About The Owner

We have always loved log homes and built our first log home in 1992 in Colorado. When we found this log home in 1996, we loved it so much we moved inm permanently in 1998 and remained until 2010. Not wanting to sell our log home, we decided on VRBO because we had heard of so many wonderful experiences with VRBO property rentals from friends and family. Our prayer is that many familys can enjoy the relaxing and refreshing experience our log home offers.

The Owner purchased this estate in 1996
Why The Owner chose Horseshoe Bay

Our family has been in the Hill Country area since 1952. In 1995 we were driving in Oak Ridge Estates and stopped to watch someone feeding a herd of deer out of her hand! We learned from her that the home next door to her was for sale! We bought 102 Pecan Creek Drive in January 1996. We came to our new log home on the weekends from our home in The Woodllands, TX, for two years, until we moved to log home in June of 1998. Our now grown, three older children grew up here, living on lake LBJ, enjoying all the fun and beauty. In 2010 we moved to Lake Marble Falls, and still enjoy visiting our log home on Lake LBJ when we are not renting it out.

Great house for family and lake access

We stayed at Bryan and Kathy's house for a week and it was a great time. Bryan was very accomodating and made sure that we had everything we needed for the week, even returning with shampoo and toilet paper one day. They make sure you are taken care of.

The house has plenty of room for a large group, we had 8 adults and 2 children and there was room for more if we would have needed it in the bunk room. The kitchen was well supplied, but our favorite part of cooking was the smoker. We smoked a brisket, ribs, and salmon over the week which turned out excellent since the smoker held heat perfectly.

My daughter loved feeding the deer in the back yard (I recommend hitting Tractor Supply store and buying a bag of deer corn for $8)....she even got to pet one on the head. Bryan let us put our boat in the lift which worked great. There was even room to tie up a 2nd fishing boat. The water in the back of the cove is a little stagnent (you wouldn't want to go swimming there) but you can get out to open water in just a quick 1 minute boat ride.

Overall, this was a great place to stay. We'd definitely consider coming back here again and it would be a great place for any group looking to have some fun on Lake LBJ.

Great home and great location

We took our girl scout troop to this home and had a wonderful experience with them. The house is wonderful, big, kid friendly, clean and in a very peaceful culdesac Lots and lots of deer.. The owners were so incredible in taking care of us and our needs. We will make this an annual trip and loved creating many great memories. Thanks Kathy, Brian and Valerie for being so kind and welcoming!

Property was not clean, bugs alive and dead were found throughout house. There was a dirty towel hanging on the bathroom door and trash in the trashcan when we arrived. This property is not actually waterfront, it sits at the end of a canal.
Owner's Response: Guest arrived early, before scheduled check in time and cleaning was not yet complete. Guest did not pay for the rental, and stiffed us for the holiday weekend. This was Memorial Weekend, and our anniversary of one year with VRBO. We feel it is unfair for a guest to arrive early, cancel the reservation, and write a negative review without staying or paying! Our property actually IS waterfront, 91 feet to be exact. It is NOT at the end of a canal. It is in a private and protected, quiet cove, and is only 100 yards from open water. We forgive this guest for writing a negative review.

Fun family getaway

My family and I had a wonderful time at this home, and received wonderful assistance and service from the owners. The house was roomy enough for all 11 of us and had good access to the water. We grilled out and roasted marshmellows, laid out in the backyard while the kids played on the swingset and in the huge yard, and we enjoyed all of the deer that came around. Overall, a very fun and relaxing week was spent here. Thank you!

My daughter's wedding was held May 12th at the Marriott. With all the family coming into town for this wedding(12 overnighters -- 10 more for a pre-wedding house reception), I decided to rent a house rather than pay for hotel rooms. I believe we saved 50% lodging expense by making this decision. Besides saving $$, our decision to stay in Kathy's and Bryan's home was huge. Not only was it perfect for all our family requirements but Kathy and Bryan were accommodating and personable. They ensured that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Thanks much to them and we highly recommend their home.
