Enjoy this custom timber frame home on the slopes of Kicking Horse. It is wonderful for skiing, spring summer and weddings.

This home features mountain views, a gourmet kictchen, hot tub, and is located directly on Cache Creek. It was professionally decorated and has heated floors in all bathrooms.

There are two laundry rooms, one on the first floor and one on the second. The three fireplace each have a gas log lighter to ease the starting of your fires, and there is an ample supply of firewood.

There are amazing views and the home was designed for comfort. This home has it all.

We came to Kicking Horse in 2003 and fell in love with the place. We began construction on the largest lot available at the time, and completed the house in 2003. We have enjoyed every minute of it.

Mark W Yonkman purchased this house in 2004

Kicking Horse is one of the top resorts in the world. And the New York Times rated the mountain top restaurant (Eagle Eye) as the best view in the world. We were able to purchase the best lot in the area, backing onto Cache Creek, which passes right by the hot tub. The people are great, and we have enjoyed everything.

This is the house first featured in the materials for the ski area. It has a Gourmet Kitchen, with a 48' Viking Range, 2 dishwashers and built in Miele Coffee Maker. The Hot Tub sits next to Cache Creek, which runs behind the house. It is a wonderful place to stay.

What an amazing home! Myself and a group of friends were lucky enough to stay at this property through Feb and I have nothing but praise not only for the home but the property owner who was fantastic in all communications.

The property itself easily catered for the 10 people that stayed and the facilities were fantastic, be it the heated garage / heated pathways to the spa / numerous bathrooms or open kitchen this property is perfect for large groups.

The mountain itself was billiant, very few people mid week with fantastic back country skiiing available.

This is our 7th group ski trip and this property was by far and away the best property we have had the pleasure of staying in so thank you Mark for sharing your home.

BEAUTIFUL LUXURY CHALET!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this amazingly spacious and luxurious living living space. There was ample space for 13 people (if one person doesn't mind sleeping in a pull out) and all the amenities were over the top! The hot tub was great, and the heated steps leading up to the tub were a fantastic touch. The in-wall espresso maker was also fantastic for a large group of people, and the kitchen had ample space for cooking. The rooms were very spacious, and the beds were extremely comfortable, not to mention, having 5 bathrooms was great. My only criticism would be that it is not necessarily a "ski in, ski out" chalet, there is a bit of a walk to get the the gondola. The other is that there are a few inconspicuous cameras hidden up in the trees, one of which was aimed at the master suite, which could be a little concerning. That being said, I have no idea if they were turned on. All in all, we all had a wonderful stay, and would definitely recommend this place in the future!

Owner's Response: Nikolaus - thanks for your review. I'm glad you had a nice time at the chalet. As we discussed last week, the security cameras are up in the trees because they are actually aimed at the 4 valleys in the roof for insurance purposes. We had significant snow damage two year ago and had to replace the entire roof. When we did that, we also heated the roof from underneath. That is why our roof is always clear of snow. But in addition, the cameras are there in case no one is at the house so that I can ensure that the system is working. Our insurer requires us to have a visual once a week. But because the house is occupied almost every week, we haven't had to use the cameras at all.
And I'm glad I could clarify my ad - it says "ski in and walk out", which is what you experienced. The ski trail ends at my garage, so skiing in is not problem. But I agree with you completely - you have to walk back down the street the catch the ski trail again to the gondola.
I hope to see you again next year.

EXCELLENT VACATION RENTAL PROPERTY

Our group of 13 adults stayed at this beautiful house for 5 days and 4 nights. We could not have asked for better accommodations. Prior to arrival, the owner was easily accessible and provided detailed information regarding the house, including what was provided so we knew exactly what to expect upon arrival. The house itself was beautiful, along with the scenery. It was very well layed out with a very spacious common area and more than reasonably sized bedrooms. As a bonus, every bedroom had its own ensuite which was very convenient for such a large group. The only downside of this house comes when it is at full capacity (13 people), the 13th bed in the loft is quite uncomfortable. In all fairness though, we were warned of this in advance of booking and told there was a reasonably comfortable blow mattress that could be used alternatively to the loft pullout (unfortunately we forgot about this until the last day). The house was very well stocked with all the bare essentials a group of travelers might require (linens, towels, kitchen appliances, etc...), the only thing you really need to get for yourself is your food. The built in coffee maker in the kitchen makes some of the best coffee we have ever tasted. We had some troubles getting it to work properly on the first day, however, the owner was easily accessible by phone to help us get it up and running. In any case, it was totally worth it. Primarily on a ski resort there was still plenty to do at this time of year. There are many good hiking trails nearby, as well as golf, and for adventure seekers, white water rafting. Overall, we would definitely return to this property in the future as well as recommend it to any friends looking to stay in the area.

Owner's Response: Thank you Adam. I'm glad everything worked out. And yes, that twin pull out always bothered me so I never counted it as an actual bed. But you will be happy to know that I got rid of it this fall and replaced it with an actual twin trundle bed, with a normal mattress. But I still view this as an overflow bed, so though the house sleeps 13 (without the inflatable mattress, which would bring it to 15), I continue to advertise the house as sleeping 12.

AMAZING PROPERTY, GREAT HOME AWAY FROM HOME.

We had our wedding party stay here for 5 nights and every single one of us was blown away with how nice this place was. Lots of room for everyone, beds were comfortable, the kitchen is very well-stocked, and the back-yard patio, fire-pits, and hot-tub were incredible.
The listing and photos were very descriptive of what the house was like, if anything it downplayed how great it was. The property was very clean and very well-maintained. The owner was very accommodating, and answered all of our questions, and we would definitely recommend staying at this property. Besides our wedding, we took in XC mountain biking at the Moonraker trail system, (10 minutes from the house), DH mountain biking at Kicking Horse Resort, bear watching, Peaks Grill, and ridge-line hikes at the top of the mountain from the gondola. Golden also has many great little restaurants and shops.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the nice note. It is a wonderful spot, with the back of the house facing only the creek, with no other homes in sight.
