As a North Easterner and after spending Eight years living in Thailand, my Thai wife and I moved to Lake Placid.
I've travelled the World as an Airline Pilot and Lake Placid has it all! Great year round activities for the Family that are so close.
Eric and Sunida Harper purchased this apartment in 2006
We live here year round and the location is great for its easy access to Main Street, the Olympic center, skiing, fishing, hiking and restaurants.
We are so close to everything that we like to do yet this property is secluded enough for enjoying the quiet Adirondack outdoors.
The apartment is described accurately. It is the first floor of the house (the second floor was not used when we were there). There's parking for 2 cars easily (necessary in the winter in LP)! Driveway was plowed; a shovel and salt were left outside.
The master bedroom is quite tight but the other bedroom is roomy. The TV and refrigerator (french door) have been upgraded (Nice!). We had to put away the items from the dishwasher.
There's no soap (bar) in the bathroom. There seems to be leftover shampoo bottles from previous renter. Towels, though mismatched, were plenty.
Although the address is on the main road, the house is actually set back from the main road. Try to get there while still daylight; it would really be difficult finding it in the dark.
We would stay here again.
We were on a fall foliage trip, looking for a convenient location in Lake Placid. There was another couple with us, and we both enjoyed our Mill Pond location. The apartment wasn't fancy, but it was very comfortable, quiet and convenient to everything we wanted to see and do. We would stay there again.
Mill-pond location was perfect. Able to walk into town, to dinner, and get to the trail head without going thru main st. Simple yet sufficient living quarters for my husband and I along with our dog, Loki. The king bed was very comfortable! just prepared some simple meals and had adequate utensils, however, if you are planning on cooking several things at once, I'm not sure there would be enough cookware. I would call to find out if they have what you need first. The apartment was clean and there were plenty of towels to use. It needs a fresh coat of paint thou and perhaps a full size couch or another chair ( the red one was very comfortable) to sit on. The dining table is ample size to accomdate 6+ people. This was the exact place we needed to enjoy LP! It was terrific that they allowed us to bring our dog, who was thrilled to be along for the trip. The setting is quiet and the view of the pond is very relaxing. We were unable to use the fire pit as the weather was uncooperative. As mentioned before, bottled water, tea and coffee were there which was nice to have available. We didn't have to contact the owners but they were available if we needed anything. I would highly recommend this vrbo to couples, and small families.
Excellent house, centrally located and very spacious. Bonus point for free water, coffee and tea. This was the second year staying at this rental and it is fantastic !
My wife and I, and our 2 kids ages 11 and 13 were the guests. The owner was friendly and great to deal with from the first contact, right through our departure. The apartment was a ground level dwelling, with private entrance, and parking right outside the door. The interior was clean, spacious, and provided everything we needed, including WIFI and cable. The kids shared a bedroom, and they each had a double bed of their own. My wife and I had a queen bed in our room. Both rooms had plenty of drawers for our stuff and nice big closets. The kitchen was modern, good sized, and well equipped. The dining room had a nice big table that could easily seat 6-8 people. The living room was comfy, had a flat screen TV, fold out couch, and sliding doors leading out to our own little patio, complete with table, chairs, and a grill, all of which looked out over the water. The location was close to everything, but just a tad too far of a walk to town, only because of the cold temperatures during our visit (-12 the morning we left for home). The only disappointment we had was that the noise from above was a little loud sometimes, but when I spoke to the owner about it he and his family did their very best to be as quiet as possible, and they were. My entire family agreed that this was a great place to stay, and we would go back here in a heartbeat.
