An eclectic urban couple that loves the city but also enjoy getting away from it all.
Irvington has a special blend of charm and sophistication that is not often found in small towns. It's a fun and friendly place.
The town of Irvington is relaxing and laid back while still offering upscale amenities. We enjoy eating at local restaurants, sampling fresh local seafood, visiting vineyards, antiquing and the great outdoors. We live full time in an area where we can walk to everything and love that we can do the same in Irvington
Wonderful home with everything we needed for a lovely weekend. We
attended a wedding at the Tides Inn, and were able to walk to the
ceremony. The house was a great place to stay, without all the hassle
and noise of a hotel. The brick patio was a huge bonus as well. Stay
here, you won't regret it. -- posted by owner from Airbnb review.
It is with great trepidation that I write this review...simply because I want to keep this little gem to myself. Irvington is a lovely area to kick back relax and recharge. The blue house is simply a perfect place for that. Well appointed, charming and a great place to land for the weekend.
I recently returned from a week spent at this lovely cottage. Irvington is charming - loved the Dog and Oyster vineyard as well as the coffee shop downtown. There's so much to see and do and the cottage was a great place to "come home" to each day. Thanks, Laura for making our trip so memorable, I'll be back!
The Little Blue House has a great location in the middle of tiny downtown Irvington, Virginia. You can walk to the Tidewater Inn and to the Local, a great little coffee shop. The quiet streets of Irvington are a wonderful place to bike. I agree, though, with two former reviewers: the mattress in the master bedroom needs to be replaced, and it would be nice to have taller lamps for reading. Just be aware that the only shower is upstairs in the second bedroom. What we missed the most, though, was the lack of WiFi. We like to read the reviews and see the menus of local restaurants in the area. Over all, it was a relaxing, quiet place to spend a couple of days on the Northern Neck.
I reserved this house for my daughter and family during a family celebration and they loved it. It is so convenient and a very attractive house.
This place was just what we needed - a quiet and relaxing getaway. So glad we found this place. The owners are wonderful and provided us with just enough information so that we new what to check out in and around Irvington.
My family just returned from the most relaxing weekend we've had in a very long time and we're already looking at the calendar to see when we can go back. Irvington is a beautiful, peaceful town and this house was our favorite part. It is just darling. We spent the days exploring the area and pigging out on seafood. With our toddler snoozing away to the white noise of the window unit upstairs, our nights were spent on the patio. It's so peaceful there - just listening to the crickets and watching the trees light up with fire flies as the sun goes down. As stated in the description, the house isn't baby proofed. However, it is very tidy and, as long as we kept her away from the stairs and sockets, all our kid could get into were pots, pans and empty cabinets, all of which she loved. Like other reviews have said, Irvington is a sleepy town. Some restaurants have short hours too, so it's good to make use of the full kitchen and keep some food/drinks on hand.
There are several vineyards nearby -- one in Irvington, one in Kilmarnock and a few others a short drive away. The town of Kilmarnock (approx 7 minutes away) has several restaurants, shops, and entertainment. There are marinas and places to charter boats or rent kayaks and canoes, We are also approximately 30 minutes from Belle Isle State Park and Hughlett Point natural area preserve for hiking, biking, bird watching and water access.
