ESCAPE THE CITY AND IMMERSE YOURSELF IN THE SIMPLE PLEASURES OF THIS OCEANFRONT CABIN WITH CHARACTER.
Lots of charm in this sweet cozy cabin nestled between the woods and the water. Get reconnected with nature, exploring the miles of soft sand stone shoreline and the tide pools or walking the country roads.
Fall asleep to the sound of the ocean, and wake up to the sunrise over the straight of Georgia, with Mount Baker Views. Whether it’s reading a book by the fire, soaking up the sun or enjoying a game of bacci ball on the huge lawn, the ocean is right there. Napping in the hammock is also a favorite past time.
The cabin's interior has lovingly evolved over time, with an eclectic mix ensuring a mood of an era gone by. There's an open floor plan for living, dining and cooking. The master bedroom (queen) has double doors to a small deck as well as a lovely window seat. The loft sleeps 2-4, perfect for guests or kids, and there's a double pull-out sofa in the living room. The Cabin can sleep 8 (but more comfortably, 2-4).
A large oceanfront deck spans the width of the cabin. Dine outdoors on a large picnic table logged from the property that seats 12. Indoor dining seats 4-6.

Two aker wood saved our sanity. The place is quaint, rustic, eclectic and absolutely perfect. We stayed with our 3 (under 7 kids) and had plenty of room. On day one we were ecstatic about seeing seals... by the end of our stay it was like ..."O' those things again." We spent the days watching a pod of Orcas 100 yards off the patio, Bald eagles soaring above, woodpeckers eating in the trees, riding bikes around the island, exploring the beaches, playing soccer on the lawn. Evenings by the fire reading, playing games, doing puzzles and genuinely reconnecting as a family. My wife did yoga on the deck in the mornings in the peace and serenity of the ocean. The kids played in the treehouse, counted the brass mice (14???) collected shells, played in the tide pools out front. We ended the nights watching the lights of Vancouver in the distance over a bottle of wine. Everything was very adequate for our stay. It was my sons birthday while we were here and his wish was that he wanted to go out for crab. In April, only 2 restaurants are open in the evening and one closed at 5 because not enough reservations. So the kind owner of the Galiano Inn called around the island and found us a local man with a full bucket of crabs delivered to our door for $20.00.. which back in Alberta would be well over $100 worth. Absolutely made his day. We would wholeheartedly recommend this place as a great little getaway to turn off your brain and unwind. If you ever add a television, it would ruin the tranquility that this place offers. Small issue with the internet but not the host fault... a prior renter played with the settings, it was easily resolved. All in all it was a perfect stay. I am worried that a good review will limit our ability to book again ;) I was tempted to state that this was the worst place ever, but that would be a bold faced lie and wouldnt do it the justice it deserves.
My wife and I spent the week immediately after labour day at Two Aker Wood and found it to be absoluting wonderful. It did not hurt that the weather was warm and sunny the entire time. we brought our big old dog and our daughter came to visit from Vancouver for a couple of days. The cabin is a little smaller than it appears in the pictures but it was cosy. The deck overlooking the roack beach is devine, as is the actual beach. There is also a large grassy area with lots of sunlight. The property faces NE, so you have amazing views of Vancovuer and the mainland, however, the sun does disappear later in the day, especially on the deck. The cabin is well appointed with all you need for cooking, etc. The wood stove gives off LOTS of heat and the furniture is comfortable. My wife found the bed mattress a bit too firm, but I thought it was okay. Overall a wonderful experiences and I would recommend it to anyone for a romatic get away or just some good ol R&R.
A perfect stay, the house has everything you need for a relaxing Holiday. With breathtaking views to the ocean, the mountains, Vancouver, sunsets, and the garden. The house was in a perfect condition and easy to find. We were there with 4 persons, 2 adults and two tall boys. We even had some deer in the garden and watched many birds even close by!
Don't forget to walk some trails if you are around! But many hours will go by, while you'll just watch, listen, watch and so on!
I would like to recommend this home to anyone who's looking for a quiet and natural environment!
Oh, even a IPod-Iphone docking station is available for playing your favorite music!
First you should have a good idea about the island itself.
Galiano is not like the Sunshine Coast or Salt Spring Island ... it's a bit sleepier and a bit like stepping back in time (think '60s). Couple general stores and a pub, laundromat, bakery and few restaurants, and that's about it.If you are good with this pace, then place is for you.
Great place to eat, sleep, read, nap, take walks along the ocean, and play Scrabble.
Turns out you are just at the edge of cell range (this may be good or bad - depending on your point of view), and there is no WIFI (again, may be good or bad)- there is a hard line phone however.
The cottage itself is a fantastic little getaway.
Right on the ocean with a deck overlooking the watter. Cute kitchen, with eating area, a nice living room with a wood burning stove. .The sofa pulls out into a bed to sleep a couple more if you need it.
Nicely appointed with everything you need for a comfy stay.
Great bedroom with balcony and lots of light.
Fresh new bathroom with shower.
If you are planning a longer stay, know you have to do laundry at the local laundromat.
Big open field for whatever you want to do and a couple of hammocks to just lie around.
Bring a couple books, some wine and plan some great meals.
One of my favourite places to just decompress.
Can't say enough good things about this property. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights over the May long weekend and could not have been more surprised on many fronts. Its quick and easy to get to from Vancouver. And the pictures are lovely but don't do the experience justice.
The cabin is rustic/elegant in that the owner has done a complete renovation, but the charm of a cozy, off the grid experience remains.
The bonuses...a new kitchen, an amazing new bathroom (right out of Restoration Hardware) and a gorgeous master bedroom. We spent long hours just sitting on the deck looking out over the ocean because its literally right there. We got to catch up over morning coffees, and evening cocktails - such a rare treat. There's plenty of places to nap (another rare treat) like the loft or the hammock. There wasn't wifi when we were there but the owner said it was coming.
The best part is that its much cheaper than a hotel but you get so much more. I think we may have been the first ones to book with this property...so I'm not sure how long those rates will last.
Overall, a great experience. There's a general store on the way from the ferry, a produce store that has the best date squares on the planet, and a liquor store too. The Galiano Inn has an amazing outdoor restaurant that serves up wood fired pizzas and the food cart next to the liquor store (The Barking Dog I think its called) has unbelievable food plus, you get to hang with the locals for a very interesting Galiano experience.
We've booked again for July and are looking forward to a longer stay...but I'm thinking it would also be great for a girls weekend.
I've traveled to this cozy cabin multiple times during all seasons but thought I would write a review of what it's like during the winter months since, let's be honest, we get more of those on the West Coast.
I went to Two Acre Wood with my boyfriend in late December. While for obvious reasons, this cabin is ideal in the summer months (use of the beach, sun, etc), we absolutely loved using it in the winter time. The smell of rain and the low lighting outside made for an ideal "love nest" inside. Laying by the fire with a glass of wine and full belly while listening to the rain gently fall on the tin roof, and you'll soon be lulled to sleep in each others arms. You can bundle up and have a walk down the road like we did, and when you get back- all rosy cheeked- hop in the amazing oversize bath tub. As far as entertainment in the winter? A cupboard full of games provides hours of laughs and entertainment for everyone (Scrabble, Kerplunk, puzzles, Monopoly, etc). You also may want to burn a few CD's and do a little dancing.
I hope this review helped for this thinking of taking the owner up on the Winter month's deals!
