Moonlight Reflections is a private log cabin hideaway on a remote mountain lake between Franklin and Andrews, in Western North Carolina. A romantic cabin in the woods beside a crystal clear mountain lake, where you can fish, swim, go for a leisurely boat ride, or just while away time in a relaxing hot tub.
This is a true Appalachian-style, hand-crafted log cabin, with an all-wood interior, tongue and groove plank pine floors, and a covered front porch complete with rocking chairs and a porch swing. The builder’s ingenuity is evident in many places, especially in the alternating-tread stairs to the second-floor bedrooms and half-bath.
I had asked for a place to relax and just enjoy the tranquility, well it was everything we were looking for.
The cabin was very comfortable and had all we needed. Once we brought groceries from town we had no reason to leave and it was great! The boat the owner let us use was very nice and the lake is wonderful,
many smallmouth bass and yellow perch later my husband left a happy man. Can not wait to go back again with the kids and grandkids.
My husband and I stayed at this cabin last October for the week of Halloween and it was truly awesome. Unfortunately we had a bad storm and was without electricity for awhile, but that was ok, we made the best of the situation. Love the cabin, but the stairs can be a little tricky to go up and down on. Make sure you are good and awake before heading down in the morning and sober before heading up late at night. Haha! There are no cell phone towers or internet connection in this cabin, but truly it was nice NOT having access to the rest of the world for a week. The owner was very nice and allowed us to bring a dog (baby) with us and she enjoyed relaxing on the dock as much as we did. We loved packing a lunch and a bottle of wine and heading out on the lake for a peaceful relaxing day. Next time and there will be a next time we will definetly be renting their boat. We brought our own but it is not real easy traveling through the mountains pulling a boat. We found his rental price to also be fair compared to other rentals in the same area. The cabin was nice and cozy. We had to succomb to the lady bugs, but this comes with being in the mountains and we are use to them. Thanks for allowing us to enjoy your lovely "Moolight Reflections".
My wife and I booked this cabin last minute for a 3 night stay. Had never been to the area before and we fell in love. The cabin, dock, porch, hot tub and fire pit were literally awesome in every way. The owners of the cabin, who live next door, were kind enough to take us for a guided tour of the lake and also bring us some homemade ice cream. If you are looking for a quite getaway to relax and unwind this is your spot. Just make sure you pack enough supplies for your visit, its a good 20 minutes one way to the nearest store. Will definitely be back again.
We went to Moonlight Reflections for 2 nights in May. We had a great time. The cabin was well-maintained and we had fun in the hot tub, on the boat, and just sitting on the porch.
The problem was that when we got home from our relaxing vacation, I noticed that we had a $189 charge on our credit card, separate from and in addition to the charges that I paid for the two night cabin rental. When I asked the owner about the charge, he said it was a "pontoon boat rental fee." Not once on his website, in our emails, or during a phone conversation I had with the owner about where to find the keys to the boat, did he mention that there was a fee for the boat, let alone a fee that was more expensive than a nights stay at the cabin. The website says that you can use the pontoon boat after signing a liability release, and says nothing about a fee. He didn't even have us sign the release, or anythign, regarding the boat.
He has refused to give me a refund and has threatened to take me to court after I contacted my bank and told them I never authorized the charge. I had to change my credit card number out of fear that he will rack up even more arbitrary charges that I did not agree to.
Though the lake is beautiful, there are much better people you could rent a cabin from than this guy, who cannot even write an email with proper grammar, let alone conduct proper business.
