we fell in love with the relaxing atmosphere that the Berkshires provide, and the endless activities
we really enjoy floating around the lake on a hot summer day.
We rented this house for Labor Day/My Birthday weekend. From the moment we arrived, we felt so relaxed and happy. We didnt have great cell service (Sprint), but it really wasn't a problem. We spent the evenings playing board games or sitting out by the fire. Great place to get away and unplug!
Thank you so much for renting out this house in Becket. It was a perfect spot for us to appreciate the house and the lake as well as our family reunion in Pittsfield. We enjoyed a dinner at the house with a lot of paddleboating and blow-up-boating (that we brought) and fishing (and releasing). The kids had a blast.
One little hint to those deciding on a house -- the house in the pictures looks dark, but it really isn't! Two HUGE sliders, the wood paneling isn't dark like I worried about when I first saw it...it's cabin-y looking and charming. The movie selection at the house is amazing. We watched videos at night! And played cards!
And a tid-bit. Especially if you have kids, bring beach towels with you. The towels in the house are REALLY nice towels, and I didn't want them outside with tweens getting them muddy. It was no issue, we needed them for the reunion.
We had a small emergency (sick little boy) and needed to get with Theresa and Frank -- they were so helpful and we appreciated their help SOOOO much. So you're not only getting a great house, but a kind set of people to rent it from!
We had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend getaway at Frank and Theresa's cottage! We were two couples and we stayed for two nights. We thought the cottage and property were much, much nicer than what you could see in the photos. The house has two bedrooms with comfortable queen beds so both couples had privacy and there was also a lofted area with a pullout couch, but we didn't need to use that, and a great kitchen and living room area. There was also a loft with a pull-out couch which we did not need to use. The house was warm and toasty and the entire thing was wood paneled - and everything seemed clean and new. We found it to be very clean - fresh-smelling bedding and a very clean kitchen and bathroom, but it is a rustic cottage, so I wouldn't expect every inch to be spotless - we were not disturbed by some dry leaves and stuff like that when you opened a door/window. We cooked every meal and the house had all of the basics we needed - there is a stone grill/fire pit outside, and we used it three times which was so much fun. The property is small, but so peaceful - we ate outside on the patio furniture, hung out on the dock and took the paddle boat out and even went swimming in the small lake. We saw other people on the lake fishing, boating, etc. and everyone was friendly. We didn't do anything else in the area really because it was a short stay and we were completely comfortable at the cottage. Lots of games and DVDs as well, but we didn't even need them.
I highly recommend this place - it is a great getaway and I couldn't imagine a better price. The owners were very responsive over email as well - we used paypal and had the deposit returned by check - all very easy.
