When you first walk into the 'inner sanctum' of the Village Gardens condos, you can't help but to feel like you've come across something special.
The landscaping of the inner gardens and 'meadow' is meticulous and inviting. One of Carp's best kept secrets, the garden of Village Gardens welcomes you as you arrive.
Jasmine blooms scent the path from the car-park to the front door.
The bamboo floors and light walls enhance the bright sunlight that comes in through the windows overlooking the gardens. Tons of room for up to a group of four to sit and hang out in the living room and at the dining room table. Guests can easily be accommodated, too.
Smart TV and high-speed internet, along with a 46' flat screen television are all part of the package, of course. Moving out the screened and sliding doors to the patio, your stomach may begin to growl as you anticipate the taste of the fresh vegetables growing there. Two varieties of lettuce, Japanese cucumbers, tomatoes, and herbs. The chaise lounge back here is so comfortable you may never leave this spot your whole stay in town.
Back inside and upstairs, there are two bedrooms, two full baths, and laundry. The master bedroom has a comfy queen-sized bed and fresh, cotton linens. With the window open, the cool evening breezes are welcome after a warm summer day at the beach. And down the hall, the second bedroom can be set up for two twin beds or one huge, comfortable King bed. Let us know which you'd prefer.
The beach...it's just a 10 minute walk through the center of town. Pick up a coffee at the Coffee Bean and then continue your stroll down LINDEN AVE to the 'world's safest beach.' That's seriously what they call it.
It is a stunning beach. Our shoreline is perfect for surfing, kayaking, and stand-up paddling along the Carpinteria coast. During the summer, rentals for all of this are available on the beach. The rest of the year, local surf shops can hook you up with everything you need. Is there a fisherman in your group? The kelp forest reefs off the coast are wild waters with bottlenose dolphins, sea lions, harbor seals, and plenty of fish. All accessible by kayak. SCUBA diver? Bring your gear, rent a tank and paddle a kayak right to the kelp forest where Leopard Sharks and White Sea Bass congregate. I kid you not.
Restaurants in Carpinteria...there is some great food in Carp!
Immediate suggestions that come to mind... Corktree Cellar; Sly's; Crushcakes; Siam Elephant Thai; The Spot; & Zookers.
I'll be sure to give you more 'local favorites' to check out in the Information sheet I leave for guests.
Carpinteria is 15 minutes from Santa Barbara--definitely worth a visit. Spend the day at the wineries of Los Olivos; go to the Sea Center at Stearn's Wharf; sail out to the Channel Islands to see blue whales, bottlenose dolphins, and sea lions.
This is a great location in a fun city.
