Overview

Harlem Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Two bedrooms, one bath in vintage brownstone

Lovely private second floor apartment in a classic Harlem brownstone apartment building with a kitchen, a small dining area that seats four comfortably and six tightly, a full living room area with a double sofa bed and two bedrooms (one full bed, one queen) plus a bath with a classic bathtub and a shower. The apartment sleeps 6 guests, or 7 in a pinch! One of the bedrooms is large (at least...it is large to us, but we are New Yorkers) and has a dresser and the other is quite small, with just a full sized bed that sleeps two and a closet.

We have furnished our apartment with care (it used to be our home...) Pretty original display fireplaces (one in living room, one in master bedroom), 11 foot ceilings, classic details like original hardwood shutters and pocket doors. Lots of nice light, on a quiet side street.

Please note that this is an old historic building. Our wood floors creek, our windows have old wooden shutters, there is a vintage slipper bathtub from 1890...this is a great apartment for people who like vintage NYC buildings -- it is not a contemporary space.

We own the whole building. Our building has three separate apartments. We rent this private apartment out to vacationers. We live right here and we are available to help you with questions, trip-planning, tours and everything else.

We are great hosts who will happily share our Harlem resources and tell you all about our beloved neighborhood. We have lived in Harlem for over nine years with our young children and we love Harlem, it is a beautiful, historic neighborhood with many bars and cafes and restaurants. Our building is just around the corner from favorite Harlem attractions like the Red Rooster, the Lenox Lounge, the Apollo and the Studio Museum. We are very close to lovely spots for traditional NYC brunch, great gospel churches and art galleries. Steps from Mount Morris Park, 13 blocks from Central Park (it's a nice walk or bike ride). Two blocks from the 2/3 subway line, a five minute walk to the D train that will take you to Columbus Circle in midtown Manhattan in 6 minutes (we've timed it!)

Free, FAST wifi!

We are happy to host families -- we have tons of baby supplies (crib, etc) to lend you if you need them! No need to drag all the baby supplies on the plane -- we have done that many times and know how difficult it is.

We rent bikes and strollers -- just let us know in advance and we can arrange that for you.

it could be better

  • 3 of 5
We are 6 italian girls and we stayed in this apartment 8 nights.
The place was nice, immediatly we've seen a hole in the ceiling and in the following days we smelled a terrible stench.
all the other things were ok, the kitchen was well-stocked, also the bathroom.
there wasn't the sixth chair to eat together and cleaning could be better.
at last, the neighborhood was quiet and people really nice.
we had a great time in NY.

Owner's Response: Hello and thanks for your review. Regarding the ceiling issue, the reason that we gave you such a discounted rate during your stay was because our upstairs tenant had a leak that affected the ceiling in the apartment. The ceiling is completely repaired now. There are actually six chairs, one is a folding chair that is next to the fridge -- apologies that we didn't point that out to you. Glad you otherwise enjoyed your stay!
