My family has been travelling to Chatham for almost 30 years and with a growing family, we decided to rent this home back in 2010 and every summer since then.
Chatham is by far the best town on Cape Cod offering something for just about every member of your family or travelling party. On the elbow of Cape Cod, Chatham is the quintessential small summer village with a mile long “Main Street” offering everything from small clothing boutiques and t-shirt shops to penny candy stores and lots of locally made goods to bring home after your vacation. Surrounded by beaches on 3 sides of town, it’s hard to go wrong whether you’re looking to brave the cold Atlantic at Lighthouse Beach, bring your kids to the calm salt water inlet of Oyster Pond or find a nice cove boasting warmer waters off of Pleasant Bay in North Chatham. Once you’ve soaked up enough sun for the day, Chatham offers a wide variety of options for dinner and drinks, but for the baseball lovers in your life, there is nothing better than taking in a Chatham Anglers game where you can scout some of the finest college talent and Major League Baseball prospects in the country. And if you think you’ve exhausted everything Chatham has to offer (which is almost impossible) the towns central location on Cape Cod makes it relatively easy to take a day trip up to Provincetown or Wellfleet for an evening at the Drive-In movie theater.
As for the house on Barn Hill, you cannot go wrong. The perfect house for a larger parties, whether it be several couples or multiple families, there is plenty of space for everyone. With each bedroom and bathroom positioned on its own floor or wing of the house, each person can enjoy their own personal space without feeling crowded a major plus for large groups looking to actually find time to rest and relax on vacation. The kitchen, dining room, and living room have been recently updated and can accommodate a large group for a fresh fish dinner or even just one person who stayed home for the day to enjoy a good book next to the picture window overlooking the ocean. And finally, but possibly the most important feature of the house at the end of Barn Hill is that it offers an amazing lawn and one of the most spectacular views in Chatham—the perfect setting for your morning coffee, afternoon game of bocce, or glass of wine after a long day enjoying Chatham.
To summarize, don’t wait. This is the true Cape Cod experience.
