KAHI KO'OLA UHANE - THE PLACE OF RENEWED SPIRIT

Kapoho House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Caressed by ocean breezes. Lulled by gentle waves. Ever-changing skies with spectacular clouds, glorious sunrises, multitudes of stars. Away from the bustle of town in a small beachfront residential community. Surrounded by peace and tranquility. Original art, sculpture pieces, oriental carpets. Luxury touches at a very affordable price. Secure WiFi broadband internet connection throughout the house.

The best snorkeling in East Hawaii is just a few steps away at the Wai 'Opae Marine Sanctuary. Reefs break the waves beyond the tide pools so even small children can float in the calm waters and see the multitude of colorful tropic fish.

It is the perfect spot for a few days or a long term stay.

The house is up on stilts with all living areas on the second floor, accessible by stairs. You can relax outdoors on the lanai gathering area or sit in the living room and enjoy the fresh salt air through the two french doors that open the living room to the lanai. The private garden below has fragrant Plumeria, bananas and pineapple.

Both bedrooms also face the ocean. The master bedroom with a queen bed opens on to the enclosed end of the lanai and features an outdoor shower accessible from the lanai or from the bedroom. It also has a private bath with a classic claw-foot tub and laundry facilities (full size washer and dryer), and a walk in closet. The loveseat in the master bedroom unfolds to a double foam bed. The second bedroom has a double bed and is across from the hall bath with stall shower.

The kitchen features a gas stove and includes all needed for preparing family meals, simple to elaborate.

The dining table can be expanded to seat 6.

Every room has a fan, cross ventilation and guide lights for comfort and safety.

Aloha David & Nancy,

My sons and I had a wonderful 6 days at your Kahi Ko 'Ola Uhane. You have thought of everything anyone could possibly need here and more!

We loved the tidepools, coral gardens, Champagne pond and the little town of Pahoa.

We will miss the cute geckos that live behind the mirror and dreser that come out to visit. We will let all our friends know how lovely your place is.

Mahalo, we had and Ono time!

We love to snorkel and watch the fishes, and Wai 'Opae is one of the best sites on the Island, certainly the best in E. Hawaii.

The sound of the breakers and the sea breezes are primo for relaxing and soothing the spirit. The outdoor shower is another amenity that provides an entrancing evening experience.

It's always hard to leave every time we go to Kahi Ko 'Ola Uhane.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME

We LOVED our stay at Kahi Ko'Ola Uhane! David was so very helpful and informative! I am from the coutnry side of Oahu and enjoyed the vibe of "Home Away From Home"! We frequent Kapoho for the tide pools and this location was PERFECT! I must say that the feature that I loved the most was the outdoor shower! It didn't matter if it were day or night, that is where I showered. Total relaxation! We will defnitely be staying here again in the near future! Mahalo e David!

Owner's Response: We appreciate hearing from Island neighbors who have stayed with us. Many travelers from bustling Oahu have found the peace and tranquility here that is so hard to experience at home.
People who enjoy the fishes and corals at the Wai 'Opae Marine Preserve are special favorites here.
We look forward to hosting your next Kapoho getaway.

CASUAL, COMFORTABLE AND OUTSTANDING ALOHA SPIRIT

  • 5 of 5
We thoroughly enjoyed the days we spent. The home was as promised, the outdoor shower a delight and David was most helpful and attentive to ensure we had the best experience. The location to the tide pools made it quite nice to walk to and was perfect for my granddaughters to explore. I also appreciated having access to snorkel gear, water shoes, etc. The nicely appointed kitchen allowed grandma and granddaughters to share time preparing meals and cleaning up after. I would gladly return to Kahi Ko'Ola Uhane on my next trip.

Owner's Response: Mahalo for your very nice words. We do strive to present the complete vacation experience, and including snorkels, masks and fins makes it easy for Mainland travelers to enjoy our outstanding Wai 'Opae Marine Preserve just walking distance away.
Many travelers have remarked upon the well-stocked kitchen with all appliances and tools anyone, even the gourmets, can appreciate.
And of course the outdoor shower is always a big hit - wonderful to enjoy warm rainshower under the stars!

PEACEFUL BASE WITH EXCELLENT SNORKELING

  • 4 of 5
This is definitely a get-away-from-it-all place to stay. The neighborhood is quiet even though the houses are close together. I really enjoyed the outdoor shower here with the rain-line shower head. The property was clean and well maintained. Although we had an issue with the washer and the owner was on the mainland during our stay, he arranged for his sister to take care of the issue with the washer and it ended up being no inconvenience to us at all.

The house geckos were entertaining to watch and we loved having them there with us. Another really positive feature was the quick walk down to the Wai 'Opae marine sanctuary. We could just walk over and snorkel a couple of hours before high tide and it was beautiful every time. Plenty of fish and coral to watch and very, very clear.

We were fortunate that we had almost no rain during our stay so beautiful blue skies were seen every day. The sunrise over the marine sanctuary was not to be missed.

The one drawback to our stay was the lack of cell service as a Verizon customer. ATT was available but to get a signal from Verizon it was necessary to drive out of the neighborhood. Usually it was 40 minutes to a strong signal.

Owner's Response: Mahalo for your positive comments. There is an application in process for a Verizon cell tower about a mile away on HWY 137 in the farm lots on the W side. That will make Verizon service as good or better than ATT.
We say often that there is no better snorkeling on the East side of our island than the Wai 'Opae Marine Preserve, and this reviewer has just confirmed it. As we provide fins and masks with snorkel, you just need to bring your suits and good to go!

BEST HOME AWAY FROM HOME

  • 5 of 5
This property was exactly as he said and then so much more. Snorkel gear and footwear for the nearby tide pools were provided, as well as a well stocked kitchen, Flowers everywhere though out the home was a nice touch and the sound of the ocean at night put us to sleep. We were able to play and relax and can't wait to come back and stay again and again. Mahalo for the details and Aloha you put into your home. We recommend it for everyone.

ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW!

  • 5 of 5
We rented "the Place of Renewed Spirit" for a week, the end of January beginning of February 2014. After reviewing the pictures on line, I was very interested in the property. The ability to walk to the tide pools and explore the area with our granddaughters was magnificent, they even have snorkel equipment for you to use. The home was everything they said it would be, you only need to bring yourselves to this tranquil property and relax. The owners are very thoughtful and make sure you are enjoying yourself. The outdoor shower was a big hit with everyone. The kitchen is fully equipped with every appliance you will need. It was wonderful to listen to the tree frogs every night. We will definitely be back. We hope to spend a a few weeks next time.

Owner's Response: We are glad you enjoyed your stay and found the house to be 'as advertised'. It is our intent that tenants exceed their expectations for a lodging and depart not only satisfied but somewhat reluctantly, wishing that they could stay longer in our little slice of paradise.
We look fwd to hosting you on your next journey to the Big Island.

Our 4th visit to the Puna side of the Big Island & the 2nd stay at this location. We returned to this unit for the pleasant amenities it offers & the very reasonable rate given how close the walking distance to the Kapoho tide pools. Owner a pleasant & thoughtful host. We particularily enjoyed: the courtesy daily newspaper delivery, the lovely outdoor shower which we used exclusively, the wonderful green geekos which shared the house with us & the well-appointed master bedroom & interior in general. Pride of ownership very evident here. Thanks for helping create great memories!

Owner's Response: We're glad that you enjoyed your stay and the glimpses of geckos. Just wanted to assure readers that 'sharing the house' with geckos does not involves close encounters, only the occasional sighting as one ventures out from hiding place to catch flying insects. They do a good job of keeping down the population inside.
Looking fwd to seeing you on your next visit,
David and Nancy
