Awesome European Honka Log Home on Lake Nantahala!
This property is unique compared to others on the lake! Approximately 3000 sq. ft. of living area plus 3 large decks facing the lake. Fishing and swimming from your own 20' x 26' private dock will surely be one of the most memorable highlights for the kids. You might choose to rent a pontoon boat from the neighboring Marina. If you have your own boat, launch at the nearby boat ramp and tie up at your private dock.
Come inside and 'decompress' amid the antiques and leather furniture, a casual blend of eclectic and rustic. There's no danger of feeling as if you've walked into a stale, cookie-cutter resort rental condo, as photos of family and past visitors adorn the walls and impart a welcome feeling of visiting with old friends and being a part of the family.
Views of the lake and distant mountains are wonderful from the three outside decks, where you can enjoy your meals outdoors or take a leisurely soak in the hot-tub. Drive or go by boat to the quaint mountain lakefront cafe'(828-321-3000) where you can enjoy an early breakfast and meet some of the locals, or dine informally in the evening. Enjoy the walk in steam sauna.
The Log Home is easily accessible. No need for four-wheel-drive. Quiet, comfortable lake living at it's best. Come and enjoy this Lake Front Log Home!!!! Owner managed to be sure your stay is top notch as I want our guests to return....Book today!
I am Jerry McMahan and married to Lisa. We have a son who presently attends college. Our family lives on a small farm near Alpharetta, Ga.
I am originally from nearby Robbinsville, NC and always wanted to have a second home in the area. Of all the mountain lakes in western NC and North GA my favorite is Lake Nantahala due to the pristine water, elevation (over 3,000 ft.) and mountain setting. When this unique property became available I purchased it even though we already owned another cabin in the area.
The Nantahala Highlands Estates is a gated community that has very little traffic and a 1.8 mile level road above the lake that is great for walking, running, or biking.
We enjoy sitting on one of the three large decks by the lake taking in the scenery, reading, and relaxing. Most of our guests like the large outdoor spa(hot tub) in any season. An outdoor fireplace is enjoyable, especially on cool days or summer evenings. Lake activities such as swimming off the dock and tubing in the summer months. Fishing the clear waters in this lake can be rewarding. Species include bass (large mouth & small mouth), trout, bream, and salmon.
We enjoy boating on our pontoon boat, traveling by water to the lake cafe in the summer months.
The fall is a beautiful time to enjoy the colorful scenery along this high elevation mountain lake.
I enjoy the snow winter brings especially looking out from the decks as it comes down over and into the lake.
Spring brings rebirth in the mountains and warmer days to enjoy outside activities.
In addition to the Lakes End Cafe, many dining choices can be had about 45 minutes away in Franklin, NC.
Fishing & lounging from our large dock (20'x26'); whitewater rafting on the Nantahala River; Joyce Kilmer Forest & Cherohala Parkway (approx. 1 hour away); trout fishing; Wayah Bald (over 5,000' elevation), Great Smoky Mountains National Park & Cherokee & Blue Ridge Parkway (approx. 1 hour). Town of Franklin is 45 min. away.
