The Cecilia is a condominium like no other. Situated in the Hawthorne District of Portland, Oregon (five minutes from downtown by car) and only one block from Hawthorne Avenue, it is an elegantly restored, circa 1910 condominium. Relax in the comfortable, beautifully furnished living room, sleep on the best of mattresses with high thread count sheets, cook in the gourmet kitchen (if you can resist the many incredible restaurants within walking distance) and enjoy your morning coffee on the private porch.

After a full day of activities, settle into an Adirondack chair on the porch with a glass of wine and plan your next day in Portland. What will it be? The Pearl District, Japanese Garden, Powell's bookstore, Sak's Fifth Avenue, antique shopping, a bicycle ride, a hike on one of the many park trails, the Portland Art Museum, The Saturday Market, a day trip to visit the vineyards? So much to do, so little time.

Why the Owner Chose Portland: While looking for a 'home away from home' in Portland, I fell in love with the Hawthorne/Belmont area-the lovely craftsman style homes, tree-lined streets and the proximity to absolutely everything in Portland. I could walk to downtown and the Saturday market or hop on the bus and be at Powell's bookstore, OMSI, Convention Center or train station in less than 30 minutes. Some of Portland's best restaurants are within a few blocks. There are many great neighborhoods in Portland-but none better than this!

The Unique Benefits at this Condo: I love coming 'home' to the Cecilia. There is something special about being here. From the time I open the front door and see the lovely leaded glass window at the top of the stairs, enter through french doors into the foyer, then into the light-filled dining room, I feel at home. After unpacking I head to the porch, collapse into one of the Adirondack chairs and plan my Portland time which is always too brief. A quick look in the guest book to see what the most recent guests had to say always makes me smile. Guests fall in love with the Cecilia as I have. In the short time that I have owned the Cecilia I have been blessed to have guests who are truly the 'cream of the crop'.

The Hawthorne District is a popular avant-garde neighborhood in Southeast Portland. With a distinctive personality it is known for both its quiet, charming neighborhoods and its energetic, funky retail district. Situated across the Willamette River from downtown it is only five minutes away by car or a fifteen minute walk via the Hawthorne Bridge.

Homes along the tree-lined streets are older craftsman and bungalow styles that are being restored to their original beauty. Hawthorne Boulevard is lined with bakeries, coffeehouses, boutiques, music and bookstores, micro-pubs, and restaurants, many with a bohemian flavor reminiscent of the 70's. A pedestrian-friendly outdoor retail/entertainment district, it offers a rich nightlife. Residents and visitors alike are seen walking the neighborhood at night for a casual stroll or enroute to their favorite restaurant or pub where outdoor seating keeps the Boulevard lively.

Location, location and comfort!

My husband and I recently stayed at the Cecelia. It was lovingly decorated, thoughtful in furnishing and centrally located to everything we wanted to see and do. Close to the bus line, bus #14 will take you up and down Hawthorne, or all the way downtown. Parking was easy and the streets in the neighborhood charming and safe. Would recommend this property to everyone. Joan was available by phone with any questions. Taking a nap on the porch with a cozy blanket was the perfect way to end our busy days. Our first vrbo....others will have a high standard to meet.

The condo is gorgeous! Very light, bright, cozy, and comfortable. I have been in several vrbo's and I will say that this house paid more attention to detail than any others I have been in. I felt that the furnishings were top notch and after a couple days was sure that a professional decorator had furnished the place. When I spoke with Joan (who was always available and so nice, friendly and accommodating!) she said that she had decorated the condo. This place is defintely within walking distance to some great restaurants and stores. I would definitely stay here again! A real gem!

Our stay at the Cecelia was amazing. We were so comfortable it felt like home. the bedding the kitchen the entire condo lived up to descriptions and so much more. It was so great to sit around the table share a meal with our adult daughters and play board games. It was great to sit in the living room and watch Christmas DVDs that Joan had left out. the place was decorated for Christmas, it was sweet to see my girls walk in and see gifts under the tree. The coffee shops, boutiques in the are (all walking distance ) great. A market right up the way for groceries for the week, convenient and economical. We will defiantly stay they when we visit again.
Such an amazing place, such a welcoming owner. thank you.

Our stay at the Cecilia exceeded our expectations. The flat was well furnished and well maintained and the kitchen was well stocked with every item necessary for serious cooking. It truly felt like home! We plan on returning next year.

Everything is very accurate in the description, and this was truly such a wonderful place to stay. Great location, beautiful decor, comfortable beds, she even provides robes and slippers. We didn't want to leave!
