This charming 2 story home sits on 10 acres and is surrounded by sagebrush flats and old growth juniper. the mountain views from the deck are stunning. The abundant sunshine keeps the home warm in winter and the breeze across the sage cools it in the summer.
the top floor is one large great room with kitchen and bath. There are 16 steps. The lower floor has a large open space, 2 bedrooms, laundry and bath. The lower deck has a hot tub to soak and view the mountains or the stars.
There is a separate playhouse with a large deck that has heat and lights. 1 mile from the rodeo grounds.

I live in Portland with my 2 kids and 2 cats.
Mike Parrish purchased this house in 1995
This area has the best weather and easy access to the outdoor activities I enjoy. Climbing, mountain biking, mountaineering, backpacking, hiking and hanging out
sitting on the deck with a cold drink looking at the mountains after a long bike ride.
This place is much more spacious than the images reflect. Our group included 11 adults and 1 large dog and by all accounts was incredibly comfortable for meals, lounging, and sleeping. The views were amazing...north, middle, and south sisters as well as broken top! The accommodations within were great, especially the tub out back! This place is just far enough off the beaten path to feel a sense of "away," while also being staged proximal to the Metolius River, Mt. Bachelor, 3 Sisters wilderness, and Smith Rock! You would be missing a real gem if you chose to overlook this place.
I stayed in this lovely cabin for a week in July with my pets. Mike was a kind and gracious host and very responsive to email and later by phone.
The cabin sits on 10 acres in a community with other cabins and some year around residents. It sits about 10 minutes away from Sisters and about 20 minutes to Bend. There are homes on either side of the cabin. The closest home is situated forward on their property while the cabin is situated towards the back so you really can’t see or hear the neighbors. The other home is much further away and can’t be seen. The only thing that is visible is their horse corral.
The property is very natural and is enjoyable to stroll in the morning and evenings.
The cabin has two levels. The main living area with the kitchen and one bathroom is upstairs to take advantage of the lovely mountain views. There are 16 stairs from the front door up to the upper level. I mention this because the one of the previous review made it sound like it was outrageous and that’s not the case. The upstairs is very cozy with a TV and lots of games. The house is situated east to west so you can watch a lovely sunrise and beautiful sunsets.
There are windows on all sides of the upper level with screens and a large slider to the amazing deck. There were NO bugs at all except an occasionally month. It was so comfortable; I almost never closed the door. My dogs enjoyed going in and out onto the deck during the heat of the day. They also enjoyed watching the jackrabbits and chipmunks.
The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, mixers and other things making it really pleasant and easy to cook. Only need to bring the groceries.
The bedrooms are on the lower level with the outdoor shower and a half bath. It was always cool and comfortable down there during our stay. It was in the 90s on multiple days. There is also a washer and dryer on this level.
The backdoor opens out to the outdoor shower and hot tub.
My week’s stay at this cabin was restful and very enjoyable. I think it’s a great place for a weekend retreat or a base for exploring Bend, Sisters and the surrounding area.
Mike is most helpful. If you are looking for a comfortable home away from home, this cabin is it.
Sorry I am just getting this review written, but....our group of moms and teen daughters spent a lovely block of time celebrating the start of summer in this comfortable home in Sisters. The girls spent endless hours exploring, catching lizards ( and a frog!), spotting jack rabbits and cute little bunnies, making friends with the neighbor horse. We played games, cooked , ended our days with a luxurious soak in the hot tub. The days found us exploring the area...we hiked around Smith Rock, had an adventure going up to the observatory and lava flows. There are endless things to do and see in this region, and this home is comfortable and in a lovely setting with stunning views. The girls loved staying in the bunk house, their own little cabin, which meant their late night giggling didn't keep us up! The outdoor shower with a view of that wide open sky was another unexpected perk of this great home!
The owner is kind and super easy to work with. I hope we get the opportunity to return....I can't recommend it highly enough!
My family loves this cabin. Cozy and comfortable with amazing views of the mountains. We were lucky with clear skies this trip, and the stars at night were stunning. The owner is very, very helpful and always willing to fix anything that needs fixing. The kitchen is well stocked, the hot tub nice and hot. It's a great location for hiking, biking and skiing. We hope to be back!
The cabin was, as advertised isolated and remote--with lovely views of the Cascades. It was down a long dirt road with a locked gate. That is the good news.
The bad news is that we were there during a heat wave, and the temperature ranged all week from 92-98! That certainly was not the fault of the owner. However, the cabin needs some renovation and amenities to make it a comfortable retreat. As it is, it was close to uninhabitable in the heat. There is no screen on the one sliding door to the back deck. And no shades on the West facing windows. Shades on other windows need to be replaced. There is only one bathroom with tub and shower--upstairs. The other is a half bath and is on the first floor with all the beds--which are arranged family style. No place to hang out downstairs, which was about 83 degrees. It was waaaay too hot to go upstairs--except quite late at night when we opened all the windows and turned on the two small fans, Needless to say, we spent very little time at the cabin--mainly to sleep, which was comfortable enough.
A big drawback is for seniors--or anyone with movement difficulties. There are 19 stairs going straight up as one enters the house. They are not navigable for anyone with arthritis, for sure. There needs to be a warning to this effect in the property description.
I can see sportsmen or families with kids and dogs staying at this place when weather is nice--or if they like winter sports. Just be aware that it has minimal amenities. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this property to a friend or relative---except perhaps to my adult son and friends who are winter sport enthusiasts.
Where do I start. Well Mike, The owner was SO Easy to work with and willing to work with us and make sure we had an amazing time, you could tell it wasn't just about making money for him. From the first phone call, everything was so easy. We got to the cabin late Friday night, this place rocked! The cabin is so homely and fully stocked with everything you need. One thing we absolutely loved about it was it worked on the "Karma system" There was some food in the cupboard and it was like a "take some, leave some" setup. We made sure to leave some! The Cabin was way bigger than expected and there was PLENTY of sleeping room, extra towels, sheets blankets, you name it, it was there. Plenty of board Games, video games, music, movies, etc. The hot tub was awesome sitting on the back porch so you could watch the sunset, look at the stars, or just relax. The view was phenomenal, we even saw some Deer wandering. It was only about 15 minutes from town but felt so secluded. We brought our 6 year old German shepherd who had a blast as well, with more than enough room for roaming. I could go on and on about how absolutely incredible this place is, and we will with no doubt be staying here every time we bring our snowmobiles to town, possibly even with our boat and jet skis in the summer. I highly recommend staying here, it is well worth the money and just incredible. Thanks Mike for giving us the opportunity to stay in your cabin! We will be out that way again soon!
