My husband John and myself operated Annie's Bed and Breakfast in Springville for 17 years prior to moving up the hill to Ponderosa. We both love the quiet mountains and have moved our Custom saddle shop 'Boz Saddlery' up here. Guests are welcome to watch John 'Boz' create a beautiful custom handmade saddle and also Equestrian gear. I help John in the saddle shop also. We have riding clinics and lessons available for quests with their own horses. Come up and relax and share our beautiful piece of paradise. The picture is us in costume for our artist neighbor for one of his shows. We were creatures in the snow.
The Owner purchased this cabin in 2001
I grew up with a cabin in Camp Nelson (12 miles down from Ponderosa) and loved this area. We looked all over the north west states and found this property in our own backyard. We are 4 hours from the beach, LA and 6 hours from SF. Great spot and lots or nothing to do, you can make the choice.
We have the most beautiful redwoods 10 miles from us, fishing a couple of miles, hiking, birdwatching. If you don't have a horse of your own, there is Quaking Aspen pack station that will take you for day rides or you can pack back into the back country. Trails, trails and miles or more trails for hiking, mountain biking and in the wintertime a great place for snowmobiling, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Our area has a lot to offer and it isn't crowded.
My family and I had an incredible vacation up at Ann and John's cabin. first of all, if you like to really get away from the city and land in a beautiful spot of nature, this is the place. the gorgeous meadow right outside the door, the nearby hiking in the woods, and no people within shouting distance (except our lovely hosts when needed) makes this a place to truly take a retreat. then there's the cabin - simple, clean, with everything you need plus an incredible kitchen with a griddle/grill that would warm the heart of any short order cook. we cooked some fabulous meals there. good food was had by all. Ann and John are experienced and gifted hosts who know how to give you the space you need to truly relax, and yet always seem to be there for advice or recommendations (or some extra parsley if you run out!) just in the nick of time. and we got to bring our golden retriever who, if he could talk, would be begging us right now to go back up to the cabin.
My wife and I stayed at Piggly Pines over the July 4th weekend. I must say, I couldn't have imagined it being much better.
Location: The area was green and lush with many trees surrounding it. We enjoyed hiking all over and beyond the meadow. So much to explore! Everyone we ran into into locally was very friendly. At 7200 feet the air is crisp and clean. The night sky is beaming with 1,000 times more stars than you could hope to see under the bright lights of the city. Truly, a sight to behold. We even saw 4 shooting stars!
Cabin: A+, kitchen is outstanding, very well equipped. Very well decorated with well thought out touches all over. Great selection of book, may I recommend "That Quail, Robert. DVD player and VHS player. Very comfortable bed.
Owners: Anne & John were very kind. Anne supplied detailed instructions and maps for the ride up and was thoughtful enough to print up a list of hikes and activities in the area for the weekend. She even brought me a piece of cake on my birthday (it was yummy by the way).
Thank you so much for making our time up there with you such a delight.
P.S. - They have 2 dogs, Mohawk & Highway, and a cat, Simba. All 3 of them were super loving & friendly. FYI: Mohawk loves to have his belly rubbed.

I fell in love with Annie’s Piggly Pines as soon as I got there, and all of my hopes and desires for a fantastic place to stay and relax, were instantly realized! It is comfortably close, only 200 miles from my door in Southern California.
It is part of the best of the southern Sierra, this glorious meadow surrounded by Ponderosa pines, secluded enough to think you had backpacked in, peaceful and quiet, with all of the comforts of home.
My furry children were absolutely in heaven with room to run, smell, and explore, all that they could stand, priceless!
Ann and John are the sweetest, and most kind hosts you could ask for. They never intruded, but if I needed to ask a question, or find something, they were almost magically available.
I adore everything about their slice of paradise, and I am going back, next week, I can’t wait !!!
Did I mention the hammocks? OMG Brutal relaxation, it is sooooo beautiful.
Thanks for sharing some of the Best of the West, I am very grateful,
My boyfriend and I spent a lovely 4 day holiday at Ann and Boz's Piggly Pines over Christmas and had a truly wonderful and relaxing time. Though there wasn't enough snow to use our snowshoes we still had a great time wandering the meadow and trying to find spots with enough snow to skid down on a sled that Boz kindly lent us. The fireplace keeps the place nice and warm and cozy for relaxing and reading and playing games. We cooked up a storm in the AMAZING full service kitchen complete with everything you could want to make any sort of feast. The bed was very comfortable and the bedroom looks out onto the meadow as well which is a great way to wake up. Everything was very clean and tidy and they even decorated for the season. Would highly recommend this lovey retreat. Thanks Ann and Boz!
My girlfriend and I spent a very memorable New Year's at Annie and Boz's cabin. They are the most gracious of hosts and the cabin is a dream. We love the commercial kitchen, where we cooked some fabulous meals, and also the terrific view out onto Kramer Meadow through the large windows. It's the perfect place to spend a quiet winter's afternoon sipping hot chocolate while enjoying the snowy views, but also a great base for winter sports like cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. We rented cross-country skis at Frazier Park north of Los Angeles and spent four wonderful days skiing from our doorstep on miles of backcountry trails. The best part is that we got to share the experience with our pooch, who happily trotted along the trails with us as we cross-country skied.
My wife, my friend and me were lucky to book this place for the Labor Day-weekend just one week before it. What can I say? This is a truly wonderful place and Ann and Boz are wonderful people. We enjoyed our stay and Ann pointed us to interesting places around the area.
The cabin is comfortable and we did campfires every night. In evening hours it gets really dark and absolutely quiet - something we people from big towns are not used to.
This is totally relaxing place and we all wanted to stay way longer than we did. We will come back definitely at a different time.
