I am a woman 48 years old who loves Paris and my area. I have a son of 14 years old who goes to a college nearby.
I work in real estate as a flat hunter and enjoy traveling and shoping and theater.
sybil folch purchased this apartment in 1997
I grew up in this neighbourhood and find no Place in Paris where i feel home like in the 6th. Even 30 years later. It feels like a village to me and at the same time i still love to see the beauty of Paris monuments and bridges.
The Luxembourg Garden has always been a gift for me to raise a child. It allows him to meet his friends there any time after shool. Everything is nearby, restaurants, theater, shops, cinemas, tennis and i often stay around for most of the things i do.
My husband, 2 children and I spent 4 nights at this quiet little apartment nestled away in Rue Du Dragon. The location is superb. The beds were comfortable and the room was very quiet. A 10 minute walk to the Seine. Great restaurants and shops all around, if you don't mind spending a small fortune. Beautiful for a stroll. 5 minutes from Luxembourg Gardens. Kitchen well equipped for cooking, but stove a little difficult to use. Loved the artwork on the walls. We had a great time staying at this apartment.
This is my 3rd review for Sybil's wonderful apartment, from staying 3 years in a row. See other reviews below. My adult daughter and I ended up staying here again this year 2014 and was so happy Sybil was able to accommodate us. It felt just like home, like our own neighborhood in the lovely Saint Germain. Will definitely stay again next year. Homey, comfortable, roomy, secure, fantastique location, central to everything. Oh, and I forgot to mention in the other reviews that the wifi is excellent! Thanks Sybil! To all negative reviewers: If you want a spotless hotel room, you should get one, but for this kind of spaciousness it will be twice the price, less secure, and have no washer or kitchen, probably spotty wifi.
Stayed in Paris recently with my 11month old son and my husband. My brother in law spend one night with us as well before flying back home.
Location of this apartment is perfect. Right in the heart of st Germain but tucked in in nice little street.
It had nice quiet courtyard.
The apartment itself is on the top floor of very french building (no lift and narrow and slightly uneven stairway).
It is made up of two rooms and a kitchenette, bathroom and separate toilet.
The living room recently had floors done which looked nice. The bedroom has old stained carpets that are long due for replacement.
The owner left us towels to use, we didn't end up using them as they were very Very old and looked more like sandpaper.
The bathroom/shower had blockage problem, water wasn't draining well so as you are showering it was all collecting in the bathtub.
There're is also HUGE beam that is right next to shower head, so if you are taller then 170cm you WILL bang your head.
The toilet is on the other side of the apartment with no sink. So you use the toilet then walk through entire place to go and wash your hands.
The bedroom had futon that was ok for comfort.
The bedroom door however didn't lock! Well there was uneven space ranging from 2cm to about 10, with small baby trying to keep him out of trouble that was an issue for me.
The kitchen, I didn't actually end up using the cooktop so can't comment much.
But there were hardly any plates, and the ones that were there needed a clean from dust.
We could only find one glass so ended up using yogurt cups instead.
Cutlery draw is a chaos, it's basically just all dumped into one.
The owner has been very good communication wise, we had late flight out of CDG so she allowed us to have late checkout, I appreciate that given small baby.
Once again location is great. Owner was very easy to deal with, apartment was good size, but would I stay there again- NO. I would rather pay a little extra and get something cleaner.
This very eclectic apartment was good for my family with 3 teenagers. Sybil was good to deal with leading up to our dates. She met us at our designated time and made sure we were comfortable with the details of the flat. The washer was useful and she provided the soap which wasn't expected! I would say the kitchen needs more drinking glasses for convenience, and the oven, although the 2 working burners were sufficient, should be fixed to be able to be used. We dropped by the Monoprix just around the corner for groceries everyday and would have liked to use the oven. In a safe feeling neighbourhood, Saint Germain is close to everything. Although we used the metro every day, we could walk to Notre Dame Cathedral easily and it took us 20 minutes to walk to the Eiffel tower. We felt safe at whatever time we returned at night. For the price and location, we were satisfied and made the apartment work for us. We felt like locals in a typical top floor sky light lit apartment. It was a comfortable place to rest our heads after hours of touring beautiful Paris!
This apartment is the best value in Saint Germain, very comfortable and homey. A private good-sized bedroom, huge living room, compact kitchen with everything you need, shower room separate from small toilet room which I find convenient when staying with others. My daughter and I stayed here last year 2013 for 2 weeks, May 17th - June 2nd. I stayed in another apartment of Sybil's the year before for 11 nights in May 2012, and that review can be found below still attached to this different apartment, that one was on Rue d'Assas, the attic apartment with a small distant view of Tour Eiffel, so I apologize for any confusion that might cause when renting this one. This apartment on Rue du Dragon has no elevator and is on the 3rd (top) floor (4th for Americans), so there is quite a trek upstairs if you have heavy luggage; the other apartment I rented the previous year had an elevator. But I like going upstairs, helps me wear off all those crepes and croissants I eat while in Paris, haha. This apartment is roomy and while not spotless, is much neater than the Rue d'Assas one, it allows one to feel as if they live in Paris, however temporarily, unlike hotels that remind you continually that you are merely a guest in this amazing city. It is perfectly located with cafes, shops, and croissants just out the secure front door, and more cafes, Monoprix, and BNP ATM just a short walk. Everything feels close and we walked almost everywhere, and took a few trains and a taxis from close metro stations and taxi stands. It is walking distance (for people who like to walk) to Gare Montparnasse which we used on some day and overnight trips so that was convenient, or you can hop on the metro. But, the more time you spend underground on trains the more you miss of this magnifique city just wandering through. Both years we walked everywhere and discovered many things we never read about in guidebooks or online. Study maps and wear comfortable shoes and it's easy to walk around Paris. I walked from this apartment to Parc Monceau, not a short distance, but so enjoyable and full of discovery. The only reason I am not staying in this Rue du Dragon apartment in 2014 is because I'm visiting so much of France and Spain, spending only 3 nights in Paris, so am staying in a hotel rather than ask the very wonderful Sybil to accommodate us since she does ask a 4 night minimum. Hotels in Saint Germain are so expensive that we are staying in Le Marais instead, but I do so love Saint Germain.
The location of this property is very nice, and quiet. We felt very secure no matter what time we went out. It is centralize and very convenient to get to most tourist attractions.
However, the only problem I had was with the owner, Sybil. The first day we arrived she demanded that all the days to be paid for immediately. Inspite of the listing stating that the remainder could be paid for the following day. The listing photo DID NOT accurately reflect the rentals appearance. We weren't sure if we were in the right appointment. It was not only dirty but there was a comforter underneath the sofa bed that reeked of urine. We were charged a cleaning fee which was not mentioned beforehand. When we tried to address these issues with her she became very adamant.
If you choose to use this place I would suggest you keep a copy of any agreements and have them on hand and review them with her before you pay her anything.
