6th Arrondissement St Germain des Pres Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 3-4)

This Jewel of a Pre-Haussmanian, Left Bank/St-Germain apartment is located just minutes from the Jardin du Luxembourg, La Sorbonne, Place St-Michel, Place Odéon--all the best the Latin Quarter has to offer!

The building has a Royal history, and the architectural details are astonishing. You'll feel like you've stepped back in time, as you push open the enormous, and heavy, 1800's carved, double entrance doors of the building, and enter the historic, cobbled courtyard with water fountain. The building is Historic, yes, but you'll also enjoy all the best of modern amenities--elevator, cable TV, High-speed Internet, WIFI, Free long distance phone calls.

Located on the 4th floor with elevator, the apartment's grand windows look out over a courtyard, quietly contemplative, and conducive to a deep sleep. The floor to ceiling, oak double doors throughout the apartment, especially in the beautiful, oval shaped salon, and original parquet floors are a delight for the eyes. The list of notable architectural features of this 54M2 (550 square feet) apartment is long and rich.

The kitchen, which can be closed off from the dining area and salon by double glassed doors, is spacious and well equipped, and large enough for a bar with 2 stools for your morning café & croissant. The dining area, with a table and

4 chairs, is accented by a one-of-a- kind, rod iron chandelier with perched birds, by the artist Lieu.

The Spectacular Oval shaped salon has a double sofa bed, and 2 rare antique arm chairs once owned by a well-known political agitator, whose historic papers grace the wall behind the antique desk.

You enter through the office and bedroom area, which has a large double bed and alcove features, reminiscent of France's glorious past. The antique desk in the bedroom, bathed by the light from the large window, is a perfect spot to address postcards to friends and family at home.

The bathroom is roomy and modern with walk-in shower, clear blue sink, modern towel rack, parquet floors and window.

The neighborhood is St-Germain Chic, Left Bank Bohemian, Jardin du Luxembourg & Sorbonne Grand! The choice of Cafés and Restaurants is vast, and the Open Markets are a must see.

The apartment is surronded by Metro stations --Odéon, Cluny La Sorbonne, St-Michel and Mabillon, and the RER B, from the Charles de Gaulle Airport, goes right to the St-Michel-Notre Dame station, minutes from the apartment.

You'll feel at home, and Oh-so-Parisian, in this jewel of a

Fantastic stay! Great place

  • 5 of 5
L'Odéon is the perfect apartment in the St Germain/Luxembourg area on a quiet street close to all the action. My husband and I stayed here for eight days and had a perfect time. The property managers were amazing, there was some construction going on in the courtyard and they worked with us (offering to move us, which we opted out of) and were very detailed about everything. The construction didn't bother us at all, but we were glad they let us know before we arrived. The bedroom area is quiet, and the separate living room was superb. There was plenty of closet space, I saw one review below and I think there must have been something wrong with him because I hung my things in the armoire and the regular closet without incident. There was also a cabinet in bedroom to lay out folded clothes. The kitchen was very big and well stocked with the gadgets you'd need for your vacation. I cannot recommend this apartment highly enough. Absolutely perfect stay!

Great apartment and location!

  • 5 of 5
My friend and I stayed at L'Odeon (rental 360930) for six nights in July, 2014 and found the apartment and location wonderful! We were within a ten minute walk of Notre Dame, St. Chapelle, the Seine , the Luxembourg Gardens,Rue Buci ( an area with shops and sidewalk cafes) as well as the bus stop and boat stop. The apartment was very well furnished, comfortable beds (even the pull out couch) and had a washing machine and full kitchen. We can highly recommend the neighborhood also as the Sorbonne is right across the street. The Latin Quarter is definitely the area to select for an apartment and we felt we were staying in an old castle' living quarters because of the unique curved walls, the carved molding and the wonderful classic paint colors. We had cool weather but floor fans are provided and the windows open so we had nice ventilation and I don't think you would need air conditioning which it not available. Steven met us at the apartment when we checked in and gave us a tour not only of the apartment but the surrounding neighborhoods. He was wonderful and extremely helpful when we were there but also prior to our arrival. Use the recommended car service to get to the airport, not a taxi, as they are difficult to find and very expensive. Most of all enjoy your visit!

Dark, decrepit and not prepared for guests

  • 1 of 5
This flat looked beautiful and has a glowing description. The location is wonderful, and that cannot be criticized. The flat, however, is not all that is boasted about in the description. The main problem is, as a part of a larger flat that has been partitioned off, and that is still filled with the owner's personal belongings, there is no place (no drawers, only a small wardrobe) for the guests to unpack and store their belongings. All potential chests are locked and/or filled with the owner's belongings, including personal papers, expired passports, and even some rare fountain pens. A closet, containing hanging space and a chest of drawers, which we were told near the end of our visit was available for us, proved to be locked and was in the living room, not the bedroom. End result, we had no choice but to leave our open suitcases in the potentially attractive living room, completely spoiling it and preventing us from inviting guests over. Strangely, the bedroom is the room one enters first. The photo on the website shows a curtain which can be drawn hiding the bed, but this had long since disappeared. In the bathroom, the advertised rain shower, was not operable due to the diverter handle having been broken (according to the agent, just prior to our arrival--but on a weekday, presumably a plumber could be called in). The remaining hand spray had to be held aloft with one hand while one attempted to clean oneself with the other hand. The shower had no soap dish or shelf to place shampoos, etc. except for one high shelf sloped so that everything fell off. Windows and shutters are virtually in splinters, and have been left to "deferred maintenance", even though those of the neighbors seem to be in better condition. Here is a case, we imagine, of a venerable and distinguished family in grand digs, perhaps down on its luck, needing to generate some revenue by renting to guests, but not prepared to make even modest simple improvements to make a stay here as comfortable and as pleasant as promised in the write-up. One hopes with this feedback, these steps might be taken! Krystyna, the employee of the agency handling the flat was extremely helpful and friendly. The owners of the agency seemed more defensive than helpful or apologetic when the above concerns were raised early on in our stay.

Owner's Response: This guest reserved for 4 nights, and was determined to be dissatisfied, no matter our sincere efforts. We allowed him an early arrival with greeter, waiving normal fees, and agreed to a late departure, again - no charge.

Our coordinator personally gave him the tour. The large, double door closest in the living room (large enough for a chest of drawers), was indicated.

He sent an e-mail the next day, unhappy there was no closet.
We responded immediately, reminding him about the closet's location, and also offered to prepare a secondary cabinet in the bedroom. He replied with photo of clothes in living room, with closet in background blocked by large arm chair.
Did he not want to use the closet?

He expressed disappointment in review at not being able to invite guests to enjoy,
"the potentially attractive living room, " because of his exposed belongings(and the closet?). We are confused how the apartment can be described as, "dark" or "decrepit", and be attractive as well?

The walk-in shower has a hand held, shower nozzle, on a hose, with a wall bracket, standard in Parisian apartments, and hotels.
The overhead, rain head was missing the handle, broken during the last guests' stay. We apologized, but felt calling a plumber, and disturbing the guest while water was shut off, for the superfluous rain option, was unnecessary during short stay.
The entire shower unit, hand held nozzle and rain head have since been replaced.

The shutters on the windows, looking over the calm courtyard, are permanently attached to the rear facade, and can only been seen if one leans dangerously outside. They are not offered for guests' use, and light blocking drapes adorn the large windows.

He made many references to American hotels, in his lengthy correspondences during his short stay, never mentioning the incredible oval shaped living room, large dining area, spacious kitchen, bedroom, office area, historic details, quiet courtyard, everything a hotel could never offer in Paris, and all in Paris' best neighborhood.

We realize now, this apartment was not a good fit for this guest. We regret not having directed him towards a hotel, or one of our more modern units, with less authentic Parisian features, to better fit his need for familiar, American hotel style lodging while traveling abroad.

STAY HERE!

  • 5 of 5
Just stay here. Location is perfect; metro is one block and we took it everywhere. It's also a block and a half from rue de St. Germain and a little bit further is a the rue de Buci which is FULL of cafes and bakeries. Not to mention you're a block or two from the Jardin de Luxembourg. The neighborhood is super clean and safe. If you're worried about central location and safety this is your place. The apartment is perfect for two (we were on our honeymoon) and makes you feel at home. I did not feel I was doing without any amenities I'm used to in the states. Bathroom and kitchen were clean and worked as they should. shower is really clean, too! There's an elevator so you don't have to haul anything upstairs. Wifi works great. The landlords are incredibly nice and accommodating as well!!! And they are English-speaking so you don't have to worry about getting lost in translation. If you book it you won't be sorry!

Good location some updates needed

  • 4 of 5
My husband and I stayed here for two weeks in June and enjoyed the fact that it was so central, yet very quiet. The apartment is clean, spacious and has a well equipped kitchen which we made good use of.
Unfortunately the main double bed isn't comfortable for 2 people, the mattress has big dip in the middle so we had to use the sofa bed instead.
The bathroom is small which isn't a problem; but the noisy squeaky door definitely needs fixing and better privacy screening on the bathroom window would be nice.
If these issues were fixed we would recommend a stay here.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5
This was a perfect location and larger than I expected. Loved the building, beds were very comfortable and we could walk to anywhere, or catch the metro easily, of which 2 stops are very nearby. Lots of restaurants, shopping, and anything else you need. Very clean, and would stay here again, no problem. Thanks Krystyna, you were wonderful. I stayed here with a friend and to meet up with 4 other women on a Paris holiday without husbands. Highly recommend.
