The Longbeach Cottage was built in 1920 and lovingly restored to preserve its historic qualities, while providing the modern conveniences the savvy traveler demands.
We made sure you stay connected and entertained by providing high speed, wireless internet access and custom cable (view on large flat screen) TV channels. The Cottage has a fenced in backyard and a quiet, comfortable and private deck where you can read, enjoy a cup of coffee, grill out and browse the internet with your lap top or tablet.
What you'll find most compelling is the location and the wealth of amenities you can access without ever getting in your car.. Walk or bike around the perimeter of the Village to bay views, two restaurants with bay front dinning, public docks, a boat ramp, bay front beach, the Longboat Key Art Center and a oak canopied road. Walk to the gulf and some of Florida's best beaches. The vistas, sunrises and sunsets will enchant you.
The beach and the bay are pristine and if you have a kayak or paddle board you're just minutes from the Sister Keys a restored and protected group of islands in Sarasota Bay.
The location is prime for serious fishermen and provides a great diversity of opportunities. The owner (a fisherman on local waters for over 30 years) can provide you with local knowledge and information on top local guides. A public boat ramp is three blocks away.

Rusty Chinnis purchased this cottage in 2002
I love the Village and consider it one of the world's most special places. That's why I've lived here for thirty years!
Great fishing, Peace and Quiet, Beaches, bays, sunsets, sunrises, boating, eating and drinking and so much more.
Rusty & Christine,
Words cannot describe the fabulous time that we had on Longboat Key and the wonderful "Longbeach Cottage".
Thank you so very much for everything. The house was everything we dreamed of for our much needed "11" Day minication. We will be back!
This cottage was clean, comfortable and inviting. The bathroom was clean and maintained, the bed was clean, queen sized and comfortable. The air conditioning was welcomed for us Alberta foothills dwellers. Everything promised in the description was provided, and more. We spent many hours enjoying meals cooked in the small well appointed kitchen, and eaten on the clean, landscaped, private back patio with our friends, who stay close by.We photographed each sunrise and many sunsets during our stay at the dock, which is a pleasant 3 minute walk. The birds were plentiful, varieties were unique to the area, and listening to their calls was peaceful and part of our vacation experience. The walk to Whitney beach was part of each morning, and is a quick 5 mins across the Gulf of Mexico Dr. We enjoyed an hour or 2 daily walking the beach. In spite of our rest and relaxation at the cottage, we enjoying daily trips around the area. Cortez fish market, Phillipina restaurant with the Mantees outside, a Tampa Rays game, Siesta Key art market, St. Armand Circle, Columbia Restaurant, Anna Maria Island, a Buegrass festival, dog races, flea markets, Ellerton, outlets, fishing, and I'm sure I forgot a few places, like the Ringling Museum and Dali museum!!! Yes we enjoyed ourselves immensely and came home each night to the perfect place to get ready to face the next day. Thank you so much Christine and Rusty, and we hope to return. Until we meet again.....
The Cottage was charming, set in a lovely landscaped yard tucked into a quiet neighborhood, handsomely appointed and fully equipped. The owners, Rusty and Christine, were very accommodating and helpful in directing me around the area. The beach is nice and quiet, and I enjoyed the short walk to the two restaurants at the dock. Other restaurants, Harry's, and especially Euphemia Haye, were fine dining. The close by Arts Center is a nice visit. I only wish I could have stayed longer. I have already recommended this property to friends and my family, and I am looking forward to staying at the Cottage again in the spring.
My husband and I stayed here for almost a week for a family wedding on nearby Anna Maria Island. Just as most other reviewers have said, the owners are especially friendly and helpful, the home is clean and exactly as shown in pictures, and the location is perfect if you want to stay on the more relaxed side of Longboat yet be near restaurants and beaches. We loved our mornings outside on the patio surrounded by tropical Florida plants. as well as our neighborhood walk to see the peacocks. It's an easy walk to Moore's Stone Crab Restaurant which we enjoyed. Even when traffic is everywhere, it won't take you five minutes to drive to either the Longboat beaches or Coquina on Anna Maria. It was just a great place for a getaway.
Rusty and Christine offered a charming cottage with all modern amenities. The house was immaculate.
We had no problems. The few times we ran into them they were very friendly and gracious. You can see that they put a lot of TLC into their property. We were so pleased with our stay that we presented them with the check for next years visit. We were here a month and now wish it would have been two.
This cottage is the epitome of the Village and old time Florida. Thank-you for providing a great home away from home. P.S. Our two dogs also loved it.
We were really looking forward to staying in this "charming" house in LBK village. The reviews made the house and its owners seem like wonderful folks. Upon arrival, the house appeared to be clean. The bottle of wine in the fridge was a nice touch.
On day one, loads and loads of ants came marching out all around the kitchen sink and front window. The plastic ant bait in place was worthless. The cleaning products in the house were all organic, so out of respect, I bought some "natural" ant spray. I sprayed every day. It was disgusting to have a layer of dead ants and other crawlers all around the sink and counter. We had to keep all of our food in the fridge. There were ants in other parts of the house, too. As a former Floridian, I know how buggy it can get. But in the hospitality business, by-owner or commercial, ants are no-no. Pest control service is a necessity.
My husband and I both stepped on rusty roofer nails right by the front porch as we cleaned beach sand off our bare feet. Fortunately, neither of us were hurt, and our son didn't step on any. I did a walkaround where I found more rusty nails on the patio and the walkway leading to it.
The master bedroom is a decent size; however, there is a broken recliner shoved into the corner -- tacky, to say the least. The second bedroom is very small, but it was good enough for our son. An adult might feel cramped.
We couldn't address any of this with the owner. We paid for week 1 several months in advance. We made the simple mistake of forgetting our check book to pay for week 2 upon arrival. We realized immediately, apologized profusely and made arrangements to pay within days. She treated us like criminals. In every conversation, she was sooooo nasty and rude. I suppose some previous guest may have bilked her, but that is no reason for her to treat us as rudely as she did.
IMO, this woman seems to think that she is doing people a favor by renting out her "charming" cottage. She needs to realize that she is in the hospitality business and should provide stellar customer service to every guest. After chatting with her husband, we found him to be a very nice fellow. I would have liked to spend more time talking to him.
My wife and I celebrated our 25th anniversary at "The Cottage" on beautiful Longboat Key. It was GREAT...It is your home away from home with all the comforts. Located near the white sand beach with a great restaurant only two blocks away that has the best oysters on the half shell a person has ever tried...along with THE best mussels.St.Armands Circle is only a short distance ( about 15 minute drive with traffic) that has many many unique shops and great places to eat lunch or dinner. We are planning to return soon since we are only 2 1/2 hours away..Thanks Rusty and Christine for letting us share your Cottage..
The owner will provide a personal orientation for fishermen, paddlers, bikers, photographers and birding enthusiasts.
