This couple has 3 married children who also enjoy hiking and snorkeling on St. John. He is an environmental engineer; she is a communications director.
The Owner purchased this studio in 2011
After years of exploring the Virgin Islands through bareboat sailing rentals, we chose St. John because of the spectacular scenery, the warmth of the island people, and the perfect weather.
We love the ever-changing vistas of the harbor: pelicans diving, sailboats coming and going. Hiking and snorkeling are our favorite activities. The proximity to town is another plus - we love leaving the car behind and walking to the many wonderful restaurants in Cruz Bay.
I can only agree with all of the positive posts before me. We are here now and wanted to post before I get home to the rat race and not have the time.
Clean, comfy and all the amenities you could wish for. We did hear some music on Saturday night till about midnight (electric guitar) but that will happen when you are so close to everything. Quiet all the other nights. Just the waves....
Quiet peaceful watching boats coming in and out of the bay. Breakfast on terrace every morning. Great deli (Sam and jacks) to get lunch to pack for the beach. The beach food I would not recommend, pricey and crummy. Jacks was pricey and worth it.
Loved rhumb lines, tapas, lime inn and trying de-coal pot tonight for some real carribbean food (hubby's choice, he wants goat....)
Painkiller at beach bar a few steps away for happy hour 3 to 7.
Anna and Lori were great to deal with. I appreciated the little extras that they leave probably from previous guests. Some paper cups, salt and pepper, sugar..the kind of things that is frustrating to buy for a few days and know it will be discarded. I love common sense.
They are selling timeshares here but with a great rental like this one I can't see why?
Thank you Anna!
Condo was excellent, well stocked, comfortable. We did a sail with Captain Bob on the Spree 2 which was great. Hiked to Solomon and Honeymoon Beaches - well worth it. We enjoyed the Lime Inn, Fish Trap, and just about all the restaurants we tried. Walked everywhere - didn't need a jeep. Having the laundry in the unit was great.
Will be back next year!
This was our second time visiting St John, and our second time staying in this studio. Nothing but great things to say about it once again!!! Perfect size and amenities for the two of us. It is great having a washer and dryer if you need it. The owners are extremely easy to work with..Fast email responses which made booking a breeze! The management company is very easy to work with when you arrive on island, meeting you at the ferry dock and making sure you are all settled in with everything you need. This studio is all about LOCATION. The best in St John. I think you will realize the easy walk from town after a couple of happy hours at Woody's! A rental car isn't a must, but is nice if you want to explore other parts of the island, which we did for one day, and the managers at Grande Bay made it so easy for parking in the spot that comes along with this unit. Big plus since parking downtown is limited. We had a blast, and can't wait to return to this wonderful unit again. A big plus for the added beach chairs, and the bigger, softer cooler!!!
This studio condo was a perfect place for my husband and me. The property owners and managers were so easy to work with. We flew into St. Thomas and took the Red Hook ferry to St. John. One of the property managers, Craig, met us at the dock as did a representative from the rental company we had made arrangements with for jeep rental. Craig followed us to the rental location where the jeep was turned over to us after completion of paperwork. He then led us to the condo. We really appreciated that he did that for us as we would have been lost. The condo has assigned free parking so we didn't have worry about finding a spot. At our request, they stocked the condo with some food and beverages. Having beach chairs, coolers, beach towels, washer and dryer in the condo was great. Perfect location. Within walking distance to many restaurants, bars and shopping.
This was our first trip to St. John and we plan to return as soon as possible. When we return, we definitely want to stay in this condo!
This place felt like home immediately. Our brother and sister-in-law had the unit next door, so we opened the door between us and had a really big space to share! Everything we needed was provided, and Grande Bay Resort is just steps away to all the restaurants and shopping. We plan to come back soon! Loved it!
We had a wonderful time at the Grande Bay Studio. The views from the condo were just as beautiful as described. This unit was located within easy walking distance from the rest of the town, making it easy for us to walk to dinner, the ferry terminal, the car rentals or the grocery store. The unit was clean and well maintained, and the decorations were bright and sunny. My wife and I enjoyed renting a car for one day and using it to explore the far reaches of this beautiful island. The rest of the time we had no issues getting a taxi to take us to any beach that we could have wanted. The restaurants on this island are somewhat pricey, but my wife and I found that the prices at the Dolphin Market are extremely reasonable as long as you don't get the "American" brand food. We cooked many a lovely dinner in the condo using the microwave and the one electric stove eye that was provided.
We enjoyed taking taxi rides to the beaches along the north shore, just make sure you bring a phone so you can call a taxi when you are ready to head back to Cruz Bay. Also, make sure you book at least one sailing trip out of Cruz Bay to enjoy the wonderful Caribbean Waters. The Dive Shop right next door is extremely helpful with setting up reservations and for helping you with your snorkel gear.
1. Great Location
2. Beautiful Room and Comfortable Bed
3. Clean and spacious
4. Satellite TV
5. Great Guide Book Supplied by the owners to help you get around and find things.
6. Wonderful Soft Bed and clean linens.
7. Comes with a cooler.
8. Great views from the porch. Perfect for a late breakfast or a sunset dinner.
1. Really close to the ocean side bars. Don't expect to go to bed early on the weekends. Just stay up late and enjoy the music and watch the stars.
2. The unit was missing spatulas and had only one stirring spoon. Not a deal breaker, just bring your own if you plan on cooking.
3. The room was too nice. We wanted to stay in bed all day and risked missing out on the wonderful beaches of St. John.
