LIGHTKEEPERS HOUSE & COTTAGES AT POINT CABRILLO LIGHTSTATION STATE HISTORIC PARK

Mendocino House Rental Photos and Description

The house has 4 bedrooms each with private bath, sleeps 8.

This house is a beautifully restored turn of the century residence overlooking the world-renowned Point Cabrillo Lighthouse. Sited on a sweeping Pacific Ocean Headland, the views are a breathtaking Coastal feast for the eyes; passing gray whales, dolphins, and fishing boats...pelicans, gulls, wild turkey, and 47 other species of birds...families of deer...sunsets, starry skies, full moons to die for...and the endless waves and wonder of the ocean just 57 feet below your cliff top.

Inside, the Lightkeeper's House is authentically furnished, circa 1909, yet it offers comfortable, upgraded amenities, including four bedrooms, each with queen beds, private bathrooms, and individual room thermostats for your evening comfort. A modern Viking-equipped kitchen and large formal dining room will enhance your vacation dining pleasure.

All bedrooms are on the second floor and are not wheel chair accessible. All rooms on the ground floor are wheel chair accessible. For wheel chair accessible sleeping accommodations there are two adjacent one bedroom detached cottages with accessible baths that may be rented separately or in combination with the house.

Point Cabrillo Lightstation State Historic Park: The Point Cabrillo Light Station California State Historic Park is owned by California State Parks. The Light Station is managed and operated under a concession contract by the Point Cabrillo Lightkeepers Association (PCLK), a 501-C3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and maintenance of the Point Cabrillo Light Station. The PCLK has contracted with Mendocino Coast Reservations, a local rental management company, to manage the reservation and occupancy of the house and cottages.

Things to do : The Historic Village of Mendocino with its unique Water Towers, Art Galleries, and Restaurants is nearby, visit the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens, ride the Skunk Train, and experience the water slide and swimming pools at the CV Starr Aquatic Center in Fort Bragg. Whale watching and charter fishing excursions are available in Noyo Harbor Fort Bragg. Canoe, Kayak, and Bicycle rentals are available in both Mendocino and Fort Bragg Surf Boarding at Big River Beach in Mendocino and at Caspar Beach next to the lightstation.

The Point Cabrillo Lightstation: The lighthouse at Point Cabrillo is an active aid to navigation with its third order Frsenl Lens operating today just as it did in 1909. The interior of the lighthouse now contains a museum that tells the story of Northern California from the Pomo Indians, the wreck of the Clipper Ship Frolic, through the construction and reconstruction of the lighthouse. The East Lightkeepers house contains the Lightkeepers Museum displaying the life a a lightkeeper during the 1930s. Additional information about the lightstation may be found at our web site: www.pointcabrillo.org .
