House, 4 Bedrooms + Office, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

Located on a quiet cul-de-sac behind the second security gate, this feng shui-inspired home overlooks a scenic lagoon teaming with wildlife and is a 5 to max 10 minute walk to the pristine beaches of Kiawah Island. You walk by a fountain and enter the front of our home through a lovely tiled foyer with glass cabinets featuring collectibles. To your left, the foyer leads to a large bright and airy kitchen with high-end new stainless steel appliances, including a gas cooktop and subzero refrigerator, granite countertops, a breakfast bar, and large dining table adjacent to an outdoor deck with an additional dining table and benches. The first floor also has a den with a trey ceiling, that opens to the screen porch overlooking the lagoon; a great room, with a high vaulted ceiling, lots of windows, a fireplace, and new flat screen TV, that opens to a deck overlooking the lagoon; a screen porch -- ideal for relaxing and enjoying morning coffee or an afternoon drink; three decks; and a separate laundry room that also opens to the front of the house near the outdoor shower and the two car garage. The first floor master bedroom and bath are being completely renovated for summer of 2014 and will have a king size bed, flat screen TV, private bath with double sinks, marble countertops, soaking tub and large separate shower, walk in closet, sitting area and sliding doors to a deck overlooking the lagoon. The other two bedrooms on the first floor are to your right when you enter our home. They are on the other side of the house from the master bedroom providing guests with privacy. They feature queen beds, two closets each, bathrooms (one shared, one private) and one guest room opens out on a deck overlooking the lagoon. The second floor includes a loft with a TV, fourth bedroom lighted by a large skylight with 2 twin beds, and a private study with a queen sleep sofa.

Enjoy all the amenities of this comfortable home with high speed wireless internet access, cable television, unlimited long distance calls and a DVD. Renters are welcome to use the two adult and two children's bicycles and new outdoor gas grill.

Tom and Janet are Charlotte residents with children ranging in age from 18 to 29. After spending most of their working careers in the Philadelphia area, we relocated to Charlotte in 2006 where Janet began work at Bank of America and Tom started a 'second career' as a math teacher. Tom is also an avid bridge player and both Janet and Tom look forward to playing bridge on Kiawah. We also enjoy bike riding and playing tennis.

Tom Hunt purchased this house in 2011

We chose Kiawah Island because we love it there. Tom grew up spending his summers at Kiawah at one of the original houses on Eugenia Avenue. During good weather, he spent his time bodysurfing, turtle, alligator and bird watching, boating and exploring the island. Rainy days meant hearts, bridge, scrabble and Trivial Pursuit. Our honeymoon was spent on Kiawah. Tom's brother also has a house on Kiawah. We would like to eventually retire at Kiawah.

We purchased this property in 2011 and the prior owner did not rent it. This property feels like home and not like a rental property.

RELAXING BEACH GETAWAY

Nice rental home on pretty lagoon lot. Pros: Pretty, bright house well-stocked with kitchen supplies, etc. with comfortable couch and beds in bedrooms and great tv in family room and master bedroom. Cons: The 10-minute walk to the beach is difficult with 2 young children (5, 2). Therefore, we would drive our kids and beach stuff to the beach path, then have a family member drive the car back and forth. No closet or bathroom in the loft area upstairs is very inconvenient. We saw 6-8 live cockroaches in the house and on screened-in porch. Bikes provided are in bad shape; brakes barely work and the ladies bike making a crunching sound when speeding up. All in all, we had a great time, but wanted to provide feedback!

Owner's Response: Thank you, Tasha, for your feedback. We have purchased two new bicycles. The palmetto bugs are endemic to the island but I am surprised Tasha saw so many. The house is sprayed 6 times per year. We arranged for a special spraying.

I viewed photos of numerous properties on Kiawah before deciding on this property.The photos of the property depict an updated, light, and well decorated residence. I was ready for a disappointment as I'm well aware what can be done with photography. To my surprise the house was everything written about it and depicted in the photos. However,I would like to correct one description of the property, i.e. the beach is not 10 minutes from the house. If you have full use of your lower extremeties it's only 5 minutes, unless you linger on the lagoon bridge, which you will always do. Will surely return.

GREAT GETAWAY

We greatly enjoyed our stay here. The house is beautifully decorated with lots of amenities. The kitchen is very light, has beautiful granite countertops and is very spacious. The rooms are big and nicely laid out to allow for a lot of privacy. The big flat screen TV in the Great Room was an added bonus. We enjoyed the short walk to the beach.. The screened porch overlooking the lagoon was perfect for relaxing. The house is extremely clean and well maintained. We especially loved the beautiful master suite with its beautiful bath. We highly recommend this house and look forward to staying here again.

SUMMER VACATION 2011

My family felt very comfortable in this lavish but simple home. It was as though we were at home away from home. Very spacious and rooms were spread out well which meant you had privacy. Master suite was isolated away from everyone else with it's own powder room,walk in closet,toilet, shower and spa tub. The grounds were beautiful and the indoor and out decks looked out across the dunes. Fishing, bike trails and the beach were very close. (had 3 bikes on site) no rentals needed :)The beach was never crowded, so you felt as though it were private. You felt very safe, access into the island was "no joke". Don't think you can just drive into Kiawah Island you will be pleasantly surprised. So,rent this home and you would want to tell everyone about it. HAD A BALL!

Our family greatly enjoyed this home. The home is spacious, clean, and
very nicely decorated. For a rental property the master suite is top
notch. The kitchen extremely functional, with a large table and peninsula
for dining. The bike ride to the beach is easy, and even with small
children it takes 5 minutes at most. We would not hesitate to rent the
home again, and we highly recommend the home.

BEAUTIFUL HOME CLOSE TO THE BEACH!

We had a wonderful time staying at this home. It is located approximately a five minute walk from a beautiful beach or barely a two minute bike ride, which is very convenient for going to and from the beach during the day. The house itself is privately set back and open with a lot of natural light provided by abundant skylights and windows. The abundance of outdoor space is great, we spent a lot of time relaxing in the screened in porch listening to the wildlife around us. The indoor space is tastefully decorated, with a definite feng shui vibe coming through. Would definitely come back!
