This cottage has everything you need for a comfortable, relaxing vacation. Watch the sunset from the dock of this cottage in the woods. You will enjoy breathtaking views of this 10,000 acre lake. Black Lake is great for swimming, boating, fishing and other water sports! The UAW golf course is within walking distance, down the beautiful 'Woods Road'! Rent a pontoon for the day at the Black River Marina, just a short drive away! Black Mountain is directly across the lake for ATV recreation (please, no ATV's at the cottage)!

About The Owner

Hi! We're the O'Neils. Chris is the owner of an automotive repair shop in Lansing, Michigan and Kay is a professional musician and estate sale worker. Other than the time we spend driving to the cottage and back we enjoy gardening, hiking, music, cards and dinner with friends! We have 2 kids in college, 1 dog and 5 cats.

Why The Owner chose Black Lake

Chris's great-grandfather built the cottage next to ours back in the early 1900's. Chris has been going to Black Lake his entire life! His grandmother and her 3 sisters all had cottages around the lake, and this is one of them! This is an easy place to fall in love with, and we love it deeply.

What makes this cottage unique

We especially enjoy the drive in from the main road. When you turn onto the Woods Road you wind through a beautiful, natural forest. The cottage is surrounded by beautiful trees, and the view of the lake through the trees is breathtaking. We enjoy swimming in Black Lake very much, because the water is clear and stays shallow for quite a distance. The cottage is quiet and relaxing if you just want to read a book or take a nap. Even though Black Lake is very large, it is pretty quiet for it's size! There is some boat and jet ski traffic, but not much.

If you want to relax this serene rental has it all. Quiet & clean along with a wonderful setting on a beautiful lake made for a wonderful week. 3 restaurants within 5 miles, boat rental available and deer to count while on the morning walks. Lake clean and although no real beach the water is easily accessible. Owners were very amiable and ready to answer all questions. Cocktails on the deck and evening fires
with a starry sky all enhanced the solitude.
