About Ann Keane

I feel creatively enriched at this home. I find great inspiration in this sacred peaceful, enviornment as a writer and oil painter. Some of my work is on display in the house and I have completed two books here. You will find a creative sanctuary here. Very inspiring for imagination as well as relaxing and restful. There is easy access 5 minutes to LaConner for meals. Breakfast at Calico Cupboard or dinner at Nel Thorn on the water or LaConner Seafood or Anthony's on the Anacortes Waterfront. Deception Pass State Park is near and has a freshwater lake and salt water beach with western exposure for the Olympics and sunsets.

Ann Keane purchased this cottage in 2003

Why Ann Keane chose La Conner

I was not shopping for a home, but was invited by the seller to enjoy a sunset and we were impelled to buy it. The beauty and land spoke to me and said home. I have no regrets. My family prefers holidays here rather than our larger home for its energy and festive cozy atmosphere. Our family reunions are more fun here. It is our family retreat sanctuary and healing place. The energy feels sacred and peaceful. A day at the cottage feels like we have been away for a week. Such a nice spirtual watering hole.

What makes this cottage unique

I especially like the moonsets as the reflection on the water illuminates the whole area like the glow of magic. The full moon lights up the whole glass front of the cottage like no flash light required and shimmers a stream through the waves to the front door. I like to get up to the song of the birds welcoming the day and I never tire of waiting for the next spectacular sunset. I always turn to my husband and say 'add that to your collection'. Every day is slower there and peaceful. When we return to town after a day I feel I have been to a wonderful resort for a week. This is a great reconnect place and the only place my husband allows himself to nap on the couch. I am honored to share the experience with friends. My guests tell me they like the chair facing the water in front of the french doors in the morning with their coffee with the fireplace lit. I recently rehabbed the whole property, Even with the decor tired, my guests only left positive accolades of their experience in my guest book. Kayakers would enjoy the beach as it is close and accessible.

Peaceful cabin on the beach

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed this beautifully decorated, comfortable cabin. The sunset view is amazing. The path to the beach is quite steep and narrow, but the rocky beach below is peaceful. We never saw another soul. The TV does take quite a while to heat up so be patient, but everything was working and we had a great anniversary weekend.

Darling cottage

  • 5 of 5

Sweet little cottage on the shores of Puget Sound, close to La Conner's amenities (7 minute drive?). Rocky beach with access from cottage (seniors and young children may need assistance), great for beach combing. Cottage was tastefully decorated and very clean. Living room has sofa and loveseat which are not pullouts. This wasn't an issue for us but may be for taller guests. We recommend dining at the Oyster and Thistle in La Conner - absolutely stellar service, food and wine. We would recommend this cottage for a romantic getaway, and hope to come back.

Beautiful cottage in La Conner - Annie's place

  • 5 of 5

This was a beautiful, newly repainted and refurbished cottego overlooking the water at La Conner with a private path to beach. My 2 girlfriends and I had a wonderful time. It was so peaceful. Thank you Ann, for sharing this special place with us. We'll be back!

Second time staying here.... wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

This review is very late. We stayed at Annie's Cottage for the second time in July 2013 for two weeks. So much to do and see in the area. We brought our bikes and enjoyed so many nice bike rides... several on the San Juan islands. Annie's Cottage is so much nicer than staying in a hotel. It has a "cottagy" feel. The view is amazing, the cottage is small but perfect for two people. Very comfortable... comfy bed, comfy sofas (great place for an afternoon nap), cozy gas fireplace, comfy outdoor furniture, towel warmer in the bathroom, wifi, and nice TV (in case the weather is bad you can just hang out at the cottage and enjoy the view and perhaps a movie and the fireplace). Lots of great places to eat in La Conner, Annacortes, Friday Harbour but you can also choose to cook because you've got a full kitchen with everything you need. Very private! The property is not shared with other guest or the owner. Neighbours are close but quiet. THANK YOU to Annie for sharing your beautiful little cottage! Please don't sell... we hope we can come back many times!... Sabine (No time off this summer but hope we can come for a weekend soon and again next summer)

Owner's Response: thank you Sabine for taking the time to review your stay. I missed you this year and am happy you shared your past positive experiences. You enjoyment encourages me to continue to share my sacred space and give others the regenerative time we all need now an again. The beauty of nature is so healing and there is so much to do around that area. Summer is fun with the farmers markets and available fish. The restaurants are excellent and just sitting and having dream time is excellent. Blessings to and thanks for the validation. I hope you come soon and enjoy the new paint and furniture and bedding towels and spiffy new decor. You touched my heart Annie

Beautiful spot

  • 5 of 5

Just got back from 2 nights. This location was perfect for us. Only 5 mins from la Conner but very isolated on the water. We bar-b-q'd 1 night and ate down on the beach. Having morning coffee watching the eagles fishing was a great way to start the day. We did a day trip over to Friday harbour which was a great way to spend an afternoon by the water. I would recommend this place to anyone. Excellent value. Thanks Ann!

Owner's Response: Hi Scott, I was worried the reservation would be too much fireworks for you and you went on an adventure through the San Juans. I used to do that all day with my kids when they were small and was a great way to stimulate and keep them busy for almost nothing in cost. I am so glad you made your time a great adventure and I hope you return many times in the future. I want to keep it nice for people like you who appreciate the break from life. Blessings to you Ann

Great cottage in La Conner with amazing views!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at this beautiful cottage for 6 days on our recent trip to Washington to meet our 3-week old grandson, and spend time with him, our daughter, and son-in-law. Ann's cottage was perfect for our trip. The setting was spectacular; directly on Skagit Bay with an every changing view. The cottage itself is perfect for two people, and we could not have felt more comfortable staying there. The pictures of the cottage are accurate, and in fact may not entirely do justice as to just how nice it is. Its close proximity to La Conner, Anacortes, and other nearby landmarks was also very convenient. Ann was great to deal with and was very responsive to all our questions and needs before, during, and after our stay. As we plan on visiting our new grandson frequently, we hope to have the pleasure to stay at Ann's cottage on all our future trips to Washington.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind remarks and validation. I was excited about your new family addition and the convenience of my place for you. I hope you will think of Annie's as your home away from home and return often. I don't live in Washington and have thought of selling but keep the place for people like you who get it and enjoy. thank you so much Blessings Ann
