Set in one of the world’s most beautiful cities we are located so close to the The Sydney Opera House, The Harbour Bridge, Barangaroo, Anzac Bridge, Darling Harbour, and Casino, Aquarium, Chinatown & Sydney’s CBD. Balmain today is one of Sydney’s’ most sought after Inner City Habourside locations with an enviable, friendly family village lifestyle.
Formally a waterfront working man’s suburb, Balmain now has a gentrified village atmosphere with highly sought after real estate due to its traditional Victorian Terrace houses, cottages and proximity to the City. It also boasts some of Sydney’s finest views. By Australian standards, Balmain is steeped in history as it is one of Sydney’s and Australia’s first settlement suburbs.
Our property is architecturally redesigned, a decorated Victorian house positioned between Hampton Villa and Ewenton House, two of Balmain’s finest historic mansions. It has it’s own unique Italian inspirations with its Ochre Tuscan lime washed garden walls mounted by young espaliered fruit trees and the unique Positano inspired rooftop terrace and pergola topped by Bouganvillea, to offer both flowers and shade during your daytime summer alfresco dining or while lazing in the hammock. Lights at night make it just as enjoyable without the need to seek relief in the shade but to delight in the joy of the City night lights or Sydney’s world famous Summer fireworks. A wood fired Pizza oven is located in the garden. Inside there‘s a sophisticated colour palette, traditional style furnishings, polished Kauri and Baltic Pine floorboards throughout, high 12’ ceilings, and tasteful design features. The buffed and polished terracotta tiled kitchen floor is complemented by a large family kitchen which has generous white Carrara Marble bench tops and is well equipped with electric appliances, dishwasher, full upright refrigerator/ freezer, cast iron gas stove and oven with rustic tables and a massive Dresser at its heart. Bifold doors open to one of four external entertaining area and Garden. All bases are covered here because this is the heart of, not just one, but two passionate cook’s. Many fresh organic herbs and vegetables are always ready and available from the garden which of course is on an automatic watering system. You are welcome to use any of the food and spices we leave in the pantry at no extra charge. All of the staples will be there, bonus when you first arrive.
The house is fully furnished including hotel quality white linen and towels, china, glassware, flatware and cookware. Set on two levels, three, if you count the rooftop terrace. On the ground level is the kitchen, a combined pantry and laundry with WC, then the formal dining room and elegant living/lounge room with French doors leading on to a front patio with unobstructed City and Habour views. Both rooms have white Carrara marble surround fire places fueled by Natural Gas. Upstairs are the 3 bedrooms each furnished traditionally and complemented with original brass bed. There is an ensuite bathroom off the rear bedroom. Both front and rear bedrooms have sizable wrap around balconies offering extensive views to The Sydney Harbour Bridge, The Anzac Bridge, Darling Harbour and the Sydney City skyline itself with cruise liners berthing directly opposite the house. In summer you can expect some relief from the heat at about 11 am each day as the cross breezes arrive off Sydney Harbour.
In the event that you love the sound of this house but need another bedroom for the Nanny, teenager, parent or grandparent who prefer their own space but you need them safe and close at hand, we can help here too as the house does have a stunning self-contained unit (separate rental : VRBO ref 360717) that can be combined with the house rental or as a stand-alone option. If this sounds like it fits your requirements you would need to bring it to our attention so we could negotiate its inclusion during your stay.
PLEASE NOTE. If you wish to have the house to yourself and for us NOT to rent the studio to a third party you must inform us prior to confirming your booking. There is a common garden and entry. Your rate would be adjusted by negotiation.

After our Melbourne Relocation agent let us down, I found this charming home and dealt directly with the helpful owners. Balmain location and property was a perfect introduction to Sydney for our family. After 4 weeks we did not want to leave! We highly recommend staying in this gorgeous, comfortable home. The area is friendly, great for walks, many parks, restaurants, lots of young families, & water views at every turn & from every room in the house. We'll be sure to return to Balmain during our 3 year stay in Sydney & are grateful to you both for helping us settle in & making us feel so welcome. see you for coffee again soon.
What a fabulous stay! Beautiful, clean and spacious 3 bedroom condo with 2 amazing decks to have your meals on and enjoy the view of Sydney harbour! Perfect location in suburb of Balmain - just a 5 minute walk to the convenient Sydney ferries (and then just a 5 min very pleasurable ferry ride to Sydney harbour). You definitely don't need a car - Sydney's ferry/train/bus system is fantastic.
Every amenity you can think of has been provided by Lyn and Giacomo - every kitchen item you can think of, beautiful wooden kitchen table, fans in every room, towels, washer/dryer, iPhone recharger/player (remember your converter if coming from N America!) etc. We especially loved the two decks where we enjoyed our breakfast and dinners while enjoying the view. Grocery store less than 10min walk and if you prefer eating out, then plenty of restaurants nearby which looked great.
I would highly recommend this condo if you are visiting Sydney.
Lyn and Giacomo were also very accommodating and allowed us to check in early and check out late because of our flight times which was much appreciated.
We had an excellent stay at the house! Plenty of space. Very quiet, nice surroundings and a great view over the city. Walking distance to ferry which took us to the city centre. Possibility to leave the car outside the building and use bus or ferry for transport. The hosts, Giacomo and Lyn are very friendly, nice social persons.
Gorgeous period home with absolutely every amenity you could want. house & studio very comfortable with plenty of space for 8. Giacomo was great to deal with, communication prompt & informative. Highly recommended this property for a stay of any length.
Giacomo and Lyn were the perfect hosts having accommodated us at the last minute they ensured we were armed with everything we needed to enjoy their home and Sydney throughout our stay. The home was lovely, filled with character and comfort relative to the Sydney lifestyle. Every member of the family on the first encounter with the roof top terrace went "WOW" at the view over the bay to the city and bridge. Balmain is a great area with an abundance of trendy restaurants, bars and shops all buzzing with links to the buses and ferries giving easy access to the city and surrounding areas. The ferry journey alone is great sightseeing adventure. As a family we really enjoyed the home with its numerous beautiful outdoor areas and the signature kitchen which greets you when you enter through the patio garden. We could not recommend this home enough and like previous guests would happily give it seven stars.
Thanks again Giacomo and Lyn it was a pleasure meeting you and staying in your lovely home.
All the best, Bob, Jackie, Michael, Lauren and Lucy
A fabulous stay in a lovely home. We had a great time and found both the house and its location perfect.
If we could, we would give this property and the owners 7 stars. It and they exceeded our expectations at every turn. The property is as advertised - beautiful and comfortable and the views are magnificent. We didn't have a car during our stay and so took ferries and buses everywhere which was so easy. After being out and about all day, we came home and had a glass of wine on the front terrace - with a cool breeze. The perfect end to a perfect day. There are restaurants in Balmain which are easy to walk to. They also deliver. There is a grocery store and excellent wine store within walking distance which also delivers. The owners of this beautiful property could not have been more hospitable, caring or helpful. We would highly recommend this property. Five stars definitely not enough!
