Overview

Bayfield Cabin Rental Photos and Description

One bedroom, 1 Bath, Living Room, Full Kitchen, 2 Decks, One Dog Can Stay Free

The cabin is located in a peaceful private setting. It sleeps two adults on a luxury queen bed. If you have kids - one could sleep on the couch (not pull out) and the other on a chaise lounger - or you could use a blow up mattress. 4 adults would be too much for the cabin. Cabin is really optimized for one couple.

Free use of Yukon Charlie snow shoes in the winter! Main snowmobile trail to Lake Superior right across the street! Plenty of room for your snowmobile and trailer (or boat trailer in the summer) in the driveway. XC and downhill skiing and at Mt Ashwabay. The amazing ice caves are only a few miles away!

Dog friendly - first dog stays for free! (If there is a 2nd dog - a $25/day extra rate applies -- the cabin isn't big enough for a couple of medium size dogs and up anyway) Beautiful private setting, with wrap around deck overlooking birch and pine trees in ravine. Flowing stream in spring.

Little Sand Bay beach is only a few miles away - and there is Meyers Beach, the beach in Cornucopia - or the beaches over on Madeline Island that you get to via ferry and bike rental (best to rent bike on Bayfield side.) Lots of sailing, hiking, biking, and artsy places in the Bayfield area. The new casino (Legendary Waters) is only ten minutes away.

The cabin was remodeled in 2012, and has a queen size Serta IComfort mattress with remote control for three levels of vibration. You can raise and lower head and feet. Includes Zero Gravity mode! There is a dresser and armoire in the bedroom along with a flat screen 'Smart' TV offering free movies via Amazon Prime and other apps. There is a full kitchen, granite counter tops, knotty cherry cabinets, knotty pine ceilings, quartzite walls, and wood stove.

Free Wifi and Sirius Satellite radio and Pandora stations! The music plays through the speakers in the living room from the Grace Digital Radio unit located in the bedroom.

You'll see more stars than you've ever seen at night - because the cabin is away from city lights. It is set back into birch and pine trees for a cozy feel. Bayfield is just a short 12 minute drive away - and the new Legendary Waters Casino is only 5 minutes away! Also just a couple minutes away is Little Sand Bay, where you can go kayaking and hiking.

About Rick Hauser

I'm related to the Hauser's who run the Hauser Farm (apples, flowers, berries, wine tasting and more) So - go check that out too!

Rick Hauser purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Rick Hauser chose Bayfield

There are so many great things to do in the Bayfield area - from artsy shops, to sailing, to mountain biking and hiking, seeing the sea caves or light houses, touring the Apostle Islands, and more. This location is nice and secluded - where you can see thousands of stars at night - but still be close enough to Bayfield to enjoy what the town has to offer (just a 12 minute drive)

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin is pet friendly, and gives you the peace and quiet you are looking for. Extremely private. Amazing new Queen Serta iCloud Savant bed with adjustable base with massage action and 'Zero G' via remote. Amazing display of white lights on pine trees in the forest in back (turn on via remote from bedroom). Free Amazon Prime movies and free Wifi, and Sirius or Pandora music in bedroom, living room, and back deck (selectable) Complimentary popcorn, coffee, chocolates - and even dog treats for your dog! You may see deer, black bear, bald eagles, foxes, and more. Certified Wildlife Habitat and Travel Wisconsin Green Certified. Fully upgraded in unique, peaceful, serene setting - for year round use. Amazing snow displays on the pine trees in the winter and driveway is plowed after each snow. Amazing fall colors.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We loved your cabin and the Bayfield area. Everything was very clean, and the cabin looks great. It made for a very relaxing stay. We hope to return next year. Thanks again!

We will be back!!

  • 5 of 5

This was by far the best vrbo we have ever booked! The booking was made easy by the owner, I was intimidated at first but the owner made it seem less. Our damage deposit back the same day we left by the time we arrived home.

Location was excellent for the areas attractions and secluded at the same time. Cabin was so clean, rustic yet modern. Stocked very well we wanted for nothing in the kitchen, bath or bedroom. Water from the faucet tasted clean and we are picky about our water! Our visit was in the winter and a summer and fall trip are a must.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your nice comments. My best compliment is a returning guest. One couple comes up every few months to make the cabin their home away from home because they feel comfy and don't have any distractions from their studies (can concentrate better) Hope to have you back soon! Sheer Beauty

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful cabin! Very cozy and made for the perfect romantic get away! Our Golden retriever enjoyed the trip too, especially snowshoeing, hiking and exploring the ice caves....sheer beauty! Then relaxing by the fire was a perfect way to end the winters day.

Owner's Response: Thanks :-) Glad you got to see the area and the amazing ice caves! The cabin is the closest lodging establishment in the Bayfield area to the caves so that can be pretty handy :-) Hope to have you back soon.

Beautiful, serene getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I escaped here for a Thanksgiving trip and should have booked a longer stay. Bayfield is an easy drive and so quiet in the winter. We ate at Maggie's and the Rittenshouse Inn, and stopped in at several local shops on Black Friday (no crazy crowds here!) The cabin has the best bed in the history of the world, amazing scenery outside all the windows, warm wood stove, and a well-stocked kitchen. Rick is meticulous and pays attention detail, meaning your stay will be easy and without trouble (he came up the weekend before to decorate with Christmas lights and bring in firewood. The bed had chocolates on it when we arrived!) Conserving water and energy makes sense, and staying the Great North Woods reminds you to be more mindful of that. Getting away from the hustle and bustle of the world is so easy here: no cell service, white snowy roads, and softly falling snow. We brought board games and puzzles (and even played a few games that Rick has in the hutch). Worth every penny for a super relxing stay. We only hope Rick will let us come back to share his wonderful cabin again soon!

Owner's Response: Thanks Stefanie! I check the little details now and then to make sure everything is perfect for folks so they can relax. Every time I visit - I try to think of new things I can add to make it better and better 😄 Yes / pretty easy drive from IL even thought 8 hrs. Wish I could stay longer myself when I go! 😄. Glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to have you back soon! Very very pretty and romantic with the snow there - like a Currier and Ives post card. Maybe your next visit should be for the amazing fall colors next year 😄. Rick

Nice house; misleading description; loud neighbors; no beach access; too many rules

  • 3 of 5

This Bayfield cabin is lovely. It is perfect for a couple. It has a well-stocked kitchen, great views of the woods, and is well appointed. However, there is just one bedroom/bed. This property sleeps 2, not 4 as the description claims. Upon arrival we understood the leather couch and a roomy armchair with ottoman in the living room were supposed to be for sleeping. Evenings were beautiful (though punctuated by the neighbors shooting off rounds of ammunition and teenagers next door tearing around next door on their ATVs.) Down the road, some guys decorated their yard van with "NO TRESPASSING" in large red paint. The description implies the cabin as access to Raspberry Bay beach, which it does not. Annoying also was the 40-page booklet of rules, underscoring the need to conserve water. It was stressful to be SO VERY MINDFUL of every drop of water we used, due not to drought, but the fact that it is expensive for the owner to empty the holding tank. There is a camcorder trained on the holding tank that intermittently relays pictures of the tank, but also has a good view of the driveway, which was creepy. For the price, which is quite high, and we were pretty disappointed.

Owner's Response: I always tell anyone wanting to rent the cabin if they are a party of 4 (as I told this person) that the cabin is optimized for two people – not four. There is no mis-representation. Prior to her stay – I e-mailed her “On the web site (and guide) it states that cabin sleeps 2 on a queen bed – and any other people --- one would sleep on leather couch – and the other on chaise lounger (kid for example – for longer person – could put leather foot stool at end of chaise lounger) Extra sheets & pillows are provided for the extra two. Or you could use a blow up mattress – and push the chaise lounger back a bit for some space for that.” The presence of the holding tank cam is also noted in the guide. I reference it about once a week to see if the tank is full. I have no “neighbors” on either side of the cabin (there are woods to left and to the right – a football field size parcel of grass and then more woods – and just woods in back) – so I’m not sure what neighbors she is talking about. The cabin (as you can see from other peoples comments) is in a very private and quiet setting. In all my time there (and others) - it is extremely quiet. I’ve never heard ATV’s or gun shots – though one night a few years ago - I heard a pair of raccoons fighting :-) There are no neighbors across the street either – other than an old couple down the road a few hundred feet who are very quiet. I’m not sure what “van down the street” she is talking about – but any property owner can put whatever they want to on their property or truck as far as I’m concerned. I am not sure how that is relevant. Perhaps she tried to explore the property with the no-trespassing sign. She certainly asked for the farm on early check in and late check out among other things. I took out reference to the local beach this summer – because the path to the beach was turned into a conservation area so it is harder to reach the beach than it used to be, but still possible. If she had read the guide as I suggested – she would have seen that it was not easy to get to anymore. She also asked me other questions that were already explained in the guide – and I had to keep telling her “read the guide.” In the guide I recommend that people go to the beaches at Little Sand Bay which is only a few miles away, or Meyers Beach, or beaches on Madeline Island. In the guide, I reference a number of things that people can do in the area, and how to operate many features. Just typical cabin rules.

Great get away!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for four nights in August, had a lovely time. The cabin is beautiful with modern amenities and tucked into the woods. Every morning we had breakfast on the porch listening to wildlife. Bbq'd steaks one night and had a fire- amazing star gazing. Great location-close to the lake, Bayfield, and the sea caves. I would definitely recommend Hausers Cabin!

Owner's Response: Thanks Michelle! Yes - the stars are like nothing else at the cabin! Milky Way and beyond :-) The Star Walk app is pretty cool for knowing what you are looking at.
