings in and near Montreux and throughout the country. There is even are iPhone apps for that. (You can get a pay-as-you-go iPhone micro-SIM from Swisscom; Internet access is 4 CHF per day on that scheme.)
