Overview

Fort Bragg Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

This exquisite Asian jewel is set in beautiful, peaceful, private gardens with a large pond. Gorgeous custom-made furniture, Bose surround-sound, spa-like glass block shower. Quiet, clean, radiant heat under bamboo floor warms the soul and feet. A truly inspiring space with tons of architectural details. Quarter of a mile walk over sand dunes (50 yards away) to shoreline of Ten Mile beach and river in the Fort Bragg sunbelt. Because this section of beach is only by private access, it's relatively deserted. Many guests choose to come for a solo retreat. 40 bird species within a one mile radius of the cottage.

Sleep in comfortable queen Flo-Bed (latex) with the surf as a lullaby and birds as your alarm. Four state parks nearby for kayaking, canoeing, hiking etc. Fort Bragg and Mendocino shops and restaurants 10 to 20 minutes respectively. Lost Coast 30 min. north of Westport.

Sorry, no pets.

About Lindsay

I'm a 34 year resident of Fort Bragg- all that time practicing as a psychotherapist but now retired. My other occupation is tending my Japanese garden! I love walking on the virtually deserted dunes and stretch of Ten Mile beach. All my guests comment on the serene, peaceful feeling of the property and the attention to detail. I live in the main house on the property.

Lindsay purchased this cottage in 2000

Why Lindsay chose Fort Bragg

I custom built the cottage originally for friends to enjoy when visiting.

What makes this cottage unique

Peace, quiet, beautiful natural surroundings and easy access to a little used stretch of the beach. 40 bird species within a one mile radius of cottage.

Dream Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I think the best I can do in this review is confirm what most people are saying and the reason I chose this for my our first anniversary retreat, this place is a dream. From the moment you pull into the property you know you are somewhere special and will want to come back. The gardens, the pond, the walkways and lighting. As an architect, I see how much care and thought was put into the whole place and appreciate that.

Just a few hours after arriving my wife and I felt the stress of our daily lives melt away. Didn't want to leave. Trust the pictures, it is that awesome.

Perfect cottage

  • 5 of 5

Lindsay's cottage was everything my husband and I were hoping for. First things first, the cottage is extremely well stocked from extra toiletries to multiple types of coffee beans accompanied by a coffee grinder to freshly grind a wonderful pot of coffee! She has plenty of books and brochures about the area as well as a pair of binoculars to use while out on your adventures. We loved the under floor heating throughout the cottage, it truly kept the cottage warm and cozy but without any dusty allergy ridden air that comes from running traditional vent delivered heat. The bathroom provided a luxurious experience with a beautiful sink and huge shower area that allowed for your feet to experience teak wood underneath as you showered as opposed to hard cold tile. There are countless places to visit or walk or hike within a 20 minute drive, but if you prefer to stay in the cottage a short jaunt through beautiful dunes leads you to the most secluded beach I have ever been to. We walked out to that beach right after high tide receded and found a bunch of undamaged and whole sea dollars. The surrounding towns are so peaceful and if you do not feel like visiting one of the many local restaurants for food there is a Safeways super close to the cottage. For dinner one night we ran to safeways and got fried chicken platters from their deli for only $6 each. All in all, this was just the perfect experience for a peaceful getaway from your normal hectic life!

Peaceful Paradise

  • 5 of 5

This warm and peaceful property was exactly what we were looking for. As soon as we got to the cottage, we could tell that Lindsay puts love into everything she does. The grounds are beautiful and meditative. We walked the adjacent dunes and beach for hours in almost complete privacy. The whole environment encouraged us to just relax and enjoy the beauty of the North Coast. We will definitely return to the Zen Jewel, but this time we will stay longer!

Warm as the California sunshine!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is everything we had hoped for. After a long trip from Michigan with expectations of the dreamy northern california we found ourselves at the relaxing zen jewel. For our week stay it felt like home. The owner was such a beautiful soul and extremely inviting. She gave us all the privacy in the world although we would not have minded having her sit out with us around the fire. She was so sweet. The cottage itself we clean and well kept and BEAUTIFUL!. I just want to uproot it and plant it here in michigan so i can go every weekend. Thanks again for the wonderful stay and sorry for the late review. Cant wait to come back in two years!

An Oasis of Calm

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful, cozy cottage that guides you towards a peaceful time.

The dunes are less than 10 mins walk away and yet it can seem like a world away from civilization.

Facilities at the Zen Jewel are top notch. Very tastefully decorated and it seemed to me like a lot (if not all) was custom designed and built by the property owner.

Worth visiting again.

It's as good as everyone says

  • 5 of 5

You may wonder after reading all these glowing reviews if the Zen Jewel Sanctuary can really be that good. The answer is yes, it’s even better than the descriptions. Quiet, serene, restful, inspiring - it’s all of these and more. We had imagined this as a base from which to explore the area beaches and forests, but found ourselves, over our weeklong stay, increasingly content to simply stay at the cottage. Lindsay goes out of her way to make your visit as pleasant as possible. I think she sincerely enjoys sharing her beautiful cottage and gardens with others.
