We are private owners of 4 Summit units at the Grand Sierra Resort.
We offer a unique combination of 'mega-resort' resources, offered through a 'Mom and Pop' channel. Our guests have access to all the same amenities and service as any other guest of the resort, and we always offer the lowest rates available for a GSR Summit room. Our customer service is second to none, as our many repeat guests and customer reviews will attest.
We had a wonderful experience in this unit at the Grand Sierra Resort. The unit is clean and comfortable, the butler's pantry is nice to have, the refrigerator is a good size and was very quiet at night. The unit is on the 19th floor and the views are excellent, especially at dawn and dusk. A nice surprise was the elevators -- with express elevators to the 17th floor and higher, it was almost like having our own elevator, usually with very little wait. The resort itself has everything you could want under one roof. And dealing with Ken and Tracy was a real pleasure, everything went very smoothly. All in all, a great experience.
Our stay was great. We were in town to spend Thanksgiving with family, and by surprise my in-law parents said they wanted to take our two kids Friday (day and night) to let my wife and I have a rare 24hrs of freedom. Luckily, Ken and Tammy had a vacancy. They were very fast to respond to our inquiry and immediately accommodated us.
GSR is great - entertainment for everyone of all preferences and ages - spa, pool, movies, theater, restaurants, ski packages, arcade, tons of adult gaming of course, and great service folks. Make sure to make a spa reservation ahead if time - demand is high (my wife lucked out because of a last second cancellation).
Check-in was fast for the Holiday weekend (5mins). Valet was fast too (and free). Since we are originally from Reno we met friends for brunch and dinner. We even ran into other family members (cousins) who we weren't originally planning to see. We had a very fun time. We hardly gambled - I shot some craps for 30mins and cashed in after a great shooter - but I noticed a lot of computer/virtual table games too (no physical dealers) - wow has the gaming technology changed! Guests could choose either.
The room is great too - just like the pics. We didn't use the appliances, but they are perfect if you stay more than a night (stock up on snacks and drinks). The room is only a 30sec walk from the elevators (which you can't hear) and the elevator wait is very short compared to most resorts - less than 1 minute every time except once. It was great to be at our room so quickly when the night was over and time for bed after a long day of fun and no work.
Thanks again, Ken and Tammy.
This was the first time we used VRBO and I would recommend it to anyone. My parents also went thru VRBO and had a great experience as well. The owners were awesome to work with throughout our entire booking and stay. The Hotel was very nice, friendly staff, and great restaurants. We would definitely rebook in the future.
We've stayed at the Grand Sierra before but this year rented from Ken and Tammy. It was basically the same as booking through the hotel but a better deal with much friendlier service. We checked in at the Summit desk and everything was just the way Ken and Tammy said it would be.
The room was just as described, the bed was comfortable, there was a desk and sofa, lots of plugs for computers and such, a nice bathroom, and the fridge and microwave were handy to have.
The GSR is a nice property, with lots to do and lots of places to eat. Trying all the wines in the wine bar was fun, as was aqua golf.
We stay in Reno a couple of times a year and will always try to rent this unit from now on. Thank you!!
First of all Ken and Tammy were very helpful. Everything went so smoothly. All I had to do was contact them, make my reservation and when I arrived at the GSR, I checked in and went to my room. Simple. I love the unit, the hotel and working with K & T. I am planning on using them again next time I head out to Reno. I HIGHLY recommend this!
Wow! What can I say?
1st - The process of securing the room w/Ken & Tammy, from my first email inquiry their responses were quick & informative. We ran into a situation & had to change our travel dates. Boom! Tammy, Ken & an associate named Tracy worked w/us to move our dates & again resecure our room. We were just shy of 14 days before our travel dates. We later found out Grand Sierra Resort was sold out for our travel dates! We count ourselves lucky to have had such great people to work with.
2nd - The room! We had a king room & it was exactly as described. Nice size Fridge & Microwave with couple bottles of water provided to us each day. Bed comfy the view nice shower big enough for 2 & the room size great. Its sure was nice to be able to WALK around a room without running into something! Our room had a couch, who always wants to sit on the bed everytime you go back to your room?
3rd - The entire property of Grand Sierra; we enjoyed it! Hit the pool the first day, yep it was a mistake, should have put the sunscreen on! Bar service at the pool was so-so and the drink prices were a little high but nothing really that unusual or unpleasant. We were going to catch a movie at the theatre but we had so many things planned in just a few days we never made it. We hit the driving range, kinda cool. There are several restaurants including a Starbucks & I think a 24 hour Cafe (good icecream). Personally, the restuarants are slightly overpriced for their average quality. <spoiled from home good restaruants at great prices> Anyway try the buffet instead. I know that sounds horrible but the buffet was amazing! The food had flavor! It was our best meal & we ate on the property, in Reno, and in Tahoe! It was the best bang for our buck, we used comps the hubby earned while gambling which reduced the price. Wish we would have gone on the first night instead of the last! Urgh!
4th - Walmart is about 7 min walk across Sierra's parking lot, we hit it first thing and grabbed some soda. A youth baseball tournament was in town w/several teams staying in our hotel. We saw several moms hauling bags of chips & snacks from Walmart!
5th - Getting around. Sierra shuttle from the airport to hotel & back was great. Talk to drivers, they will give you some tips. Cab ride to downtown Reno $10 each way. The riverwalk from downtown to Grand Sierra about 2 miles but not to be done at night.
6th - Overall rating A+ & would book again!
Other Activities: shopping, boating, snowboarding, wildlife viewing, hot air ballooning, snowmobiling, mini golf
Golf: Many gorgeous golf courses in the area.
Ski: Tahoe's legendary North Side resorts are less than an hour away.
