This is a family apartment in the newly-built (2009, we are the original owners) Le National de Montreux complex at the eastern end of Montreux. It's a 5-minute walk from the downtown shopping area, 10-15 minutes' walk from the conference and music festival centers, the ferry port (where scheduled Lake Steamers offer transport around Lac Léman) and the central train station. The apartment looks out over Lac Léman (Lake Geneva) and a fabulous view of les Dents du Midi and the Alps. The view literally takes your breath away with a changing panorama, which includes fishing boats, the Lac Léman ferry and sail boats that pass by the window. The sunsets from the terrace are magnificent.
Minimum rental period is six days.
Le National de Montreux are 77 luxury apartments built on the site of the famous Belle Epoque Hôtel National. (For more information on the history of the hotel, now renovated as large apartments as the centerpiece of the project surrounded by four new ultra-modern apartment buildings (including a Webcam) see the 'nationalmontreux' web site.)) Our apartment is on the third floor (street level) and ground floor (garden level). We have one of the largest terraces (patio) in the development, and one of the most fabulous views. Everything was built to the highest specification and the development maintains a 5-star rating as an Apartment-Hotel.
There is an open plan living room-dining room-kitchen, which means that the lake and mountain view can be enjoyed throughout.
There are 3 bedrooms, the master en-suite has a queen-size (UK king-size) bed, the second bedroom a double bed (1.37 m × 1.91 m, 54 x 75 in.) and the third bedroom two single ('trundle') beds. These could be placed together to form a US king-size bed.
Also seen from the terrace is the perfect concentric medieval Château de Chillon, written about by the poet Lord Byron in his poem 'The Prisoner of Chillon'. If you visit it you will see Byron's name carved into the dungeon wall. Compagnie Générale de Navigation sur le Lac Léman steamers pass the terrace on their way from Vevey and Montreux ports to the Chateau, Villeneuve, Bouveret and Saint-Gingolph; one of its classic steamers is shown in the photo.
Our apartment has every amenity the visitor could want:
The en suite bathroom has a jacuzzi as well as shower. There is a swimming pool, fitness center, sauna, steam bath and outside jacuzzi-hot tub one flight down in the same building.
